  1. This sums up everything pretty well though and you just seem to miss the point Dez. Someone’s trying to help get the thing simply running - starting - stopping for you. It then turns into all those words above with people having to go and cross reference multiple part numbers and to the extremes of you asking them if they will sell parts off of their own vehicles thus losing originality of their own car just so you get the exact part numbered item you want (note want rather than need) for yours? Surely the logical thing would be to say right ok the person who is kindly doing the work out of the goodness of trying to help you needs X part, let’s not fuck about with all of that above, let’s just get A carb over to him quick snap. What I’m getting at is that all these people who are trying to help you have their own lives, jobs, families as well as trying to help you out. Why not just do things the quickest and easiest way to get the basics done so you get the car home like you’re so desperate to have? Then finding exact part numbered replacements can be an ongoing thing over more time.
  2. I could’ve sworn you posted a while ago that you had all the spare parts you could need ready to go? Now after all this time and knowing the carb was having major issues, you’re relying on someone else to look through a box of spares to see if they have something they could send? It’s things like this slipping out the woodwork that make me wonder if there’s more to this story than meets the eye?! I don’t think you can set your expectations that @red5 is doing a wheeler dealers resto for you here, I know we all have a perception of how things are said but knowing the state of this thing and how knackered it is, driveable would be (IMO) so that it starts and stops, this type of vehicle will simply never be ‘finished’ and even if you got to a point of it being in your eyes safe to use on the road, you can bet your bottom dollar if it miraculously made it to FOD, that single journey would result in you having another list of jobs to fix upon getting back again. SLIGHT play? Dez, that wheel was on the verge of falling off man 😂
  3. Had my windows tinted today, was dark when he finished so didn’t get a chance to get a pic but it looks great. 5% rears and 35% fronts
  4. Many thanks, it’s the feature I use most to be honest, otherwise I’d never keep track of Invacar posts everywhere!
  5. Came to post the same thing - the unread content thing isn’t working. Mines showing posts from 3 hours ago but nothing more recent.
  6. @LightBulbFunone thing I’ve never heard you talk about is a Sinclair C5. Surely the ideal city runabout for you? I happen to know the guy who runs the owners club and C5 depot if you want to get one as a practical daily driver….
  7. So getting back on track @LightBulbFun are you planning on just waiting it out and hoping you get your Invacar back one day? Do you not think that getting it home and then actually booking it in to a garage to have the remainder done would be the wisest way forward? If it’s a proper booking with a restorer, they’ll be on a set timescale to earn their money. Before you say you can’t find anyone, there WILL be a garage willing to do it, and it being outside your house in the interim should at least spur you on.
  8. Dez doesn’t have any car NCB, he’s mentioned a few times he’s insured it as a trike so any NCB he has is motorcycle NCB. This of course means cheaper insurance for the Invacare but knock on effect isn’t great for moving on to a car
  9. 100% agree, but that being said - how many of us would literally years later, with what Dez is telling us no updates, ignored messages etc just let this carry on? Im not trying to shit stir as I still commend Red5 massively for taking on the project to help Dez out, but as much as LBF annoys me with references to these blue chariots in every thread he can possibly manage to, I still see a young lad who hasn’t seen his own car in years and apparently has no idea what’s going on with it. As well as all of this, I’m pretty sure Red5 would love to see the back of it by now 😂 The main reason I asked Dez was because he’s constantly talking about wanting a second car but makes his excuses each time which then fall back to how much he just wants the blue peril of resolution to the worlds problems back outside his house, yet as far as he’s always said, hasn’t actually put anything in place to get it home. When we’re talking the length of time this has been and according to Dez the ignoring of messages etc, I personally come to the conclusion it probably isn’t working out and it’s likely best to get it home and book it in somewhere else for the remainder…
  10. Please feel free to tell me to mind my own business but why haven’t you DM’d red5 and advised him that you are booking transport to have the Invacar collected and could he let you know a date that would work his end and to let you know what you owe for whatever has been done thus far? Surely it’s time to stop treading on eggshells, unless there’s more to this than you’re letting on, someone has your car, is ignoring your messages but is logging on to the forum regularly. I don’t for a second think anything dodgy is going on, but all you’ve said so far is that you’re messaging for updates but being ignored for months at a time, as far as you’re aware there’s no progress, at what point are you going to stop this cycle?! Genuinely, I think 99.9 % of members on here would have stopped this months ago, it feels weird now.
  11. In theory, yes. It’s 14 mins from me. However, truthfully I’d only be willing to do it when you’re at the point of everything being in place and you are committing to buying subject to me glancing at it for you. I’m currently signed off work with anxiety and don’t need the hassle of it just for the sake of it as you of course have had the opportunity countless times to buy something and it’s yet to materialise. Extremely unlikely, £870 sounds fantastic as a first car with no NCB. I’m really surprised it’s that cheap to be honest. Up to you if you call and ask but I can’t see it happening. Flux/Sterling work on the comparison sites so see where they are on the list, it’ll give you a good idea as the price over the phone will be similar. Although I’d be eternally grateful for everything you’ve had done, il put myself out on a limb here and say if you genuinely have heard as little as you say you have, I’d be at the point now where I’d be concerned, it’s been a hell of a long time in total, I personally think it’s time to call it a day and organise collection of REV regardless of what state it’s in. That aside, whenever you eventually get it back, I still put money on the fact you absolutely will not be ‘running about’ in the Invacar and will still need something like the Kangoo. I do however understand clearly now that until you see first hand, you’ll never listen to any of us so the sooner that happens, the sooner you’ll buy something like the one I’ve linked!
  12. You’re right, I just find it hard to justify what the best part of 17k over the two cars sat on the drive. I prefer to see numbers in the bank with my anxious side.. I think I’ll just see how things go! Anyways, here’s some filthy photos..
  13. It’s on retention, car could still well be going.
  14. Update.. haven’t driven the T5 since buying the BM, really tempted to list it for sale but I know when the better weather comes I’ll want it. Might just SORN it for a couple of months. BM is just fantastic, went to Cambridge today and trying to get from one side to the other in start stop traffic was a dream with the auto box. Really glad I went for it, even Mrs JJ is liking it and used it yesterday.
  15. Me in a £120 Citroen AX in 2009 and then an old Passat and a couple of land rovers on the same road in someone’s garden:
  16. Sorry to hear about your friend, would he have been a forum type? I just feel I saw this or something very similar years ago on the 106 owners club forum?
  17. How long have you had this? I feel like I remember seeing this maybe 12/13 years ago back in the 106oc days?!
  18. 📸 Look at this post on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/share/7aBNg1Bj1FsnTzV5/?mibextid=79PoIi another if anyones feeling daring Must be fairly local to you again @BeEP?
  19. https://www.facebook.com/share/JdJeaVAFejKeUsMk/?mibextid=79PoIi @LightBulbFun ideal don’t know why I’m still trying to help but here we go 🤦‍♂️😂
  20. It’s the intention, I’ve set myself a minimum of 18 months It’s mad to think this is only a year newer than the Volvo but honestly driving it home today I obviously had the new found confidence to put my foot down now I know the chain isn’t going to let go, it feels really nippy, it’s comfy, with a private plate it could pass as a 5 year old car, it’s also just a car I’ve always had on my want list but they’ve always been out of budget. I am happy that the investment I’ve put into this isn’t lost though, like I say I’d be very confident that if I really wanted to I could stick it up for £7k and it’d be gone in a week bearing in mind the work I can evidence for it, but the honest intention is to actually use it - Mrs JJ likes it too and I can see her taking it over the Fiesta at times too. With that in mind - what’s the future of the T5 now? That’s yet to be decided.. I’m not good at keeping 2 cars, I get annoyed that one just sits unused and with potentially 9/10 grand on a good day tied up in the T5, I don’t know what il do with it. Mrs JJ wants to keep it, my bank account doesn’t particularly. We’re going to Scotland in March/April time for Mrs JJ’s 30th and the plan is to find a dog friendly airbnb and go up in the BM. If that’s a success, I may shift the T5 in May/June when they’re in demand and just move on to holidaying that way. We’ll see!
