  1. So what am I collecting. It's smallish I suppose. Not small, but not huge. It's an automatic. It's less than £3k. Quite a bit less. Ticks half of the other boxes. Success? We'll see...
  2. Castle Cary busyish with Glasto travellers. Wondering if the A303 is best avoided on the way home.
  3. I love these too, although typically I didn't notice them at the time - I've never paid much attention to modern cars, and anyway back then it was the equivalent Audis that seemed the most desirable. I think the design has aged really gracefully though, bauhaus-esque lines are really slick, much like the Audi TT they have a timelessness to them. The saloons look particularly cool, I think, but you can't beat an estate. They won't be cheap for long, and IMO they're only still cheap because they've lasted so well. It's still amazing to me that a quarter of a million mile 20+ year old car can still be a practical workhorse. Electrics and typical VW design flaws aside this generation of VAG were pretty well built really. If it's a decent one it would probably suit me when you get rid. Is it the same colour as that automatic saloon we both had the pleasure* of experiencing?
  4. Haha. So far 4 mins delay leaving but am on the way now. Direct train most of the way so fingers crossed.
  5. Thankfully only 2 kids. Sometimes it's useful to have an extra belt for carrying other people's kids, grandmothers, etc. But she hasn't managed to find anything better yet... I'll send you a PM.
  6. Yeah, one of these would be ideal I think.
  7. We both love a Forester but as you say not exactly local, nor small. Still, interested to hear more - drop me a PM?
  8. Not exactly a shite purchase, but I'm finding that locally anything much below this price appears to be fairly shit. Mrs T is looking for a new runabout - something that's got a few years left in it and will be low hassle to own. Wish list: 5 doors, 5 seats Petrol (or possibly hybrid) Lowish mileage and/or evidence of being well maintained Definite bonus points for being Japanese and within, say, 100 miles of Devon. I'd hope this is not impossible. I'm seeing stuff advertised locally but at the price it all seems either a little bit too old, high miles, or rusty to be worth the money. There's a degree of open mindedness to the search but it's not yet desperate so we're trying to wait for the right thing to turn up. We were very tempted that convertible Merc on here but 4 seats and being in Norfolk (and nowhere near a train station) counted against it. Similarly the Volvo C30 appeals but it's not ideal for carrying kids and that's what it's going to get used for - but if it was down the road we'd probably have bought it already. Diesels are a no no but otherwise try me. Slightly scruffy is OK but nothing in danger of needing welding repairs any time soon.
  9. https://www.gumtree.com/p/citroen/citroen-c3-pluriel-spare-repair-/1346913527 If I said I wasn't tempted I'd be lying. At least all the bits that are going to break have broken already.
  10. Ah, life before children, when I still had (most of) my hair. I like to think I still manage to appear fairly dodgy though. Maybe this would suit me as a tip run beast when HMC gets bored. I imagine the boot is fairly huge.
  11. 318Ci with MOT, £500 Bloody tempting but not sure whether I need the hassle - seller says it has cut out a few times - local garage fitted a fuel relay but weren't sure it would cure it. https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-3-series-coupe-2002-manual-1995-cc-2-doors/1456576979
  12. Good luck. I had much fun with it. Still got the rock beasts.
  13. Yes! Brilliant. If you kept 2, which way would you go? “Modern” vs postwar / Economy vs luxury? Or a bit of both? Interested to know which of the designs you think are more successful.
  14. I think that might actually be my favourite of the fleet, no mean feat. Are you going to have to sell something?
  15. Automatic too, how opulent! That's really lovely, I can smell it all the way from Teignmouth. Major want.
