Ding dong! Mail call! More GM shite arrives at Mini-Cavcraft towers.

This is one I've been wanting for a long while. I've seen the official Ixo branded version (silver) and there seems to be two partwork versions, in white, and this black one. I recently missed out on the Ixo version for £17 on eBay and kicked myself for it as they rarely appear for less than the £30 mark, whether partwork or not. So when I saw this for less than £7 from a French seller with £6 postage.. Oui, Merci beaucoup!

For a partwork, the packaging isn't bad. A nice card background inside the clear case, with a facts & figures card on the back (reminds me of the underneath of 70s and 80s Siku cars).

    Nice plinth as well,

The model itself is a good 'un, nicely detailed headlights, and grille with GTE logo. Liking the Manta style door mirrors too,

Paint is nice and shiny, the shape is absolutely bob-on and oh, those wheels make it don't they?

Interior is well done, check out those Recaros,

The rear end is just as good, I like the rear screen elements, nice tail lights and, though the potato cam pics don't show it well, the GTE logo on the boot even has the tiny 'fuel injection' lettering in red underneath,

Sadly, it is going to have to stay on the plinth for now, as underneath we have the Ixo curse,

A triangular screwdriver is on order...

So as a result of the daft impulsiveness mentioned above, the hit list is now reduced in cost to:
Red Ken & Mary Police Skyline to go with my White Ken & Mary Police Skyline

HW 2-door Hudson Hornet to go with my Matchbox 4-door one, all liveries considered but this tips the pack:

A BMW 2002 in this livery, the reverse of the one in that current 5-pack

VW SP2, been around since the ark of the covenant, but this colour scheme appeals

I haz bin acquiring a few more 1/43’s.
    Russkie's first!
    SSM ZIL 157 flatbed.

    GAZ 14 limo.

    IXO models GAZ 12

And lastly an impulse buy. Another GAZ 13, but a much older diecast model from ‘Yanka’ made in USSR. Never heard of them before but it’s a nice casting and has opening doors and boot.

Now a capitalist pig dog automobile!
NEO Volvo 760 GLE. Really nice model and the interior looks spot on too.

Ive also got a Volvo 780 coupe and Volvo 244 coming from France & Germany yet to arrive. And a ZIL 131 military mobile generator set and URAL 375 command truck coming from Russia...
I also decided to get a couple of cheapo display cabinets for my 1/43 stuff. I’ve been buying them and then they just sit in their boxes under beds or on top of wardrobes etc, not really being seen. Now I can put them in these and appropriate them a bit more!

Well goodness me, had a notion that I had looked at these photos fairly recently, opened the first pack of photos to hand (I have thousands going way back) and the first four photos were of my Galaxie, think it was HKT84D, imported new by Lincoln Cars, Ford's import centre for US/Canadian, German and Aussie Fords. Still had their nice metal plaque on the dash. Incidentally the RHD Galaxies had a different dash, think it was from a circa 61/62 Lincoln Continental.  I was wrong about the hubcaps, had the two correct ones on the right and different ones on the left. Dual exhaust pipes for four barrel woofling. It didn't have a lot of rust, the bottom of the rear quarters had some grot, think there was some in the front arches but overall it was a solid old thing.

Up on axle stands today since I got my jack back.
Lots of crusty patches in all footwells. Sills, chassis and boot are all super solid. Only small amounts of oil seepage from the various components, not enough for a drip. Great news overall I think.
Will become a YouTube certified master welder in the next 2 weeks and then borrow some welding kit from my dad. Not a clue about welding but i'm inspired by @captain_70s efforts

Also @59Impala, your Galaxie was an absolute stunner. Thanks for sharing ?

A productive visit to yesterday's toy fair in Norwich.......

Good to find an additional MIB Superfast, even if it was a little more than I used to pay back in the '90s. Most of the rest are tidy gap fillers until MIB examples come along.

    Corgis big and small.

Majorettes. The GS Camargue was a new one to me, both as a diecast an in real life.

Random stuff, none of it very expensive. The HW MX5 was from a Tesco visit later in the day (no good Matchbox there). I wish I'd had more time to root through the tat boxes, could have come away with a lot more for not much money.

There are pics somewhere in my house but where could they be? Being back in the olden times they will be actual real photos so it would be a case of if I stumble across any by chance. Actually my Galaxie did have four hubcaps but only three were correct. It was quite nice to drive, smooth and quiet. I used to live in a dead end road directly opposite the entrance to a primary school, there were only seven houses and mine was the only one with a garage and drive. On said drive lurked the Galaxie so not difficult to spot but one afternoon a woman parked right across my drive in something like a Fiat Uno. Obviously it was of no importance to her that I may have wished to go out and she gave the Galaxie a sneery sort of look. So I backed it up to about three inches from her door, sat back and waited. Back she came with small child only to discover that she couldn't of course enter her vehicle via the driver's door. It was amusing to watch her have to scrabble across from the passenger side. Had she asked me to move the Galaxie I would have refused as a matter of principle and of course the Galaxie could easily have pushed her Fiat across the road without breaking into a sweat. I really hate people  that park across driveways especially when there is a car parked on it.

Well, the trees and decs went back in the loft today. Unusually I didn't get anything diecast related for Christmas this year, so I had my usual nose around my stash and came across another for the occasional 'blimey, I didn't remember buying that' series.

    See what it is yet?

    Yup. (F'ing COUPÉ though???)

Not something you see often, I quite like the Detail Cars stuff, especially the MK1 Capri that I also have, they're nicely rendered things and though they date from well over a decade ago, they stand well with more recent offerings. I've been hunting for their MK1 Fiesta 1300 S in signal yellow for ages but they go for silly money now.

For my money, they capture the Corty mk1's shape very well, far far better than the Vanguard MK1 (carried over from  the Corgi Classic days) with its massive wheelarches.
I don't really have a lot of chod from the early 60s (late 60s/early 70s  onwards seems to be more my thing), I think the colour scheme made me choose this. Nice representation of Ford (I think) Goodwood green and the tan interior sets it off. Seat patterns and door cards are nicely done and the correctly cranked over gear knob is there. The three spoke sports steering wheel with drilled spokes looks a tad out of place though.

Only real exterior complaint is the rear end looks a bit sparse without badging. I also wasn't really keen on the whitewall tyres.   So after turning the tyres around on the rims,

Miles better IMO. I like the top of the range Super style slotted wheel embellishers on this.
Up for grabs if anyone fancies it, but if not, it may get some display time...
