bunglebus got a reaction from andrew e in Shite in Miniature II
Not found any more about the Escort/Capri/GT70, but while looking I did manage to ID another mystery car that one of you guys sent me a while ago

All very nice. Somehow more appealing to me than AA/RAC stuff.
I don't know if my very playworn ADAC Dinky bug should get restored or left alone
Got some Siku ones too somewhere
Corgi ADAC Polo

I was reading your description of them thinking "I bet they were Zylmex" 😄
The blue Rolls was the one that got me started, in a job lot of Matchbox and looking very like one - but I knew it wasn't. Start of a slippery slope!
Today's mystery model is this plastic MK1 Escort that's clearly meant to represent one of the Daily Mail London to Mexico rally cars. I'm going to guess it would have had additional pieces representing the front and rear lights etc, and the external roll cage like the Corgi Junior

Some thing in my deep deep memory thinks these were cereal give aways, maybe Kellogs Rice Crispys. I remember me and my brother would poor the whole packet out of a fresh box of cereal just to get the toy. In the end the cereal companies had to pack the toy seperately after a few kids had problems with chocking on the toys and not noticing it in their breakfast.

Todays installment of Roadside Assistance is from Germany. The ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club) is modelled by various, mostly German, manufacturers. So here's some VWs in ADAC livery
Schuco VW Split Screen Bug
Schuco VW Micro Bus
Vitesse VW Bug
Vitesse VW Type 3 Notchback
Faller 1962 VW Bug in plastic
Gama-Mini VW 1302
Gama VW Passat Variant
Norev Jet-Car VW Golf Mk1
1/40 Viking Plastic VW Split Screen Micro Bus

It could be that the person isn't with us anymore I suppose. I was quite awestruck by the larger Bburagos when I was a kid, not that I had any 1/18 scale.
I just got frustrated with parts breaking off, same as always happened when I tried to make plastic model kits. Think that's why I like toy cars over model cars.
Having said that, I just found out about and watched a video on the 1/8 scale 67 Mustang GT500 from Deagostini. Oh my that thing is amazing!

Pretty good for an R50 - ours died at 134K and the R55 is currently on 141K but is only doing ~2K a year as nobody in the house commutes.
Below is 2008 Renault Master (horsebox) - mostly motorway miles and it has a limiter in the ECU (max 3,000 rpm and 2,500 in fifth) . Mechanically just an exhaust + consumables in our ownership but I reckon the tin worm is going to kill it before the mechanics give up

Funny enough, that's one of only two I did have along with the SSK Mercedes - both 1:24 though I think

I can understand the MOYs being condemned to the chazza shop, but it kind of saddens me to see boxed, good-as-new thirty year-old Bburagos in there. Yeah, they're not worth a lot (the £25 on each of those is a bit – speculative), and they're somewhat unrefined by today's 1:18, "proper model" standards, but they were a hell of a thing to behold in the late 80s. They were the kind of thing that one is given and then puts somewhere safe so they can enjoy it later in life. Like I've done with the E-Type I got for Christmas when I was 8.
The idea of anybody just.... not wanting them any more... is a bit heartbreaking.

I'm not sure it was one of those now - was newish but appeared to be a coupe/cabriolet.
IS250C maybe?

I recently succumbed to this Ixo 1/43 Talbot Horizon. Part of me wants to paint it black with silver detailing as a recreation of my father's old Ultra Horizon. It's waaay too nice for that though. Impressive levels of detail on this one.
