Amazing, thanks John, I may we'll take you up on that.Just PM'd you my number fella - I'm in Brussels - slap bang in the middle of SPA and Brugge - so a garage with tools is available if you need it dude....... very best of luck finding the bits. If you don't - as you have a couple of days in Brugge - I could contact the Belgian Triumph lot - there's a Triumph specialist in Belgium but I think they basically order from Rimmer Bros.......
Here's my number in case the PM doesn't reach you. - 0032 476 06 88 30
John
I managed to grab the bearings first thing this morning from a bearing wholesaler in Freiburg, have fitted them and am currently just going past Luxembourg - all good so far!
No luck with the pads unfortunately, and it looks like one of the piston calipers is a bit stuck, which makes sense as the brakes also pull slightly. I'll keep looking for them nearby.

Might be a good idea to bung new pads in whilst you're at it?
Definitely, I'm having a hunt now!

Just got the other bearing off - it's absolutely perfect. A very small amount of grease spatter around the wheel, I imagine from the brakes getting hot on the Alps as well.
-
I'm in the Midlands, NottinghamIf they can't help then I am pretty sure they would be able to point you in the right direction for a supplier. Might be worth checking the other side as well.
Whereabouts in the UK are you normally?
-
As an aside, would it be a stupid idea to swap the wheel bearing with the other side?
This crap bearing only sounds bad when going forward, in reverse it's alright. If I swap it with the other side, the other side will be ok going forward, but crap in reverse.
As the bodge of all bodges if I can't get a part, would that be a slight improvement?

Try these people, they are old timer engineers and are in Freiburg, they mention Triumph on the website.

Amazing!!!
850m from where I'm staying. Fingers crossed they have the part.

That is very bad indeed. I would have recommended that you join the Toledo section on fb and arranged some Italian contacts just in case.
Where are you now?
In Freiburg, and supposed to be going to Spa tomorrow!
I think I'm in that group (quite a small one I think) - I'll post there now.

Right,I'm doing car repairs at 10pm on the table of an AirBnB
Managed to get the bearings off the car.
This one sounds ropey:
And this one sounds ok:
Sorry for my not having a clue, what should I do now? I have wd40 to give them a clean, but no grease with me - I can go out and buy some first thing tomorrow morning though.
-
It's front discs, on that side one of the pads is really low, almost on metal - went through the Alps yesterday which didn't help! I'll see if I can get to a position where I can repack it.

Hi all,
I've done something unnecessary and bought the Toledo in Italy and am currently partway through the collection caper home.
In Freiburg and run into potential difficultly - the wheel bearing sounds pretty ropey. I'm planning on doing 250 miles to Spa tomorrow, is that sensible? Then on Friday 150 miles to Bruges where I'm staying for 2 nights.
Video in next post of bearing.
When I'm safely home I'll update with many pics, but a couple of teasers coming up.
Cheers,
Pete

If you'd be willing to post (which I'd cover obviously) I'd be keen for the bottom left one - 'British sports car vs 3 foreigners'
No worries if not though, as you say it is faff!

I just did my first trackday, took the Porsche 924s round Donington.
My racing line was decent but I'm poor at knowing when to brake and apply throttle when going through corners. Locked up and went deep into corners a couple of times and spun once at the chicane between the straights.
Also lots of other race cars there who were bloody quick!
I think I was lapping about 1:45-ish, not that fast but room for improvement with some practice.
A fun first go!

Dollywobbler is probably your man to advise on recent experience in this area. You might then try Hagerty Insurance to arrange suitable cover for your trip. At least one of the Hagerty staff members is an AS member and they tend to be quite pragmatic about such things. DW has a 2CV like the one in your picture too.
Is that your Triumph Herald next to it? If so, do tell us more!
Excellent, i'll send him a message.
It was my Herald, but I sold it to a friend a few months back. I bought it from a thread on this website - it was Jersey registered - did a fair bit of work to it, got it MOT'd and registered, drove it and realised I wasn't that much of a fan!
Replaced it with a Porsche 924s which had been off the road for 10 years and also needed some light* welding.
Triumph Toledo collection troubles - urgent advice needed!

On to Bruges tomorrow for 2 nights, then back to Blighty and a much needed brake overhaul.
