    More chod.

    Late 70's early 80's Neoplan,

A magie fire engine, not sure why it has green lights not red.

I didn't see this until I pulled up to photo something else. Not sure myself what it is.

Hidden just down the track was this collection of chod.

I'd actually stopped to photo this old butchers van that had clearly been given the chop by it's former owners.

Hidden just past it was this Rover 214Si

Whilst behind that was this Ford.

The shots of the engine bay and the engine remind me of my dad's Mk III Cortina. The one where Ford made a fuck up of the design of the oil feed to the ohc and the cams went circular very quickly due to oil starvation. It was a known* fault (no interweb or such in the 70's) to dealers and fortunately one of my father's friend's worked for the Ford dealers (Brook Shaw in Sheffield). He bought a replacement cam and gasket set plus the splined tool for the head bolts.
We changed it one Saturday morning, none of your cam locking tools, set it tdc, put it in gear and got on with it. Same belt, checked it afterwards and away we went.
My dad sent the bill for parts to Ford UK, and after a lot of letters back and forth Ford sent him a cheque for the parts

A few of the go compare the confused meerkat sites appear to no longer recognise registrations that are more than 25 years old. When Ed bought the C3 I tried to transfer the insurance onto the MG B. "Sorry Sir, we only insure cars up to 25 years old". It's reg doesn't show on some sites, but others it does.

things that are missing because it was given to you to put away ......  yeah right not ...
turned the house upside down last night looking for a missing passport , which WAS 100 PER CENT GIVEN TO ME TO PUT AWAY in the safe drawer ...  could/did   not find it last night
and I was again cast into the endless  pit of despair and reminded how important it was to put things away ...
had a crap night with my cold , all my leg /arm joints ached like they were on fire all night , then I was coughing and throwing up ....  at 7am ..
    so I got up
so turned out the safe drawer again ,,nope
sorted out other piles of crap ,,, and binned then ......  nope
went around other piles of books / paper / shite which the poltergeist has now put in the bin ...  still nope
then when I looked out of the window ... there it was by the picture frame within arms reach of her pillow  , behind a book ....
was 100 per cent never ever given to me to put away !!!
on the bright side I found a lost Asus tablet and cleared out loads of shite .

Your wife won't have forgot how many cars. When she wants a new kitchen and you say you have no money. She will list all your cars and how much you have spent on them. For instance . If you have twenty pounds and your wife has five pounds. How much does your wife have??
No wrong answer. She has £25.00.  Weaker sex my arse. Happy anniversary.

Just a little tidy up in the garage before lunch....................
Started to tidy up the mess I'd left in the garage after changing the Astra sump the other day. Wipe black oily mess of can of WD40 before putting it back on the shelf. Wipe, wipe, fumble drop! As the can left my hand and headed for terra firma it struck the slightest of glancing blows on the car ramp that was still sitting in the middle of the floor. Said Chinese sweatshop made ramp is naturally covered in many, many sharp unfinished edges. The ensuing geyser of WD40  erupting from the puncture wound in the nearly full jumbo size trade size can was so violent and rapid I just stood there and watched it laughing. Floor, toolboxes, motorbikes and me all drenched in the stuff.
Two hours, half a gallon of screwfix degreaser, a box of rags and several buckets of hot soapy water later, the inside of the garage has never been so clean and I could see the funny side of things! Silver linings and all that it's made me have a good tidy up which has actually improved my shite fettling mojo somewhat.
I'm just REALLY grateful it wasn't a can of paint!

That's Maine Road Manchester, the old home of City (v Stoke looking at that).
I knew that before clicking on the pic and going "search Google for this image".
Try it, I notice amongst the stock images form Alamy that were similar were other grounds with Invacars, including a bit of video. Something to do on a Sunday.

busmansholiday reacted to Sir Chocolate Teapot in The life of a bargain hunter in Italia is not a happy one.
As per the intro thread, I have the pleasure and pain of living in Italia. Thought some may be interested in how car /bike buying works here.
Used cars / bikes are much more expensive here, people on average keep vehicles much longer and what in UK would be valued at £500 costs at least euro 1500 if not 2000!
    There is more!
To change ownership involves burocracy and money.
Each region charges different rates, here in piemonte a scooter or motorbike is flat rate of euro 183
Car ownership transfers are charged on rated horse Power, minimum charge seems about euro 450 for a 60 hp panda. The burocratic tax /charge goes up lots for more powerful cars.
So you see the problem.  You find a cheap by Italian standards car for 1000 euro, straight away you must add approx 500 euro to change ownership, to change ownership takes time, non of this turn up after work cash in hand stuff.  Both buyer and seller must go together to nearest large town with an official agency office and wait in the queue and then sign all paperwork ( and pay the rip off fees and declare price paid for vehicle).
But there is more!  Even if the seller has the registration document in his/her name only but is married, yes you guessed it, their partner has to come into the agency to sign documents also.
    In summary :
    View vehicle.
Arrange time with seller when both ( and partner) are free for half a day to go to nearest agency.
Get extra bank loan to pay rip off fees.
Arrange another day to be able to collect.
All in normally needs at least 2 weeks to get everyone together.
    But there is more!
In Italy there is no road tax,  instead there is a possession tax. This means even basket cases have to pay tax every year to retain registration documents. None of that there Sorn over here. Would Sir like to pay extra to check all taxes have been paid up to date before taking ownership of vehicle (and any fines and unpaid taxes).
You guessed it again, there is more.
Non residents in Italia can not buy a car here because the seller can not sell it to them. I am not sure how it works to sell to a non resident but I do know that the seller must pay fees to export the car, non of that simple signing v5 doc  to state that car had been exported.
To those who think the dvla are difficult to deal with, come spend some time dealing with the equivalent Italian dept.
A few years ago I imported a UK reg car to Italy and lost quite a few hair follicles.
In next few weeks I am building up the courage to attempt importing a UK reg motorcycle into Italy, my wife is I think secretly looking forward to a change of husband from long haired turnip to a bald headed style icon.
    Count to ten.
    Grazie
    Sir Chocolate Teapot
