Today's job was to fit a roof rack to a camper which had hit a bridge and crushed the rack and bent all the brackets, after welding new rails onto it and straightening out the brackets we got the rough smoker forklift out and immediately had to mess about with 'fork extensions' 

Tightened on and missing fasteners repatriated, and also we fitted our own design of fabricated pannier box carrier frames to the door along with relocating a ladder to the side and number plate and lights to the top of the door !

Thankyou all for your kind words there's no doubt its going to be a stress fest but I'm relishing the challenge my sister has been the star really as I've basically thrown her right into the deep end with welding/fabricating and quite intense mechanical work without any sign of flagging so far, not bad for a former office based employee!

Far be it from me to defend main dealers, but the ones to blame for all this are the manufacturers.
Margins on new cars are low. The manufacturers insist on the franchise having a huge glass showroom, they also change signage and point of sale graphics at their discretion, but the dealer has to pay for it.  Likewise with a complete set of special tools and diagnostic equipment, where the manufacturer sets the exorbitant price. If the car maker decides to can you, that's it, they can do it on a whim, with a very short notice period, leaving the dealership in hock to the eyeballs with no way to pay the loans off. They will remove the signage etc. that the dealer paid for very quickly. So you get £210+VAT labour rates, because it's only through parts and service that the company can make enough money to ensure that loss of the franchise won't result in immediate bankruptcy.
It seems to be a particularly UK/Ireland system of doing business. French, German, Spanish, and Italian dealers are much more modest in size. In France there's an unpretentious Citroen, Peugeot, or Renault dealer in every small town, sometimes more than one.

Absolutely!  That was its first ever Rover gathering amongst its siblings. We did the 'part two' of that show the next day also, at the Churnet Valley Railway. 
It's still the daily driver and racking up the miles. I don't want to tempt fate, but its been a reliable and very comfortable way to get around!

That DALL-E 3 generative engine seems to be obsessed with the V8.  I had enough trouble getting a radial into an engine bay a few pages back.  Even specifically asking for a four cylinder engine weeks later, I still get this V8 concoction that I really don't want to go hunting where a pipe or hose leak is!

Shouldn't complain though, as using the very same API direct from OpenAI who develop it, its use gets restricted behind a paywall.  But now through Microsoft, even an ancient Microsoft account gets free unlimited use.  I still have my original Hotmail account from 25+ years ago getting daft images like this out of the thing  (except I bet you wish I couldn't) :
