  1. Several months ago someone requested a Matchbox Autozam as they knew someone involved in their design - can't find the post now as the search function isn't the greatest. Anyway - I found two in B&M today They have 20% off toys this week And lots of Matchbox including that orange Kadett that was so hard to find originally
  2. I used a blade to carefully cut the glue, it can be re-stuck easy enough. I did intend to open and showcase the Moving Parts cars I've bought recently but just not had time - saved me a job on the BMW!
  3. New bits in Smyths I liked the Torino, but being as it's this exact release Just on a different card, I'll keep my £9 thanks
  4. She didn't have a full license but had various cars in the past driven on her provisional, including what sounds like a 4 door MK2 Escort Sport. I pushed her to take her test, now she has her Lupo and loves it
  5. Anyone got this tractor unit floating about?
  6. That Dinky Jag is mad, they must have been doing some serious 60s drugs when they came up with those colours
  7. Best combo I ever saw was a 1300 Ghia two door in signal green with a green interior. Old boy in Brentwood had it for donkeys years. I do remember an N plate near my mum's too, even in the early 90s they were unusual
  8. Check out Paint Factory pearl aerosols, I use them and the effect is mad. I bought them in QDs but I see them in various cheap hardware stalls, market etc Use very sparingly! This was pink over black Went a bit nuts on this one for a metalflake effect I put the tiniest dusting of pearl over this red just to liven it up a bit
  9. Bought this in the mid 90s, I was still a teenager. Did lots to it but eventually it went on eBay. Still out there, last pics that popped up were someone proposing they use it as a drift car Run to the Sun 1998 in my 1600 Ghia auto The previously midnight blue 1300 Ghia I ended up with. Drove like a sack of shite Signal amber 1300 Ghia I co-owned with my mate. Awesome colour 1600 Sport I bought out of the Basildon Evening Echo, fitted with a 2.0 Pinto using all the proper RS2000 mounts, bellhousing etc. I ended up scrapping it before realising it was registered alongside some of the works rally cars A random wide arch 4 door that turned up at work My friend's 1300 Ghia (same silver/red colour combo as my 1600), that had been his mum's when we were at school. He spotted it for sale in the local paper years later and bought it back. Was a low mileage car and everything felt tight, best driving Escort I've experienced Should be black behind the grille though
  10. All like that up to about '77, along with loads of detail changes. Engine size on the wings for one, quite early autos have AUTOMATIC badges under the rear number plate, single number plate light instead of two etc etc. Weirdest change I've discovered was door hinges on the estates. I put MK1 saloon doors on my '77 Estate after buying a '79 estate as a donor and funding they didn't fit, hard to describe but they swapped the sides on the top hinge.
  11. OK here are some of today's treasures If anyone fancies this Matchbox Major Pack Guy Warrior transporter it was £2 - needs work but at least has all its grey tyres I don't really "do" commercial stuff, so I sell on any Convoy bits I end up with - so of course I don't have the right tractor unit for this (I like Pepsi branded items) Guy was selling a handful of My First Matchbox for 50p each. Someone's got to look after them Other Matchbox include a late 'bird And a Prowler Going back a few decades, yet another Capri probably headed for my sales thread Blaze Buster is another unloved casting but this one is very nice, still looks capable of busting a few blazes GT40 has definitely had an eventful life Superfast Dodge Wreck Truck isn't bad though I'm not too completionist when it comes to Lesney's earlier efforts, some just don't appeal to me. These too were too cute to ignore though. Still amazes me you can buy a 60 year old toy for pence Legend has it the designer of the Majorette fox body Mustang saw the original car drive past at 80 MPH at night when it was foggy, and did the job from memory He did at least include some junk in the trunk for us though Talking of tatty red Majorettes Corgi Range Rover always seems to pop up, and there are many variations This was yesterday's There's something about the styling of a Scammell that appeals to me Today's best buy was a 50p Politoys Chevron Silliest was a Chinese pickup on fake Hot Wheels Ultra Hot rims Red hub Batmobile will go on to a new home via eBay So having decided I didn't need another Dinky Kubelwagen Or a giant Stratos And definitely not anything from here I came home
  12. I've got a nice late version with just the blanket A tattier early one with patient And a Superfast with patient (and many others in various states!)
  13. I must deduct you one internet point for failing to mention the ability to go as fast backwards as forwards, when discussing variomatic Volvos
  14. In the meantime time I shall mostly be browsing through this, a copy of which I had as a lad. Seems to be pretty much just one man's collection but I always found it fascinating Sadly this is yet another item that arrived damaged during delivery, thanks to Evri dragging it along the road by the look of it
  15. A few dozen Matchbox going up for sale at 7pm
  16. Alrighty then, let's start with the largest car and work down 924 Turbo is a radio controlled unit by that well known brand Super Radio Tron(?) No controller but for £2 I'm happy with it Next down, but far more impressive is this Bburago Rolls-Royce Camargue. I need to line this up with the Play Art effort I mean, proper branded Avon tyres? Love it Corgitronics Maestro can be yours for just £2 if you desire This was rather expensive from a dealer who also had the Roller. Never seen one in the metal before though Side profile is somewhat cartoon-like, reminds me of Mr. Incredible's car Found a couple of Playarts Matchbox Renault taxi Batboat for 50p, yes please Entertainer had another 4 or 5 boxes in, nabbed this Audi They also had new Matchbox, seen the mix before but don't remember clocking the new Defender Saw this in Oxfam, don't recognise the brand. Looked like a 1:18 Bburago Finally, this was in Smyths and I was meant to alert @Spottedlaurel but I forgot!
  17. Brentwood toy fair today, but I've decided to give it a miss as it kind of blows my head up having so much on offer. Early morning boot sale and a quick stop in Entertainer netted me a few bits though, and I'm going to try and sort out some more cars to sell while I'm still getting free eBay listings. Watch this space...
  18. Let's try Vinted and see how we get on: That's better, the slightly unobtainium Skyline, and safely boxed up too
  19. Naseby. Various others lurk behind the van One of the neighbours has this on SORN for the last year
  20. That one is also slightly irritating, listing shows the NS door sticker like this Not this Seems to a week of it, the Dragon Wheels card also has minor damage not shown in the listing. Guy that sold the lot of boxed Matchbox is basically saying tough shit, and that he deliberately underpaid the postage because the cars only went for 99p. What a tosser.
  21. Yet more Matchbox, but in boxes now. Firstly this Model A, perhaps not the most exciting casting but I really liked my childhood early cream and green version as depicted on the box Seller unfortunately just wrapped the lot in paper so the boxes got a bit of damage - as well as underpaying the postage Coming bang up to date, Modelmatic got a slew of Collectors and Moving Parts Finally, I spotted the last of the latest trio of Hot Wheels Team Transports for not much more than Smyths sell them for. No doubt that means there will dozens on the shelf next week
  22. Sticking with Matchbox, I gained a couple of Laser Wheels As well as a Super Kings K70 Porsche Turbo, I'd been on the lookout for a decent example of this release for a good while. It has had a couple of touch-ins on the "sunroof" sticker etc which an annoyance
