It’s so desirable in cabriolet form that owners are trying to convert them on the cheap.

I managed to get my car insurance renewal down from £480 to £370 on the phone. Knocked off a named driver who doesn't use the car any more took about £60 off, and then she listened to my buttery charm and knocked another £50 off.

Oh, and Japan was ace! Flew the missus out for a week to meet me and we had an amazing time, I finally got to take an R34 Skyline round the mountain roads and it was amazing. Hit 3k RPM and the world just goes backwards, and it sticks to the road like shit on a blanket.

I asked the missus to marry me, she said yes.

But the Skyline just ticked every box for me, what a motor!

Funnily enough, I had no idea there was one in the auction and had no intention of attending but a friend messaged me on Friday saying there was a 305 in as a late entry, there weren't any photos up and it hadn't been added to the auction catalogue so none of the punters on the day knew about it really.
I went up for a look on Friday, it looked a bit scabby but drove perfectly and the interior was decent so I left a bid of £400 with the auctioneer.

We got there about halfway through the auction and had a tense hour or so waiting for the 305 to be called so passed the time by wandering around.

I didn't have to go back on Saturday for the auction but did anyway. It was pretty tense waiting on the 305, there were quite a few cars that I wouldn't have thought would be popular where there were a lot of bids, two mk1 MX5's went for something like £5k each, an E46 316 auto for over £2k
    This 500SEC for £2200

I was starting to worry there was going to be a bidding frenzy on the 305...

    This 2cv was hanging...

    RJC_1235 by srblythe, on Flickr

    It sold for £300

The 305 was one of the last entries to be auctioned so the majority of people had left already, the auctioneer started the bidding at £200, someone in the hall bid £250 and then it fell back to my bid at £300, it felt like an eternity waiting for the hammer to drop but then it did and the 305 was mine...

Bloody jigsaw died spectacularly today, the entire plastic body disintegrated in grand form mid jig causing much vibration and exposure of internal bits. I have only had the damn thing 22 years, does no one make anything to last these days?

    Mot expired in October.
Bodywork isn't great but it drives well and interior is great.

With the sounder disconnected we reatached the jump pack to see if it would start.

I crossed my fingers and turned the jump pack on.

The alarm started going off again.

This time via the traditional horns.

    For Fucking fucks sake.

We found the horns near the back of the bumper and unplugged them.

ILL BE VERY SURPRISED IF THE ALARM GOES OFF THIS TIME shouted Overrun as we were both mostly deaf by this point.

I connected the jump pack again AND THE FUCKING ALARM WENT OFF AGAIN!!!! THERES A THIRD HORN HIDDEN UP UNDER THE SCUTTLE WHOS ONLY PURPOSE CAN BE TO SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF PEOPLE WHO A PRETTY SURE THE ALARM WONT GO OFF THIS TIME.

Honda has sold. Told the buyer I'd put a fresh MOT on it. It failed on rear brake imbalance. Also turned out I'd dropped a copper washer refitting the nearside front caliper. Idiot. Fixed during the test.

Should all be sorted this afternoon.

The best way to clean oil off a wet roundabout is with diesel, then the abrasive use of expensive leather motorbike trousers.

When on a roundabout, do not suddenly stop in the middle of the roundabout to let some random car out and expect me not to blast my horn and overtake you because I nearly smashed into the back of you

Bloody mothers. She's had a hedgehog in the garden since October. Fuck knows how it got in as one side is a 7ft brick wall, the other side a 2ft one. Either way, she's fed it, covered it in plant insulation and generally treated it better than she does my stepdad over winter.

Their going away for 2 weeks tomorrow, and old hedge is still asleep. So she asks me to take it to our local animal hospital place. So after work, I go round, get given a box and some fluffy towels, dig it and the earth under it up and plonk it in. Drove it home then Amy took it to the place as she knows where it is.

Turns out I've driven a dead bloody hedgehog 30 miles across the county... Been dead 2 weeks, thought it smelt a bit musty. Knew I should have just lobbed it in the black bin.

Depends if there are lane markings. If there aren't, then right hand lane is fine to use. Roundabout markings are horribly inconsistent though, which certainly makes me grumpy.

Take the roundabout in town for instance. It is marked left for the coast, right-ish for town and there are two lanes. But, Morrisons isn't indicated on either lane, and is sort-of straight ahead ish. There are regular horn tootings as a result. FFS. How do you design a roundabout and not indicate which lane is to be used for one of the most commonly used exits?

My urine also frequently approaches boiling point with roundabout lanes that don't alter as you go around them. Well designed ones keep you in your lane, and guide you towards your exit, but too many have lanes that either make absolutely no sense and so you have to jump across lanes, or have markings that are so tight that only a Smart with four-wheel steering could hope to follow them.

My son messaged me the other day and said he was flying down to Newquay to collect his new car.
I asked what was it and he said "it's a Cresta".

Alas it's a bloody Toyota Cresta..
