The guy told me he'd call back if he couldn't get the gearbox fault to clear and we could swap back over.
I was diplomatic, I told him "yeah I'm a decent fellow, I'd honour that".
    Then blocked his number.

I was still trying to puzzle the gearbox as every listing of seicento Sportings has them as five speed and lo and behold this morning completely by accident I managed to slip it into fifth!!
I have had some non-communicative gearboxes in my time but by some margin, this is the worst. So bad that for the next three times I tried to get it back in to fifth I couldn’t find it again
The mini trip I was on where I found fifth was to sue it as a van.
200kg of building sand, no problem. Not quite the 800kg I stuffed in the V70 but it got a bit more garden wall built today.

Brooklands seems to be one of those colours where it has many shades and none are exact...

They seem to vary from more blueish greens to more brown tinged variants. The original is also very prone to fading so who know what colour Brooklands becomes after 40 years... My car has had at least three resprays and going by the door jams no two were the same shade! My only goal is to shift the green towards the bluer end of the scale rather than the brown... I'm also partially red/green colour blind so my opinion is largely moot, I've been asking Mr Nutzz and Girlfriend_70s for advice. ?

Not many trucks around this morning but taking this photo set off an interesting chain of events,

A couple of minutes later it came back the other way, having been all the way around the next roundabout. It's a local firm so surely he wasn't lost, thought I. Then he stopped, beckoned me over and said he was going to park up at the lorry park round the corner and I should go and talk to him. Thinking I might have upset him by taking his photo and was about to get an ear-bashing, I made my way nervously round the corner. I couldn't be more wrong: turns out he is a fellow truck enthusiast who I had been following on Flickr for years but never met, so we had a good chat and showed each other photos of some of the nice things we'd seen. Basically he'd diverted off his route, parked up and taken time out of his day just to talk to me. What a top bloke!
And yes, that is a Porsche 911 on the back, a 1974 model he picked up from France yesterday.

I was away camping last night with the dog. On a quiet field out near Buxton, next to a little quiet country lane.
After a nice lay in this morning I had a few cups of tea and a bacon sandwich (shared with dog obvs!) and a quick walk round the field before we set off back to work. I heard a "fruity" noise in the distance. A bloody 1987 ERF E14 comes plodding past, fully loaded with aggregate from a quarry, down the hill with the exhaust brakes on and off. What a sound! and to see one of them still working for a living properly warms my cockles and has put me in a good mood all day.

By the way, when I initially enquired about placing an order, the waiting list was three months, it’s now up to nearer five - I am a grade A spawny get who managed to take on someone else’s build that they wanted to cancel
If he’d just cancelled, he would lose his deposit and the kit would go back into stock for whoever is next in the queue but I ‘bought’ his deposit off him and managed to change the spec before it was finished - and saved a few quid into the deal !

One more pic from today - this has to be the most picturesque industrial estate in the land - seriously, this is the view from Exocet HQ !

And it’s home ! Rather a long day but so worth it

neighbour has already been round for a look !

this thing is already taking over the house

The spare room will come in very handy for storing the “body” panels until it’s mechanically ready, the poor mazda is now permanently evicted to the driveway.
    But work can finally begin

    Cheers all !

Speaking of fast GM products, this beautiful Senator B with the right engine and a manual transmission just popped up on Ebay. Getting a Senator of this spec in such amazing condition, and then with a manual too, is a very rare occasion.

GM went as far as issuing the v8 Omega with an Opel/Vauxhall style engine code. It was something like xx57XE. I've only ever seen it on an Hunter alignment rig database. The data was the same for the v6.

Currently on route from Le France to go have a look at a Gold coloured, Tan interior motor.

Left a deposit two weeks ago and the seller was ace and wasn’t bothered about me swanning about for two weeks.

Was made in the same year as me (1984) so seems like a match made in heaven.
