  1. Out of the normal AS realm but more towards classic and sought after stuff but.... Oh look, car and classic have a 20k mile immaculate example with one owner, full history, always garaged, all original, a folder of invoices and in the best colour for £25k. Owner glances out the window at his 120k mile, part history, scruffy interior, lacquer peeling shit box in a hideous shade of green and thinks "well that must be £20k then!"
  2. Vauxhall Viva? More likely to see an HC Viva than one of these. Or have you seen hundreds of them and just not noticed.
  3. I love the way the title reads Tesco Oil Reduced by 95 quid...
  4. I'm not sure it is actually covid related but a general downturn in pretty much everything. News is all depressing shit. Government is utterly incompetent and the country seems hell bent on shooting itself in the foot. Even if you aren't skint, it's all you ever hear about. Strikes. NHS problems, it's all crap. Say fuck it and go to the pub? £6.50 a pint, I'll pass thanks. Go back to around 2012 and team GB were winning things and there was positivity.
  5. They are as cheap now as they are ever likely to be. I wouldn't mind one either.
  6. Anything that goes bong! My current modern isn't too bad, but the Mitsubishi I had before, Jesus! Door open, Bing bing bing bing! Keys in the car, Bong Bong Bong! Keys not in the car, Bong! Cold outside, Bong! No seatbelt, Clang Clang Clang Clang! Clutch not down. Bong! A car within 10 yards. Bing bing bing! Just a constant racket of horrible noise. No need! The hired Volvo I had made more pleasant hums rather than bongs and clangs. Still unnecessary.
  7. This talk of the old fella not seeing it as a problem or failing to understand the stress it causes his neighbours reminds me of when I sit at home watching TV, perfectly happy with my surroundings and my Mrs comes in and says "Jesus, look at the state of this place" and spends the next 20 minutes aggressively clearing up!
  8. It only occurred to me yesterday that as right hand drivers, people in the UK have to operate their stupid touch screens with their left hand. As the majority of people are right handed, does that explain why we all hate them because we are using them cack handed?
  9. Powered tailgates. So slow! Of course they can't be too fast or they would chin people, but.... Push the button... Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... Get your stuff, push the button... Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... Bugger! Forgot something. Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... *Grab hat* Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.... Won't close, need to move the stuff around in the boot.... Oh FFS.
  10. I suppose a good way to tell what's is important or useful is if you miss it when it's gone. My latest daily lacks the heated screen and heated seats that my previous car had. Heated seats not so much, but the heated screen was brilliant on a frosty morning. Now I'm back to jugs of warm water. So that was a useful thing. I had a hired Volvo that had air conditioned seats. They were lovely in last year's heatwave. I never have and never will be a fan of climate control. I want a hot/cold lever. I don't want to set a temperature on a digital display and be blasted with roasting hot or freezing cold air until the temperature is reached.
  11. I see your logic. Cosworth = twoc'd + torched = massive insurance premiums = worthless hot hatches and the rise of the lifestyle 4x4. Frontera sport or RAV4? It's pretty obvious given BI's love of a leggy Toyota.
  12. Amongst our resident YouTubers, Mr dollywobblers splendid channel has almost 100k subscribers. Can a few more of us subscribe to help push him towards his goal? Plus you get to see him test utter shit, like this thing: Please note, this thread is not endorsed, sponsored by or the work of @dollywobbler
  13. I looked at that 2 or 3 times before I realised what was wrong. Of course, there never was a open top X1/9
  14. Thanks @trigger I remember reading about most of these at the time. I had forgotten one or two. Very impressive amounts of work went into some of these, and the results always look great. On the downside, you do make me look really, really lazy.
  15. This weekend at ACA https://angliacarauctions.co.uk/classic-auctions/2565-28-Jan-2023/654~4-1990-ford-transit-190-lwb-custom&nbsp
  16. If anyone wants to join in, I spotted this excellent Facebook ad: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/3437761466495172/
  17. If you enjoy it in this weather, you will love the summer.
  18. Baiting petrol bores is my new hobby. On the occasions me and a few mates get together for a beer or 6, there is usually 4 of us. 1 garage owner, once a car nut who now hates cars and people having been in the trade too long. Hates EVs especially. 1 fairly disinterested in cars and has a hybrid BMW 1 absolute car nut. Supercar in the garage, owned a string of 911s, favourite place is the nurburgring. Me. I take great delight in telling them how impressed I have been with the EVs I've driven. (Don't own one or have any intention of getting one). I've driven a few Zoes. They are bloody fantastic. It makes for an interesting evening. For a few days after, the car nut will send me videos of Clarkson running out of power deliberately, or a Tesla on fire or some other anti ev propaganda which I don't even bother playing. EV drivers are the new vegans or iPhone users but EV deniers are also a thing. Beats arguing about Brexit. Again.
  19. Where most remaining car spares shops are quite small and rammed with stuff in every corner, most Halfords have the same amount of stuff in a shop the size of Tesco's.
  20. What 2 door? Am I missing something?
  21. So ignoring the commercial vans, that is 924 outlets. £60m ÷ 924 is just under £65k pa. Or less than £1250 profit a week per outlet.
  22. Looks like a1982 Motor magazine family car test. Ital wins the economy trial but fails miserably every where else. Cavalier wins, despite needing a new camshaft every 3rd service.
