Scrap all that the bastards lied to me, they won't insure me at all. Neither will footman james, it's insurance group 21 and they only do up to 20 at my age, what complete and total fucking bollocks. I'm just totally fed up now. What's the point, might as well just sell everything as there's no chance of insuring anything any time soon. Maybe by the time I'm 35? What do you think? I can't believe I can't insure a slower less powerful car than I'm already insured on. It's absolutely insane. Total joke.

That's a classic import insurance policy with adrian flux, with a 6000 mile limit. I'm 23 I'm not going to get anything better than that.

Sorry for the total lack of updates, but truth be told there hasn't been any. I'm absolutely skint so can't do anything with any of them. In some good news though I got a really good quote for insuring the Taunus at £600 so that's going to be insured pretty soon I hope. Just need to get it an MOT. For which it'll need a little welding, but can't do that as my gas reg won't seal. So pretty irritating all round. Oh and the 2 front tyres on the Taunus went totally flat. So if anyone's got any tyres suitable for a 13x6 wheel let me know

Looks more like The Riker to me

Merc W124 200D Berlin Taxi LHD FOAR SHAYLE £350
ChristinaGXL replied to Mr_Bo11ox's topic in AutoShite
I guess it's a taxi for pootling around a city, doesn't need to get up any great speed. Total bargain that is! can join my taunus reversing through maccies -
Hey mine doesn't have any tape! Power steering fluid is actually coming out at a slightly alarming rate now though. I'm being lazy and just topping it up whereas a jubilee clip would probably solve my woes.
-
It's got a 2.3 fitted now so it's basically a mirror image of a Mk5 Cortina 2.3 Ghia. Oh and it has headlight washers as standard on the ghia and front and rear towing eyes. From what I've noticed UK buyers were ripped off. The amount of features european cars had compared to ours is odd.

I apologise about all the beauty shots, I'll get round so some good ol fashined wrenching soon! I just spent the past 3 days cleaning it. I think it was stored in a bodyshop, so caked in dirt. Spent a good 4 hours cleaning then polishing then waxing it today. There's a few little niggles; Brakes - There are none. at all. Reservoir is full of fluid, but pedal goes straight to the floor. I guess I'll just do a full rebuild anyway for peace of mind. Oil pressure light - flickers when idling, goes out at higher revs. It's a little low on oil so I'm hoping a top up and maybe a new oil pressure switch will sort that out? Ignition gubbins - I always do this when I get something as they're all so cheap and easy to do. I think it's got a bit of a misfire as it's got an irregular drum beat. So points, condenser, rotor arm, dizzy cap, leads, plugs, coil too for good measure. Exhaust. It's rotten. blowing from a few places. Replacement needed. But I hate to buy a new standard exhaust when I want a twin exit. I might get crafty with the welder, maybe This is why I need a tig welder!

Yep its basically a mirror image. Only foreign spec stuff I can see so far is the towing eyes front and rear.

I had no idea these were that old So strange to see what I think of as modern cars on old style plates

Ronald Mc_Bo11ox's LAGUNA ODYSSEY OMG FTP SOS ETC LOL
ChristinaGXL replied to Mr_Bo11ox's topic in AutoShite
I can't believe I've just read all this. I expected a thread of hating lagunas and within a few pages you've come to love them. Madness. -
Fourthded. Love that place, spent too much time in there climbing over stuff and under things.

I spent the morning cleaning it, there seems to be underseal overspray all over it, it's been a nightmare to get off. I managed to clean just under half of it before it started raining. I also cleaned out the interior which cleaned up pretty well. Really need to get a fuel filler flap painted up. The interior needs another clean, it's like the first clean is to dislodge the dirt, then you have to go over it again. The carpet has faded to green too in lots of places, It has spent most of it's life in the sun. I'll have to dye it a darker brown.

It's here! Someone's robbed me wheel! Ah no there it is Really weird. Doesn't take long for one of the cats to take up residence Then it got dark, so proper pics will have to wait till tomorrow. This shows it is from Switzerland, from the history it looks like it was serviced in the garage it was bought new in up till 2000. Now the starter seems to have packed in, or got stuck. I'll have to whack it with a big ammer tomorrow see if that gets it going.

My mondeo is £2400 to insure at 23. I hope to god the Taunus isn't going to be insane, really don't want to have to take the mondeo off the road.
-
I actually have no idea, the seller told me it came from sweden, but the dealer sticker in the window suggests it's from switzerland. I'll have to ask him about it actually.

It's been a hell of a weekend! 800 miles in my trusty Mondeo. 300 on saturday, Half of which towing another mondeo my friend bought. Then a 500 mile round trip (499.5 to be exact) to Southend on Sea to collect a GXL interior Converted my Mondeo to van mode by removing the rear seats. I was hoping to put the cortina rear bench where the mondeo one sat, but it was too wide! Then I found a vulcan! I love the vulcan, I can't believe I'll never see one in the skies again though After collecting the bits we spent the evening in Southend, which was actually a lot of fun. Wasted a few quid on the 2p machines Then the next day the chap who bought the cavalier came to collect it, he couldn't stop smiling which makes me really happy. I was so scared that it might end up going to someone who'd break it or not look after it. So I feel much better. So off she goes. I'm a little sad, but happy that the Taunus is coming soon. My mum thinks there'll be time to clean the drive! oooopsy! After that I decided to unload the car, and check my loot 10 door cards in all, sadly I still need to find a drivers front. Absolutely minty mint parcel shelf and some great condition seats, a couple of little tears but hopefully it won't be too expensive to get them repaired. I'm still exhausted, that was a hell of a weekend! My transport guy is going for the Taunus tomorrow, so expect lots of piccies soon
-
Deposit in hand for the Cav, if I held out for longer I could possibly have gotten a little more, but I've got enough to transport my Taunus which was the priority as it's stored at a friend of the seller's unit so I want to get that sorted soon as possible.
-
Scouse! definitely scouse! I just live with them...
-
I had someone come to view the car today, and they've made a pretty decent offer and they're going to leave a deposit tomorrow. They're really local too which makes things pretty easy so sort out. They've got a lovely mk3 cav too so It's going to a good home.

Cav is up on ebay, surely shite enough for one of you wonderful people http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252346368178?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Thanks for the welcomes I'll get some interior pics of the mondeo when it's been cleaned out, it's a bit of a tip in there at the moment. Also the mk3 has no interior at the moment, and the Taunus is in scotland so can't get any of that. But here's the cav, I have no idea how this has happened in 43k miles. Poor materials? It's a really nicely designed interior, the car is surprisingly small though, a fair bit smaller than the cortina. I'm pretty tall and I find it's a little too small for me. Pedals are a little too close.
