Put a wire from the solenoid switching terminal and touch it against the battery positive - if the starter works reliably when you do this, it's probably voltage drop on the solenoid wiring (fairly common 205 issue) and if it still doesn't, it'll either be the starter itself or poor battery/ground connections.

It's perhaps a minor grump compared to the current issues gripping the world, but it appears that PSA have quietly made Servicebox (their online technical and parts catalogue system) a fully paid-for service this week, so you can't even access the diagrams or part numbers any more - both of which were a huge boon to a serial Peugeot botherer like myself

I bolted the starter motor and then tried to fit the plate that holds the vacuum solenoids, I initially thought this went under the one of the slave cylinder bolts and one of the starter motor bolts. After much faffing around I managed to get my phone up and took this picture showing it actually goes under two of the starter motor bolts. The pic shows how I thought it was supposed to go. I then loosened the starter motor bolts before slipping in.

Then it was the joy of hooking up eight vacuum hoses and the four electrical connectors to all the solenoids as well as the vacuum reservoir.

Right, been to see this and gave it a test drive. 
It's rusty in all the usual 205 places, and there are many repairs to the outer sills and also the near side front inner wing and under the passenger footwell where the sub frame mounts. It's been done reasonably tidily but it's overplating so would need doing properly. 
The interior is damp as hell, the driver footwell is soaking wet and the headliner is sodden right at the back - suspect sunroof drain issues. 
The interior is in surprisingly good nick and all seems to work, there are a couple of dodgy looking giffer security switches though. 
The engine seemingly had no oil in it according to the dipstick, a check underneath showed it was mostly all under the engine! It's had a new radiator, coil and alternator recently. But the rest of it was pretty rank - the coolant bottle was disgusting and there was some mayo floating in the top of it. However, it's starts from cold happily and there are no nasty noises. I took it for a drive and it goes like hell - really quite surprised. The suspension is knackered though so the handling is quite wayward! 
But. It's got 500,000 miles on it. What do you expect?! It's a hell of a lot of work to get it back to good, but worth it to someone. 
Will I buy it? No, it's too gone for me. Should it be bought and saved? Yes. 
How much is it worth? 
£500 I rekkon.

These two are on the road, an average of 205k miles
205 GTi #2 = 158k
205 GTi #3 = 53k
I've also got a couple of other 205's currently in storage / being recommissioned, which brings the average down to 155k miles

I was going to whip the driveshaft off the GTV this evening, have been looking forward to getting cracking on it all day.  Managed to jack it up and remove a wheel before it started pissing down... still, at least I've got a tatty old car sat on axle stands outside my house again.  I'm sure my neighbours have been missing that.
 

Finally took my dream car out just before the snow settles in. 
It’s been quite a few years of horse trading, parts swapping, overtime, wrenching and saving, but finally, thanks to a lucky break, I have a running 911. 
I was grinning so widely, I’m surprised the cops didn’t stop me as being insane or the Joker!

The 914 race car got swapped in against this and my project 911 sold to make up some of the funds. 
Still needs quite some love, but it’s driving and (mostly) road worthy! I’m just so damn freaking lucky and now have winter to get her all fixed up. ?

Couple of Landy's spotted earlier this month slowly returning to nature in Hayes.

Low mileage Defender that's been there at least a year judging from the MOT expiry - up until that point it had a spotless MOT history too.

This old Series LR was parked on the road in front of it that I'm guessing hasn't moved for quite some time either.

I have had a productive day, which makes a bloody change! First of all,  woke up, which was a good start as it meant I was still alive and I had been asleep, both good things I think you will agree. Then I went out and Waxoyled all the wheelarches of the MB and while in a fit of uber sad-bastard-ness, I cleaned, with Solvol Autosol no less, the exhausts!

Then, without any option on my part at all, I took BOTH dogs to the park (it was Phoebes day to stay home and rest but she was determined she was coming and lay across the front doorstep with her ball between her legs) where I  was annoyed by 3 small children who insisted on being noisy and messy, annoyed to the extent that I moved the car and the dogs to a previously unused part of Ilsham Valley (unused by me at least). I am now old and grumpy and I have never been that fond of children and now positively detest the little bastards!
Then I took the car, complete with shiny exhausts and two now grumpy dogs who would have preferred to go home and have dinner, to a new and untried Paintless Dent guy. He was jolly expensive! But, he was also very good so sort of okay by me. Because the dent  was right on the crease line of the door it took a fair bit of effort and he did it while I waited and he was really careful and it took him about an hour without any break to get it to HIS satisfaction - I would have called it quits about 20 minutes earlier but glad he was more exacting than me! £90 for the whole door which is a bloody sight more than I usually pay but...
And when I got home, the new tailored mats that I only ordered on Sunday had been delivered! By Hermes no less! And they are really rather good and even fit onto the original floor mounted locating plugs that MB see fit to supply their cars with (But no bloody mats!) and all for £12 from a guy on eBay. I expected shite and got... well, not shite, not even shit, in fact rather good.  And bloody cheap!
Having fitted them,  then (whle dogs slept gently with now fat bellies) polished the whole car. Only with the fancy, super fast and super easy spray on Meguirs stuff rather than any of Autoglyms harder work products but the car looks great and the whole process took about 15 minutes even for a cripple.
So as I said, productive.
I know it's a sad thing but I really like this car!  It sounds great: all throbby and warbly and it gets very vocal when the right pedal is depressed with vigour - or vim even!   and for a short arsed Hairdressers motor, it gets a proper wriggle on. I can only imagine what a 55 version is like as this 350 goes like fook (5.2 seconds to 60 and a limited 155 mph top speed - hark at me being all 'Top Gear' and that!) and it makes me smile more than any car has in a long time. It is a right little hooligan and I can see it being great fun once I am fully acquinted with it and take it on some interesting roads.

More a case of not clicking the article - I just searched Google for "Citroen C2 dimensions" and Google listed the figures I gave above from Wikipedia, but having now actually clicked the link,  it turns out that it's from further down the page for the Chinese made Citroen C2 (which is different to the one that we all know)! ?

Drive is full, garage is full, secret storage at work is full so why are there so many cars for sale on here that I really want and some I could even vaguely justify buying (well as much as you ever can - Lancia for £300 ffs). Buggery  bollocks.

After 6 months anxiety,  waiting for the axe to fall at my work, I have finally secured a new job. Not only that but it's a role that I really want. Can't wait to get started.

So much for leaving well alone. We got the heads off to change the seals both sides, and found water damage in the bores. So, we pulled the 652 barrels and pistons from the broken engine and swapped the lot, including cylinder heads, onto the new crankcase. The crankshaft in the newer motor feels much better - lots of jiggly conrod action on the old one. All back together, test drives concluded. A touch of pinking, so I need to reset the ignition timing then, hopefully, I'm done. Had helpful assistance today!

Tomorrow, the journey begins, with a 200-mile drive to Cambridgeshire to break up the drive to Harwich. Ferry departs 11pm Friday.

Remove one (not both!) droplink and go for a drive, if the noise disappears then it is likely a droplink that's failed.  Cheap droplinks often don't last very long.
Be careful with any "enthusiastic" cornering with the droplink removed (and ARB effectively disabled) though as you will get some comedy lean angles....

Forgot to say, the best bit is the damned Discovery is now 516 miles away!
