  1. Fitted some black grills today but now they’re on I think I prefer the chrome so might revert back. Going to give it a week or so and see how I feel.
  2. Had it a week and absolutely love it, I think I’m going to change the main and EGR thermostats once I’ve sold the scirocco as it seems to be running cool and it’s a really common problem. This should improve MPG too! Also got the scirocco back so it’s now got a full MOT, new cambelt, water pump, aux belt and cam sensor. Noticed today it’s got 315/35/20s on it.. dread to think of the cost when these need replacing 😂
  3. Somehow I’ve never written a car off. About 5 months after passing my test I was driving my first car - a Citroen Ax - along a long straight main road that had a load of slushy snow in the middle after recent bad weather, stupidly I was eating a McDonalds double cheeseburger and holding the steering wheel with my knee. Must have drifted slightly, caught the slush, spun 360 degrees and ended up in the path of a 40ft HGV. Luckily managed to whack it in first and get back in my lane but I’ve never done anything as stupid since… most of us have had some sort of incident but young guns in 200+bhp cars with no experience certainly exacerbates the problem…
  4. I would definitely think so, I’ve not put the seats down but without the 6th/7th seats up even the boot is massive
  5. Comfiest car I’ve ever driven, seats like armchairs… but only do it if you can cope with the MPG.. averaging 25.4 without anything on the tow bar! Im going to investigate economy remaps..
  6. I’ve just had a quick look on Parker’s at the spec, it says braked towing capacity 3500kg 👍
  7. The Transit was much better on fuel tbh id still sooner drive the X5 mind…
  8. Done over 100 miles today and this thing is just beautiful to drive. Absolute luxo barge. The MPG however is just fucking horrific. I haven’t quite got my head round £60 getting me 200 miles max yet. The Scirocco would do 600 for the same amount 😂 Thank god we have the Mk7 diesel fiesta as well. Still doesn’t put me off though. I knew this would be awful, just still takes some getting used to.
  9. We are absolutely never having kids. I’m way too selfish. Caravan I don’t think so as we’ll end up with the same storage issue as when we had the camper!
  10. Oh and I nipped out on my lunch break to get the wheelie bin in and managed to see it in daylight for the first time 😂 Still very happy with the purchase
  11. Oh I completely get it’s far from everyone’s cup of tea for me it’s just I’m a proper M57 fanboy and just always end up back in a BMW eventually. This just feels like a good idea as Mrs JJ says im too old in my thirties to drive ‘sporty’ BMWs 😂 so it was this or a 3/5 series touring, just fancied something a bit different, only 4x4 I’ve ever had has been a Discovery 2 so this is a novelty too…
  12. Ok so after flogging the Transit I decided to just go and scratch an itch.. 2010 X5 3.0 D XDrive M Sport Lowest mileage car I’ve ever had with 96k on the clock! Loads of history including the expensive jobs done by BMW themselves (rear airbags, handbrake module etc) It’s a nice spec, 20” wheels, heated front and rear seats etc. It’s the 7 seat model and is in the lower £360 tax band rather than the £600 odd one. Lucky as well being a 2010 as it’s the last of the Pre-LCI so has the better M57 engine but still newer. Bought it by streetlight ant my phone torch at 7:30PM so even now due to work I’ve not seen it in daylight but the previous owner had it 4 years and is a proper enthusiast, Porsche Cayman on the drive as well as a brand new 330E. Had it MOT’d, serviced and even new mats to sell it. One of the cleanest interiors I’ve seen on a used car. He’s even given me his hardwired Nextbase front and rear dashcams. Averaged 23mpg on the back roads home so hopefully that will improve.. max I imagine of 26-27MPG but thankfully I work from home now! The scirocco is currently in for its MOT along with cambelt/pump then I can take my plate off and advertise it. Pics from the advert:
  13. Organised to go and view this tomorrow, loads of history, only 96k on the clock, decent spec even heated rear seats. 8 grand
  14. It’s in north Walsham, go and see!
  15. I’m saying fuck it, if I can pick up an e70 for 5k and keep the rest in the bank for now, I’ll hire a camper for our wales trip in April then if we miss van life that much I’ve still got 6-7k in the bank to buy a van with later down the line. I instantly feel more comfortable with that idea
  16. Mrs JJ has just said get an E70 and a roof tent 😂 what a bird.
  17. After sleeping on it I just don’t know what to do, might hold off for now. If I’m going for a T5, the one I’ve mentioned seems a sensible option.. what is still niggling away in my mind is whether realistically I can live with a van as my only car I like something I can go for a ‘drive’ in, something with a little bit of poke and that is a nice place to sit. I understand I’m sacrificing that by daily driving a camper because we enjoy that side of life when we can get away. My gut feeling is saying for how many times we used the Transit (yes a fair bit but we’re talking maybe one night a week for perhaps 3-4 months of the year) that I’d miss a car more than a camper. Truth be told what my head wants is to get back in an M57.. probably an e70 X5 for say £5-6k then buy a basic t4/t5 size camper £4k that I can still squeeze on the drive. I laid awake for ages last night pondering and I just don’t feel 100% on the idea now it’s coming toward reality. Wait til tomorrow I’ll have bought a t5 now 😂
  18. It’s a worry for sure, but the only experience I have of is reading online. I know people who have had no problems and read people having loads of problems. Its a difficult one, the issue is I know I want a T5 but it seems as though it’s a choice between 250k+ 1.9s or something like this which feels almost rare having lowish miles and having had the same owner for so long. My ideal world would be finding a sub 200k mile 1.9 but that’s looking like it’s going to be a challenge. Im in no rush but this example seems a decent one for a 2.5.
  19. I don’t know how to explain it but a sprinter still feels like a van, a T5 feels more like a car.. I don’t know how to explain it 😂 I feel like I’d want a car as well if I had a sprinter, whereas a T5 is car like enough that I feel like it’d dual purpose…
