  1. A friction-driven, narrow gauge road-railer... now there's an idea... 🙂
  2. Blimey! I can't even leave out a barrel of cement mix water, without someone wanting to float a Mini wheel in it...
  3. Hopefully it will have retained the images on its SD card! Glad it has been found at last.
  4. As has been offered above by several folk - you only need to drop them a brief line and introduce yourself and the fact that you own REV and it's under restoration, also if you like, to add that you'd love to know more about its history with their parents. Get the introduction made and a dialogue established and the rest can follow on from there. Don't overthink it (I know that is easier than it sounds!) but literally, launch in with a short but friendly introduction. A pound to a penny they will be really pleased to know that REV is still about and that they will get back in touch with you.
  5. New belt, tensioner and service and all should* be well...
  6. The manual Peugeot 404 has a column shift. That was made in Europe until 1975, but up to 1980 in Argentina.
  7. The manual Citroen DS had a column shift. That was built until 1975.

    When are you buying it?
  9. FTP = Failure to Proceed It can be applied to a breakdown also.
  10. Obviously it's @Slowsilver who makes the difference here. He is the 'Car Whisperer', you know. Take him to the Gamma luncheon with you and the car will behave perfectly.
  11. Among the three of them, @Andyrew, @Talbot and @ianbmw have done a fantastic job of keep that red Carlton estate alive. I look forward to it getting back on the road this year and turning attention to the blue saloon! 🙂
  12. A Berlingo is a decent and practical car too. The disadvantage of this one and the earlier cars in general is that it's manual. An automatic would be so much easier to use, especially in London traffic.
  13. That's not a bad idea at all. It's automatic, roomy, has MOT to September 2024 with a decent MOT history, sliding side doors on both sides and a rear wheelchair ramp. Ticks a lot of boxes, I would think? EDIT: It is ULEZ compliant as well!
  14. Excellent! A family reunion would be appropriate...
  15. Looks like the owner of this business is the grandson: https://www.michaeljchapman.co.uk/
  16. The late Ken Cassir, champion powerboat racer, was associated with Cassir & Co Ltd too.
  17. He was indeed married to Winifred and they had one child, a daughter named Jeanette. She went to Upton Convent School and then onto finishing school in Switzerland, where she studied French. Later on she worked for a solicitor's practice in Hoylake. Jeanette was a noteworthy showjumper and had represented Cheshire in competitions. She became engaged to (or married) a James Chapman in January 1966. His parents had a nice house at 28 Quarry Road, Heswall, which was used until at least 2009 as a Prep. school. Albert was, genuinely, a cotton merchant in Liverpool.
