  1. Worth putting the impeller of the water pump in the vice given it’s getting replaced anyway?
  2. Night time action shot: I found a set of clear protective covers for the Hella Comet 550 on eBay to help protect them from stone chips, but mainly for extra giffer points. A set of proper Hella covers would be the ultimate giffer accessory, but I couldn’t be bothered taking them off every time I drove at night.
  3. Today was very fruitful day for spotting, First was a pair of Holdens, a 1980 WB One Tonner Ute and a 1985 RB Gemini. The WB Ute is fairly common sight as a popular classic, but the RB Gemini was rare when new and very uncommon and unloved these days. Next was this 1978 Holden UC Torana Coupe, the last of the line for the Torana. Very rare to see a Torana in such original condition, just careworn and well maintained. But the best was yet to come, just in the next row of the car park was a holy grail spot for me. It’s only a Rover 416i Vitesse!!! An Australia only rebadged Honda Integra saloon, that replaced the also Australia only Rover Quintet, a rebadged Honda Quint. An incredibly rare car that I have been looking to spot for years. This particular one is the top spec Vitesse as indicated by its alloy wheels and colour coded bumpers. It has come a long was as it is Victorian registered, which is very surprising given it is looking very shagged out.
  4. Just waiting for the 3rd member of the trio to arrive:
  5. Surely this needs to find its way to @captain_70s and be reunited with its namesake.
  6. Toyota were very reluctant to kill off the tape deck. From memory the last car fitted with a tape deck was the Lexus SC430 in 2010.
  7. For the sake of completeness, I did fit a set of driving lights under the bumper.
  8. I’ve always been a fan of driving lights. I think they look the ducks guts and are a practical accessory for the night time driver. Did I forget to mention they are as cool as penguin piss? I picked up a set of Hella Comet 550s second hand at a garage sale for next to nothing a few months back and I finally got around to fitting them. Wiring was done as per this diagram: And I’m sure you’ll agree that the finished article looks the part: Oh yeah!
  9. Did either 206 have an internal boot release? It wouldn’t surprise me if the base model would not have an internal release and a key instead, and a higher spec model gains an internal release instead of the key.
  10. Especially when she had that awful perm.
  11. I’d love to do similar to my S3 XJ. It would have to be a straight six, Toyota JZ, Nissan RB or Ford Barra. Turbocharged naturally, with a built auto (Turbo 400 or similar). Bodywork and interior restored as standard. Completely new wiring loom, suspension refreshed, full stainless exhaust. That being said, I think the 4.2 XK engine would be a cracker fully rebuilt with modern EFI and engine management, possibly with forced induction.
  12. Have you confirmed the rumours that the boot light is an ancient Austin Rover parts bin special left over from the Maestro or something.
  13. It’s a vote for red from me. The spotlights get lost in the silver and the black isn’t right for a Maestro. The ‘90s tat is something I enjoy collecting too, the perfect blend of practicality and tacky. I’m thinking of putting a set of fog lamps under the bumper.
