Like Green grocers and corner shops the car spares shop is a thing of the past now.
The golden era for them was the 70s and 80s when every weekend the streets were lined with Cortinas on axle stands and Minis dismantled across the pavement as dads desperately tried to get the thing running in time for work on Monday.
customization was all the rage and radio cassettes with big shelf speakers and maybe a graphic equaliser, furry seat covers and a Krooklok were must haves.
 
Back then you needed to stock bits for Ford BL Vauxhall and Rootes and maybe the odd set of points and plugs for those new fangled Datsuns.
Some shops even had signs saying "Parts for foreign makes" like it was some sort of novelty.
 
The Max Power trend kept them afloat in the 90s but the yoof have been largely priced off the road and get their kicks from Xbox and porn rather than doing do nuts in Tescos car park.

On the way into work today I passed a Tesla Model S with the registration P1NTO, which I thought was an odd choice.
 
Part of me hopes there's an old Sierra somewhere out there registered as B477ERY to restore equilibrium to the universe.

Its the right price and ticks many boxes. Problem is those newer vauxhalls give me chronic back pain

Peugeot dealer approved* fix - wind down window, close door on to a lump of wood, gently bend top of the door inward, remove wood,close window.
charge punter £50 ph to bend his nearly new pug in the name of "adjustment".

My eldest (5) always wants to wash the car but she gets bored after 2 panels,drenches me with the hose (intentional??) and then goes back indoors to watch Peppa Pig while I finish the job I didn't want to do in the first place.

I used to be into all that bufty stuff when I was young and single.
 
I used to blag Polish samples from reps at work and thought cleaning the car was an acceptable way to spend 8 hours.
 
Fast forward to the present, the daily car gets a bucket of tepid soapy water thrown at it when you can't see where the lights are through the grime and my other car has things growing on it.

Most memorable thing about my wedding day was the plan to go on honeymoon in the Sierra.
I went to fill it up while my new Mrs got changed and the tank split and pissed petrol all over the forecourt.
 
We eventually went away in a diesel Skoda.

2016 is pissing me off so far.

Well the original idea when I bought this one last year was to use it for parts to repair the two piece one as I'd tried unsuccessfully for 2 years to get a pair of doors from Poland. I also needed brake drums. This was an ideal opportunity to get the bits and pieces I needed. Once I got the white truck home and cleaned the 4 years of green slime and mud off it where it had been standing on a farm, I found this one to be overall better condition and alot more solid than the blue 2 piece still was even after the welding I'd already done. Not long after I collected this truck my Iveco camper I'd owned for over 10 years had started to die a horrible death with just about everything on the whole van worn out. The price it would have cost to get it through another mot I could buy another vehicle.
I had always had this dream of making an FSO Caro camper. So this was the ideal opportunity but as the white truck I'd just bought was a much better base vehicle, I ended up restoring that and using the parts from the two piece truck to replace faulty or missing parts on the white one. Sadly as I can't seem to source to parts I need for the blue 2 piece one and it still needs alot of work to get it looking decent, plus I have limited time and space, the shell will now be scrapped. Which means I still have alot of spares to keep the white camper going and the other Blue truck I have put away in my garage.

The engine and gearbox fit.
