Ken had his personal reg on the Rover but hoped to transfer it to his new Espace. I agreed to post him back the plates. Fortunately, the original plates from SMC Rover of Uxbridge were in the boot, so I gave them a clean and fitted them after buying a fitting kit. Curiously, the front one was originally screwed on while the rear was stuck on. I replicated this and soon had them swapped.
Also I removed the stickers - I’m not really a fan of stickers on cars (unless from supplying dealers) the AS one was damaged anyway. Used a bit of T-cut to remove the residue and polished the back end:

First thing to do was give it a bath. Ken had gone over the interior and that was very nice, but the exterior was a bit green around the edges. I opened the boot and cleaned around the edge, around the fuel filler cap and also opened the posh electric sunroof and did around there. It came out very nicely - with the exception of a few giffer parking scrapes and touch ups the paintwork is in great condition. It’s by far the smartest “modern” I’ve owned!

Yesterday I gave the Cavalier an oil change and wash.  It'll be my weapon of choice for taking the other half to work this week (she's a key worker and I'm most definitely not).  This photo is the good side.  The other is a bit battered and full of wob.

I also awoke the Metro from its five month slumber.  I was grinning all the way home until I could smell pez, then pulled over sharpish behind the others as the fire extinguisher was in the back of the 406.

A clip on the fuel pump needed nipping up, but it's still not A1, and the fuel hose should really be replaced so I'll do that tomorrow as I've got some spare.  It was spaffing out all over the exhaust manifold...been there before in something else and that didn't catch fire either, but still.  Anal sphincter got a work out.

I organised a little car run today to Bawdsey with my car club, I wasn't expecting much of turn out due to the black death and cold weather but we still had about 10-12 cars, this Fiat Croma CHT was a particular highlight though.

It was mint, only 35000 miles on the clock too, other highlights were

    Not one

    But two Monzas!

    G60

    BX Diesel

A genuine Broadspeed but the 3.1 is currently awaiting a rebuilt so it's just a 3.0...

    Then the police turned up

And this was the longest drive mines done yet, sadly the speedo packed up which I think is the sensor on the box so I need to find a replacement and I'm not convinced the gears are changing up correctly so I can see a box filter and oil change on the cards too, does it ever end...

You’d have to have a chauffeur, though. Ideally some washed up, pissed up chain smoking has-been who could regale you with stories of Cilla Black accidentally flashing her hirsute ginger sausage hider as she fell out of the car at 3.30am.

If it does go ahead with online bidding, I might have a go at this,
Get cheap enough and it would keep me busy for a period of lockdown, detailing it to within an inch of its life, then if we all survive , go to a couple of shows and double my money . WCPGW?
