  1. Those floor matts look very good.
  2. Successful appeal against a £100 parking charge. "Well done that man".
  3. Good work and great post. Thank you. I need to do the same on my 2005 Civc Hatcback, both bumpers need the same treatment. If they end up half as good as your bumpers on the Mazda, I will count that as a success.
  4. Huw, I was reading your thread on changing piston rings. My experience is as follows:

Try using a 10-40 oil with a half litre of ATF-U in with it. I tried this on my Honda 125 twin bike and it stopped all the oil burning. The bike stood outside negected for 3 years before I got it running again with the old oil. The engine ran with lots of white smoke and its air cooled. With new oil and some ATF-U in with it, it does not smoke and no longer uses oil. I think the oil conntrol rings were stuck in the grooves and new oil  with the ATF-U cured that. ATF-U is about 30 SAE.  Once you start pulling engines apart, the time and  costs start to mount up quickly. Give it a try.

    Best wishes. Thomas.

Thanks Thomas - I'll give it a go! Do you leave the ATF-U in permanently, or just for a few tens/hundreds/thousands miles? The issue is almost certainly the rings, they are renowned for it, and it was more of a ponder than serious intent to rip the engine to bits. I need to keep reminding myself that perfect is the enemy of good, its a fundamentally good car, but is nearly 20 years old so has outlived its design life by 50% already.

  5. A big shout out to Max for all the work, effort, problem solving, etc, he has put into keeping this car alive for many more years. I am reminded of a line from one of Shakespears plays about not being able to command success but being deserving of it. Max certainly deserved this success. Well done Max, I hope you get lots of enjoyment from driving this car.
  6. How are you getting on with the Citroen brakes,  has your Lexia gadget arrived yet?

    Best wishes. Thomas.

Lexia arrived, brakes all sorted. Did an update on my main fleet thread, but not on the brake bleeding thread.

      Cheers

  7. It seems a bit drastic to demolish the whole bloody garage just because you keep banging your head on the door!
  8. I would try Dielectric Silicone Grease, I dont tink you can go far wrong with that. Garage shops sometimes have small sashet;s of it, and its white in appearance. Bought a small 50 Gram tin to use on a Video Cassete Player mechanism a few months back, £3.90 from Ebay. It was overkill for what you need. Good luck.
  9. Engine surging. On my Rover 820, the cause of the engine surging was traced to broken wires to the oxygen sensor. Wont do any harm to check that.
