  1. I come from Darnall !!! (But I did leave there around 1960 and know how it's changed).
  2. Been watching them do it every time I've cut over the back there whilst taking my Mrs to and from Oakwell.
  3. Been there as well. Got around it by buying Mrs BMH a car that she liked and wanted but also leaked oil. Amazingly, when she realised it was her car covering the drive in oil (not me accidentally* spilling it whilst working on stuff) all comments on the state of the drive stopped.
  4. They built things to last in those days.
  5. Glad this is back on the road. I commuted for at least two years, 90 miles a day in mine ( seem to remember it was a C reg example) back in 1991 ish. Slow and steady on the motorway with the lorries, but never let me down. Only major problem was when the front edge of the bonnet rotted through and it shot up and blocked the forward view at about 50mph. That's why they have those slots in it, you use them to see through so you can pull over safely!
  6. They are welcome to stick the camera at the bottom of my drive given the speed people drive past even when the school just up the road was open.
  7. Is that due to where they intended the vehicle to be used, a bit like buses ?. Sheffield, being very hilly, specified a different dif ratio to most operators so that they could cope with this. Down side was top speed was severely reduced. "I've found some 0.015 rings for a villiers 197cc but the age cut-off ends before my engine was presumably built, anyone know if they'd be compatible?" They should* be OK, says the man who needs to pull his finger out and fix his Villiers engined bike.
  8. I'm sure, @strangeangel would have this sorted before the end of lockdown!!

  18. Actually they are not illegal. It's a 79 car so more than 40 years old and therefore tax and test exempt but interestingly it also means you can ditch the reflective plates and put those on, despite it having reflective as new.
  19. "Two time" really, really fucks me off. It's either "two times" (because it's plural) or "twice" you twats on TV....
  20. Takes me back to my yoouf when the world really was in B&W. Like!
  21. That's an impressive setup there Phil. I've got exactly the same................... led torch!
  22. Seem to remember my Panda was slightly earlier so not sure this, which is keeping the spiders amused in the garage is any use to you.
  23. Lidl do a decent metal paint (cheaper and better than Hamerite) in a choice of colours. That and use a small foam roller and nobody* will be able to spot it's not a 15 grand spray job. * well not from the otherside of the Lidl car park anyway.
  24. Just had this Kelsey Publishing; Retro cars is going to merge to Classic Car Mart so there will still be a Magazine going out...
