So first things first with the resto, i needed to replace the boot floor section as it was pretty rotten what turned out to be a smaller area turned out to be much larger in the end, the grommet holes after grinding down had weakened quite a lot so i just decided to replace the whole lot the panel i put in was loads better. the central piece which the spare wheel screws into was that rotten it just snapped off in my hand, (cool souvenir i guess)

But yes, here is the state of the boot floor, before the welding. As said, the areas i grinded were too thin to weld to by the time i got to fresh clean metal so it just made sense to use more of the donor panel.

here is a test fitment with the panel, not cut to size yet but wanted to make sure that all of it was lining up well.  for those wondering this panel was taken from an R8 as they share the same rear floor panels.

Here is the panel i cut out i was glad i cut out more than anticipated as the rust had crept under the underseal. In order for me to do this properly i wanted to but weld the new panel in, which resulted in a lot of hours spent testing fitments and making sure i dont trim too much of the material.

Heres some of the welding i did, not too bad for a first attempt, a bit bird crappy in some places but thats to be expected from a novice. Although the majority of it, i was really happy with and the main thing was penetration was plenty and the fitment was spot on.

Here it is all painted and seam sealed, I am probably thinking of coming back to this actually and removing the seam sealer and grinding the welds down now, as ive been looking at finger sanders, using a standard grinder i could not get into the ribs of the panel. I also had to do a slight repair to the area in the middle as there was a few pinholes which needed to be addressed.

Those are the welds on the underside, so plenty of penetration.
Its far from perfect but for a first attempt at a body repair im pretty pleased and i can always go back to it if i want to tidy it up  i think the most awkward part was doing some upside down plug welds to fit the tow eye mount back on to the new panel. but managed to get it all on in the end and gave it a test to see if it was strong by jacking it up there and it was all solid and fine so im pleased

War has broken out between my neighbour and myself! All the major roads around here have been closed since the storm (although one - the A90 - has patially opened today) so all the shops are empty of food. Yesterday, on the way back home, I stopped to talk to my neighbour Dave and told him about the situation. He said he was lucky, his daughter had brought his stocks in at the weekend, so he was fine except for bread. I told him that as I was away until the storm hit, stocks were low but I had the freezer to fall back on. Dave immediately nipped into his house and came back with a pile of lamb chops from one of his animals (the rest was about to go in his freezer before you say anything  ).
Last night, after my dinner of lamb chops I made some bread and some cheese scones, so this morning I went to see Dave and gave him a loaf and some scones.
Dave has just been down and dropped some veg in to me as he had been lifting some for himself

Two types of tatties, beetroot, carrots and parsnips. Dave is currently winning the war, not sure what else I can do for him to level the score!
When I read of people on here having trouble with their neighbours, I realise how lucky I am to have neighbours like I do!

All quiet now. Grass season over for us. I came back early from holiday for the funeral.
Black car is sold. We now have one Special and one Yaris ready to race, just seat needs adjustment. and stickers, or maybe a re panel.
Another Yaris is half way built.
Ste won a f/b raffle to race a Saloon Stock Car a while ago.
This will take place at King Lynn this Saturday.

    Thanks for caring.
More alive than ever. Been busy getting to know the young lady. It's a strange, but very nice,  experience. Off to Lincoln, Brayford Pool overnight today.
Too many cars now. No room to function. May have to sell one.
Forgot to mention, my other twin grandchildren have also been winning trophies in their car.

Holiday went well, another holiday soon,
Racing has been uneventfull. Hannah still wins, Stephen rarely. Amelia does her own thing at her own speed.
Started to build a third Yaris.

    However.
    This turned up.

F600 Autograss Special. Bike engine, 600 Suzuki iirc.
Plan is for Hannah and Stephen to share it eventually,
Should be able to buy a twin car trailer and tow Yaris and Special whilst still under the weight limits.
Had a practise today. Accelerator cable broke (Tandem bike cable). we had a spare, but at home in the garage!
Pedals need moving for comfort and maybe need thicker cable on accelerator.
Future updates may come along soon.

As title says 'Life,' and I reported my wife's death 3-1/2 years ago.
It's only right to mention that  I have somehow managed to find a new lovely lady.
It's very new,  but we are off to Sunny Beach quite soon on holiday.

    Small update.
Amelia continues to make slow progress. Is going Etihad Stadium Car Park this weekend for under age driving tuition in a driving school car.
We figure it may give her more confidence.
Hannah won the final last Sunday.
Ian's wife Julie had her first go last weekend and did really well.
We are starting to build a new car. Photos will appears as it goes along. .The black Yaris has seen better days, but still goes well.
There is now an empty Yaris space in my garden

She must have been near the front, there's only 8 cars in the race and she went over sideways before end over end
Two new bottom arms, new rack, new strut. radiator. Bonnet, door skin and  and wing knackered , but going back on again.
Left it for now, need to fix other car for weekend, which may well be cancelled with the rain.

An eventful weekends racing at Blyton raceway
Amelia was slow in her first race Sat, so I fixed*the gear change with a cable tie.
Seemed to do the trick, she improved as the weekend went on. We gave her a target.
There are 8 cars per race and she was in with the new starters.
    Try not to come last!
Sunday,  drawn 8 no hope there. Set off like a rocket, was in second place.
Decided she was going too fast and slowed down.
As the others passed there was an altercation resulting in an innocent Amelia being attacked by another car. Damage to Wing, bumper and bottom arm.
Much crying involved but unhurt. Shall we leave it for today? No I'm going again, so we fixed* it, and off she went.
Finished next to last, which was all we asked.  Everyone's happy with that,
Car looks a bit sad, I'll try and put a photo up later.

Hannah also raced. Won the first heat, Third in the second heat. By this time I'd left to take Amelia's car home, it's difficult unloading 2 at once.
I get a phone call. Hannah qualified for the final which was last race of the day.
Drawn 7, hard from there. Ste  told her to leather it round the outside and try to cut inside around  the apex of the first bend.
This went well until the car from lane 2? attacked her resulting in a very spectacular roll.
Her kIds were watching from the same bend and began screaming. She could hear them from the car.
All OK, Car is a mess. There's video footage which I don't think is allowed even if I knew how to do it.
It's on her f/b, Hannah Mallinson if you fancy a watch.
    She quite enjoyed it seemingly.
Edit, because it was the last race and they were over time, they cancelled the race and awarded positions from previous points.
This gave Hannah 3rd place and a rather nice trophy.

I contacted the seller, explained my reasons and offered him £20 BIN.
He accepted that I had prior claim in the circumstances and sold it me for a fiver.

That's me, no 46. I won that race and it's verified inside. I lost my copy in an house move somehow.

I assume Amelia has found it by now, been difficult to keep the garage out of bounds.
Still a few small jobs, but it may get a test run soon.

Came around half way in another race and 2 non finishes. was going hard for 3rd place in last event and spun.
Says they are hard work, steering very heavy. Was trying to pass the guy who owned it when he spun.

50/50 antifreeze water mix works fine, yes.
Might be worth picking up a spare Schrader valve innards before you begin, too - easily liberated from a spare wheel with a valve key.
Just pump it up and see where it squirts out!

I think I mentioned in my circus thread about the Brazilian globe bikers truck which we are pretty sure came from a scrapyard and didn't have any instruments. It didn't come up on the vehicle check site so must have been in a grey area between sold and scrapped. Or something like that. These guys have a manager and it was he who bought the truck, although it seems he is in prison somewhere. No more details about that for the moment.
On the way from Plymouth to Arscot they got pulled by plod on the M5 near Bristol for not having lights on the back of the caravan they had. Upshot was they had no Mot, tax or insurance and the driver didn't happen to have that rather important document, a licence. So basically in the shit big style. It seems at this point plod in his infinite* wisdom started looking at passports and came to the conclusion that one of them, Edge, was an illegal immigrant and hoicked him down the station and locked him up. They came to this conclusion without really looking at his visa stamp which clearly dated that it was good till the end Nov. It wasn't until the next morning that the mistake was noticed so plod, not wanting the embarrassment of having locked somebody up when they obviously shouldn't have and it getting out to press, social medja etc decided that the exit from this possible mess was to drop all the charges and hope it all went away quietly. Which it did as keeping your head down seemed the best route under the circumstances. Unlawful imprisonment. Could go to a lawyer with that. Probably a good case. Plod kept the truck, which was probably a good thing, and Jeff the mechanic took a low loader and a tele handler down to get all their gear. So that's another truck needed before going to Holland end of next week.
That's it for now from Circusshite.

I've just had a phone call to say that my Nieces's husband, Brian  has been killed at work today.
Fell through a floor. He was a plumber by trade. But in general building last I heard. Used to help me often.
Has 2 sons, both Married.  We often looked after my niece in her younger years.
