  1. I want to line it up with the larger Corgi version when I can dig one out
  2. A while back I mentioned the larger Hot Wheels that are now available in a few different scales, but they were mostly Mattel's own creations rather than licensed castings. Well I found one today I'd not seen before And I just happened to have its little brother handy in the to-be-customised box
  3. Lots of nice new releases in the Hot Wheels case Good to see this out as an affordable mainline, ripe for customising As is this Think this will be popular with Porsche owners
  4. I think they've been mentioned on here before but I've never seen a set. Odd that they made two sizes smaller than a Superfast rather than a Superking, Superfast and then a smaller one to make up the three
  5. Gone into Saafend for the day. There's a toy shop! And next door a craft shop with various model kits
  6. Thanks ^ got some goodies in the post via a slightly convoluted deal involving @RichardK and @2110, as the former listed a bunch of partwork cars which the latter bought before I'd spotted these among them. Luckily a deal was agreed and they arrived while I was out working yesterday The Mrs has also bought me one I've been hunting for for quite a long time, ETA tomorrow...
  7. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1476813896231638/ "Extremely rare Volvo 850 pickup, one of only 2 rhd commissioned by Volvo" 🤔
  8. I'll have you know it's tomorrow, cos my birthday is always the first day of spring!
  9. Why does Asda's toy section always look like a jumble sale? A couple of new bits among the chaos, Jada Nanos do not appear to have any codes on the outside that might reveal the contents
  10. Thanks, there's quite a lot of detail work in it that's not immediately obvious but takes it a bit closer to a premium. Most of it's inside, all-chrome interior needed a bit of black on the seats and dash etc to tone it down
  11. Last little project for today, this 64 Nova gasser has been at the back of my bench for months as I thought it needed a wheel swap and detail So I did. Wheels are from the Jay Leno Tank Car
  12. Corgi Targa is also now complete for the first time in years. I've got the remains of the donor plus a mostly complete but stripped police one with red interior spare if anyone needs it? Has the teledial wheels!
  13. Graffic Traffic is back together. Annoyingly the base cracked again where I'd fixed it before but it's not especially noticeable Still looks better than it did
  14. Blimey there's a good deal on in Tesco - £5.00 for Matchbox and Hot Wheels 5 packs and monster trucks for £2.75
  15. These are £7.00 each in a charity shop. I had the Merc SL as a teenager
  16. I'm working on another "simple" resto today, Matchbox T3 Transporter, the Graffic Traffic version. Compared to the early 70s Pontiac I've just done, this casting is awful - the detail is still there but the metal is full of defects, there's flash all over it and it's just generally much lower quality than the earlier casting. Base bears the legend "Made in China" I've already started giving it a bit of a sand, this is a resto but the QC is so poor I've got to make it a bit better before laying paint on. Some of these defects will still show but they would have through the original paint anyway
  17. Bimmer-bothering mate parked one of his 325s backwards into some parked cars in Southend after catching a wet manhole cover under power, and I remember doing a 180 on a roundabout on another occasion in one of them. Good tyres are pretty essential although he insists the one he wrote off was already bent somewhere and could never be aligned correctly. This is the guy who I did the Matchbox E30 cabrio for recently
  18. Obviously! My mate is a serial E30 botherer, I have to say other than the lack of BHP from that 1.8, it was such a good driver's car. I'd use it for the run to Eastbourne and back from Chelmsford, something daft like 30 roundabouts on the route each way, I just wouldn't slow down for any of them unless I had to. It just stuck to the road like the proverbial shit to a blanket.
  19. Wow. I used to drive this throbbing beast (318i) on a regular basis. I fitted the eyebrows and lowered it
  20. I've got a Todd Sweeney but not the other one
  21. A rather large box was handed over to me recently containing the things I'd managed to dibs from @danthecapriman. I'm not going to post them all but here are a few of the more unusual or interesting ones I do really like the various Dinky Transits, this MK2 is similar to one I already have, but has the grille etc painted black rather than silver, and has a rather unlikely red interior rather than the sensible grey of its twin Earlier, smaller MK is yet another version I'd not previously got my mits on. There are so many! This one is definitely not a toy I've laid eyes on in person until now. Dinky Impala is a hefty beast. There's a hole in the boot floor as if a spare tyre or some luggage was once inside Another Dinky that's never come my way before is this lovely Opel Commodore, even the quarterlights atop the doors have survived. Don't think the Whizzwheels really suit it though I was keen to get the smaller Corgi Fiat 1800 after acquiring the larger 2100 a while back Spot on Zephyr was below market value and came with new shiny bits Matchbox Case Tractor has definitely been enjoyed, having plenty of mud embedded in its gubbins. However it's somehow retained its roof and Taylor Woodrow stickers Much as the rear arch treatment on the Speed Kings Cougar bugs me, I'm very impressed with how well this one has survived Fantastic Vantastic Laser Wheels Lambo Glo Racer Burnin 280... ....passed the glow test... ...and is now apart and having a bath in hydrogen peroxide to see if the yellowing can be removed 90s era Matchbox can be a bit hit and miss, but I like the GTO Husky skip lorry somehow managed to retain its skip for all these years Variation of the Corgi 740 I'd not previously found Corgi must have modelled this on a real vehicle surely? Not worked out who in Hong Kong made this Chevrolet van I thought this bus was a Playart but it's not marked as such Finally, Corgi Heinkel has gone in the customise/restore pile - spare pink body that came with it gives me ideas!
  22. I've got quite a few new arrivals here that I've been going through on this damp Sunday afternoon My boss found this Moving Parts 911 somewhere in Europe Sticking with air cooled Volkswagens (!), I spotted this Majorette buggy at the Volksworld Show, don't know if the box is the original but I've never seen one of these with a clear base and roof I also picked up this boxed Sand Digger, he had four or five others, but I chose unpunched box but already open so I didn't feel guilty taking it out for pics! This one came from the recent DTCM fire sale and is very nice, it has already replaced the one I had in my display cabinet Another VoWoSho find, a copy of the Hot Wheels buggy. Got one a while back but this one's nicer Last show find is this absolutely lovely Playart bus. Not an easy find in the UK, this and the Zylmex bay window have been on my hit list for ages
  23. Didn't @flat4alfa manage to score an original one off someone on here a while back?
  24. The Pontiac GP coupe resto is done Lesney chose not to add any detail to the lights or grille etc on these so I've followed suit, much as I'd like to. This is probably the easiest resto I've done, as I left all the casting lines and other defects exactly as they were when it was made, there's even a weird bump in the boot lid - left it there. Paint came off the glass etc pretty easily so it just needed a fine sand and polish up. I'm sure the colour's not 100% accurate but there seem to be shades from bright pink to dark purple shown in images I can find online
