  1. I've got a few race sponsorship decals, was thinking of putting them on that ^ but don't know how well they'll work over blue
  2. This is the last Gus's Gulper I'm doing, I promise! Having done the white one and colour trial replica, I really wanted to fully detail one. This has fought me all the way, started it so long ago I can't remember which of the tatty pink bodies I actually used - but the base is one I restored to put under the colour trial before realising that one had to be bare metal. I still ended up taking it apart as yellow plastic wasn't going to work with the colour scheme. Casting flaws were pretty bad, actually bought a tool specifically for this one - a sanding disc attachment for the Dremel that's saving me lots of time. Then the paint fell off after masking up the (silver) stripes. Then I dropped it after stripping and re-priming with a different brand. I actually took pics of this before lacquering too, as I had a suspicion I would get a reaction with one of the different paints used on the detailed areas. Anyway, it's done now, various different silvers used inside and some black wash etc to make the engine look realistic. Stripes are white primer
  3. No I hadn't looked into it at all, just preferred the more era correct colour and decals. Off down an internet rabbit hole!
  4. No - I have thought about it but I don't think I could do it very well. Most of my work is done in my outhouse but spraying is done outside, sometimes I'll stand out there sanding things, or take the Dremel out on an extension lead when I'm wire brushing stuff. In short, unless I strap a camera to my head I'm not going to film much! I might have a go in the future, in the mean time at least you have Sideways King 75, Diecast Resurrection, Danny's Diecast Disasters, Marty's Matchbox Makeovers...
  5. That Aston looks to me like it's overinflated by about 50%
  6. Some time back I bought a tatty Corgi VW panel van Well I then found a better one so decided to restore the first. Casting has lovely details but was very coarse under the paint I really wasn't sold on the colour combo as I just couldn't see VW painting one like that in the 60s, found a few unusual colour schemes (errors) online Then I found a bit of a rarity, the "Vroom and Dreesmann" version The decals were available, so... Very pleased with this one. I couldn't resist tidying up the casting lines in the bumpers, and I omitted to paint the number plate housing silver as original, because it didn't look right to me. Colour looks a bit light in the pictures but indoors it's about right
  7. Had a hunt in a few shops today, plenty of Hot Wheels but only one I needed For some reason this one's been hard to find, I saw one a few weeks ago but the card was tatty. Left as as it should be no problem finding a mainline..? Today there was this solitary example hiding behind some 5 packs. Talking of which, new ones; As usual, not very exciting, other than the inclusion of one of the "crushed" cars previously only found in some US monster truck packs as a bonus. If they did a 5 pack of just those I'd grab one as they'd be great for customising. The first release has proper metal bodies to but now are plastic, and the single one included isn't very exciting. Shame...
  8. Poor man could only afford a base model in brown Unlike Mr Show Off in his sports car
  9. Just in case no-one knows what I'm going on about!
  10. Yep same here - for what it's worth i may contact Tesco and Mattel and express my frustration
  11. I had a good look at the base and it's KS Toys. Annoyed with myself for not checking the bottom of the box for the roofrack, slim chance I know but... It's apparently a Majorette copy, so there's Mercedes 450 and St Tropez caravan to find too
  12. For the smaller stuff, got quite a few earlyish Matchbox all of which have been on here before so I won't post them all. These two I weren't something I'd laid eyes on before though Very clean ambulance Cav should always be bought if found as they seem to be harder to track down Yet another version of the Corgi Merc bus And another H.W. fake Matchbox Really early Majorette has been overpainted but appears complete ERTL Excaliber - never heard of the show/actor? Lots of Ultra Hots and Blackwalls This one reminds me of a kustom Morris Minor that was about in the 80s Redline Oddball transformer buggy Lone Star bus And another oddball - plastic MK1 Golf that I don't know the maker of
  13. Bank Holiday boot sale bonus day, decided to try a different one - found some good stuff but at least half the stalls were market type with brand new goods. A few interesting/comedy bits; And the cars. Plenty of older Matchbox and Corgi etc, got a good haul of Hot Wheels blackwalls and Ultra Hots too. Prices were a bit all over the place so a few went back in the box when too much was asked! One dealer had loads of interesting things but all jumbled together with broken cars and parts, fished out a few but don't feel I exactly got a bargain This was from said dealer, I know nothing about it but it's pressed steel and plastic, 1:43 and from Czechoslovakia This Bedford CA was also part of the deal And this Daytona rounding off the bigger cars are a Super Kings Brabham BT44B from the KP1 series that saw various older castings released in new colours with no decals - 50p for this one... and one third of a 3-for-£1 deal was this Scammell. Looks clean but is missing the grille and the towbar is broken
  14. Spotted this in a field with some modernz
  15. No, I know - just had in my head something about a toy one with stuff on the windscreen and somehow thought that Merc was something to do with it...too many cars!
  16. Here's that set with the Corgi Mercedes bus
  17. Ah yeah I knew you'd mentioned it before. Is there a Cortina with oil up the screen in a Bond set? Must be what I'm thinking of. Other side of the Merc is untoasted and was one of a trio today
  18. Right, some smaller stuff. Picked up a handful of tidy Corgis including this one that's part of a set - Bond? Minty Grabbed a handful of Hot Wheels blackwalls including this Thunderbird Give £5 for this carry case - which earned me a discount on several cars that were in it I always pick these up if they have uncracked pillars and all the spotlights - as this does I find these hard to resist too Think this is the earliest car I found So clean, shame about the stickers Came back with half a dozen Super GTs, this is the only one I hadn't found before Clean Tyrone Malone - did this come as part of a set? Only I found this in the tub too Never leave a 30p Supervan behind! This a shame - very stomped on World Class I have the Superkings version of this in the same colour There's a whole bunch of Convoy stuff A few Majorettes Finally some waifs, strays and wierdos. Shame one of these Buddy Ls is broken This is a good find - Rainbow Toys Mercedes SL ...and a bonus Escort Summer? Yatming Another Lido Gun-of-a-Car - why is it always the Renault?
  19. What flavour Jaaag do you have?
  20. Rude. It has taken me flipping hours going through all those cars, not too much in there that's amazingly rare but there are a few standouts, starting with the larger stuff... Do you remember me finding a Buddy L Spiderman Corvette a few years ago? Well today I located the van to go with it My most expensive single car purchase was this Corgi DMC time machine at £2.00 I don't really go for later Corgi repop stuff but for 50p I couldn't resist These two MK3s did not fare well in the big tub o'cars Corgi Range Rover's not too bad No name on this Countach Or this Alpine, but I believe it to be a High Speed Matchbox helicopter isn't one I'd seen before There are a load of commercial vehicles from Matchbox/Corgi and Majorette, CBA photograhing them as they don't especially interest me. They're in the overall pic I posted earlier though
  21. Well I would have had mine in the early 80s. Too young to remember where from but I have a strong memory of making it climb and tumble over in the hall of my mum's house. Checking on eBay has assured me it was a good buy as most others are lots more money and have no headlight lenses. When did barcodes become a thing? Box has none. Be careful what you Google!
