10 years ago I had a customer who drove the roughest looking Mk1 Seat Toledo which had done 270 odd k and he was determined to see 300.
It really was a shed. Hairy string instead of door check straps, seats with more gaffer tape than a Mondeo bumper etc.
 
Sadly someone pulled out in front of him from a junction and that was the end of it.

My Bro had an auto Tdi Sharan.
It did nearly 300k before failing in a spectacular fashion at the entrance to a roundabout on a busy trunk road on a Friday afternoon locking both front wheels solid.

The last of the Montegos didn't really have a "manufacturer" as such and had a Montego badge which was a bit Roverish but not really.
 
I think most of the ex BL / Austin products at the time had a similar name badge arrangement.
 
205 and 309 GTi had "GTI" badges on the wheel in place of the usual lion.
 
Didn't the 16v Astra mk2 GTE had a 16v badge in place of the griffin?

May I suggest that these two facts are not entirely unconnected.
