  2. Apparently Buick have a tiny share of the US market now, but are popular in China!
  3. Reminiscent of the wheels that appeared on many Vauxhall styling mockups of this period, as seen several times at Vauxpedia FE page (about halfway down the page) but I don't think they made it onto any production Vauxhall.
  4. Panhard! I thought that name was long gone, but according to Wikipedia they did continue to make armoured vehicles until 2018 and they were indeed owned by Renault in their final years.
  5. Just putting this here so we know what the hell we were talking about once the Ebay listing disappears: Shame there's no numberplate in the listing.

  7. No, there was a base model that didn't even have wheel trims, called "Sierra Sapphire Saloon". Not to be confused with "Sierra Saloon" which was the base model hatchback! These base models didn't get a single picture in the brochure. Sep 1987 Ford Cars brochure
  8. I've got March 1987 and September 1987, both show central locking as standard on GL and above, optional on LX. So the boot cable is a mystery!
  9. It's a shame it's not quite what you expected and £4k probably was a bit steep, but the condition of that interior is impressive and suggests the low mileage could be genuine.
  10. 592. 1996 Peugeot 405 LX estate Seen near Lewes, East Sussex on 16th October. From the period when the 405 saloon had been discontinued but the 405 estate continued alongside the 406 saloon. 11. They didn't do a 1.3 auto, or a 1.3 Ghia, or a 3 door Ghia, at least not for the UK market.
  12. They did rather half heartedly sell them here, only in the 1984 model year and only in base and L trim. September 1983 brochure on Flickr My only experience of Sierra ownership was H172HMJ which I bought in 2001 for £200 and gave away for nothing to a scrap dealer in 2005. It was a good car really, a bottom of the range 1.6 saloon "Sapphire Classic" but a combination of rust and a knackered carb meant it wasn't worth keeping it going in the end. Sadly I never took a photo of it! But it was a capable comfortable car, not the easiest to park with no power steering but great for covering long distances.
  13. Car ferry from Malta to Sicily, another ferry to the Italian mainland, could make for an epic collection thread!
  14. Seems cheap at £2500. Far less than a Cortina of the same vintage. No "old school Ford tax" on Mark 4s?
  15. Ford 4 speed automatics first appeared in the Sierra in 1984, they weren't put in the Granada until the Mark 3 was launched in 1985.
  16. Plough at Pyecombe Royal Oak at Poynings Both very rural areas, though, not so sure about towns although I'm sure I've been in a decent pub in Eastbourne, just can't remember which one!
  17. The 262C looks so weird, like a chopped 264. 262/264 brochure 1980
  18. I suppose with £40k today I would buy an electric car, although whether they can do 15 years or 250,000 miles is anyone's guess! For £40k and avoiding bloated blobby things, a VW ID3 looks alright. Shame they don't do an estate version. £25k in 1995 would give you more choice than £40k today, I reckon.
  19. Weird that I don't remember such a thing, my Dad had an A reg Cavalier L and it's the sort of thing I thought I would remember, being fascinated by cars from a young age.
  20. Probably the first car to have square headlights, does anyone know of an earlier example?
  21. What's this? Some sort of key for raising the radio ariel? The answer is probably in the description somewhere, but that's about 10,000 words long.
  22. Nice bit of bASe, but I'm a bit disappointed that it's not the 1.2 for maximum mingebaggery.
  23. And definitely do not change that number plate!
