I gave up on threads a while ago but I have wanted one of these cars since they were brand new, plus I think things might get interesting*. So here goes.
So far I count myself as the EIGHTH AS member who has owned this, including the chap who posted it for sale in behalf of the then owner. I think that's pretty great. I hope when I die I return as a car that goes around the country bringing joy to a whole range of different owners.

    So far we've had
    Jon.k
    Northernmonkey
    Robson3022
    Paulplom
    Kiltox
    83C
    Schaefft
    Yours truly.
The first didn't technically own it, he simply posted it for sale on behalf of the owner who had originally wanted to scrap it because of a pulley on the engine which had come adrift. So kudos to John.k for saving what certainly feels like a car which had plenty of life left.
In short (because it is documented elsewhere) it was owned by Westley Richards gunsmiths manufacturer in the West Midlands. It was a personal car to the directly and then used to chauffeur some very wealthy (like Arab Royalty wealthy) to and from the premises.
After Jon.k's arm was bitten off by NorthernMonkey, it passed through varioous members' hands and gave generally good service along the way.
I promised myself I'd own it one day.

I know where that came from, and I know the guy who transported it. Just went past on the bus, noticed it wasn't there and wondered where it had gone, then logged on here and got the answer.

This is not what you think!
Yes we have had delivered a 1979 Mercedes 450SLC to the FoD, but it is not ours. It belongs to Colin from the Milton Keynes Classic Car Club and he has just bought it. The car has been stood for 10 years unused. The engine turns over and the car does not look very rusty so the aim is to get it running and driving. The plan is Colin will join us 20/21 April for the FoD event.

and while the websites will tell you 10 euro its 16
also its a fair walk past and in and through the u bahn station then uop the slope but you will end up right in front of the western entrance at hall 3
also if you rip thru and finish at hall 1 you have to walk all the way back as 3 its a right angle building - is at the bottom 1 is in the far right hand top corner

Little bits though, with something like this. Every new idea and 5 min spent is a bit closer to a solution, even if it doesn't feel like it.

    And prettier bridges

In an interesting factoid I have bought a car of this brand and body type before. Also from Anglesey. On that trip I stopped to check over the car ten minutes into the journey… in a car park about 20 seconds away from where I have picked this one up from.

Every two hours there is a train from Prague to Budapest via Brno, Břeclav and Bratislava. They use a mix of Czech, Slovak and Hungarian stock. It's all different but all really good quality and you never know what you're going to get (I'm sure somebody knows but I don't). Whatever the stock, it is usually hauled by a Škoda 109E so that's a bonus too.
On the hours in between there is a train from Prague to Vienna and usually on to somewhere else in Austria which runs the same route as far as Břeclav and is formed of Austrian stock and also has a full restaurant car. So you can get restaurant cars from four different countries on the same route. It is very civilised.

    well 400 miles covered today
furthest I’ve ever driven this car, absolutely no issues at all which is pleasing!
    All 7 spheres now replaced
both centre spheres were full of oil, no gas at all
corner spheres were between 0 and 10 PSI
    accumulator was about dead too
suffice to say, 7 brand new spheres have completely transformed the car, it actually has suspension now, stays up for longer and just feels fantastic
    it has float!

A good train journey is absolutely the best way to travel. Unfortunately there aren't many of those left in this country anymore.
This was a trip from Brno to Prague last year. Even at 5.30 in the morning the restaurant car was open and practically empty. So I had their version of a full English (they were giant baked beans and the sausage was a frankfurter type).

    Followed by cake.

With two coffees, all for about £10.
    In these surroundings.

    What's not to like?
