Old man has been maintaining this 2A for 10+ years, now the fella who owned it is selling up and moving so decided to sell to Terry for a relatively token sum. It looks great, smells great, sounds great (in a farty Morris Minor sort of way) and predictably drives like a pig. But look at it!!!!! Mega patina.

I would drive it to clearways while it's still insured, assuming you don't foresee a repeat spillage.
I may have been involved in driving a car with no exhaust (cut the cat off for £25) to clearways..... Remove battery and push onto weighbridge, give cat and battery to the man on the desk.
Oh and on the subject of croissants, I had one from the Lidl bakery earlier and can state without exception it's the best

I have said my goodbyes to the Rover 216i Convertible, I liked it more than I thought, but then I liked the 220 SLi I had before so it should be no surprise.
My Vitesse has now come out of storage and the two got to meet

As I understand it all the information on the V5 will be from what the selling dealer stated on the forms they filled in when the car was first registered/sold. Some discrepancies will be obvious and sorted out straight away, others are either too subtle or not important enough to get corrected. I've had an Austin 1100 with one digit of the chassis number transposed from a 3 to an 8 which remained that way until the advent of computerised MOTs. An Allegro belonging to another member of this forum has been registered as red from new, the problem being it's applejack green and always has been.

I think they get penalised if they don't come before their stated arrival time. So they set them further ahead to make sure it almost certainly does get there before then.

My suggested solution to your car issues is that you really need to buy Japanese.

I've forgotten which engine you have, but is this the 1.9 CTDi with the manual 6 speed box? If so, then its the ball joint that wears out. I believe repair kits are available nowadays.
The Sharon should be relatively* easy to retrofit if you wanted it.
The Saab 9-3 designer regretted not putting the clamshell bonnet on the 9-3 from the start.
Pretty much everyone who has owned a Saab and gelled with it is sad that Saab has gone.

You are correct. If you haven't got the full +E category, your tow car and trailer combined weights are calculated by adding the gross (maximum allowed mass) for the car and the gross (maximum allowed mass) for the trailer. Very difficult (if not impossible) to stay under the 3.5 ton limit...
I've an octavia which has a kerb weight of 1380kg. It has a maximum allowed mass or gross vehicle weigh of 1900kg. The car itself has a train weight of 1400kg (the maximum it's allowed to tow - braked trailer). 1900 + 1400 = 3300 kg.
I can legally tow a C1 on a single axle Brian James lightweight car transporter.

SiC got a reaction from Talbot in Stanky's Geep - fire sale
Aren't towing weights based on the GVW of the whole lot? I.e. if you have a car that has a max weight of 1500kg and a trailer that is capable of towing 2500kg (even if empty), the GVW will be 4000kg. Over the 3500kg limit of our licences.
I'd love to be proven wrong but that's what I'm aware of the legislation when I've read all the supporting info a couple of times.

Astonishingly, we didn't get as far as the multimeter. As you can see in this image, normality, such as it is, has been restored.
20180409-01 by Angyl Roper, on Flickr
I started off by running through some ideas before getting the multimeter out and disconnecting a few other items. The door switches were grubby, but fine. The wiring for the interior light runs near the sunvisor fixings so I removed the relevant fixings just in case it was a hidden wire grounding on a trim screw. Then moved into the boot, disconnected the wiring from the boot switch again and realised that we'd had to put an extension in from the original loom wire (I can't remember why) and it made me wonder a thing.
20180409-03 by Angyl Roper, on Flickr
I haven't got the correct bracket to operate this switch, BL used at least two different switches, brackets and boot rams during production and while I've got an earlier switch and boot rams, I've never had the correct bracket to work between the two.
20180409-02 by Angyl Roper, on Flickr
What was strange was that with the wiring disconnected from the switch it never sparked at the fuse. With it connected, it sometimes sparked at the fuse. Conclusion, therefore, is that the switch is no good. Now, I should probably have got the multimeter to action to double-check this but honestly, everything is working precisely as it should now so there seemed no point at all. All the fuse-5 systems (as usefully highlighted in the diagram above by PhilA) now do what they should, when they should. Even the hazard switch seems more reliable when before it could be a little hit and miss. I've fixed this more by luck than anything, really. Quite what's wrong with the old switch I don't know, I suspect it's just age and possibly corrosion, rather like the old cigarette lighter which was similarly affected that we had to replace when chasing out the last gremlins. I'm confident enough to put things back together when I've next got some time to do so.
More frivolously, the boot badges were refitted. Not a vital thing by any means but I wanted to see if I liked it more with them on or not for a bit.

A job for another day is figuring out how to adjust the sag out of the front doors. It's probably hinge pins but on trying to find play in the hinges today I couldn't, so I'm not 100% sure on that. The passenger side has been getting steadily worse over the years too. there's not much adjustment on the doors to take out this sort of sag without replacing the pins, so far as I can work out.

The driver's door has been bad all the time I've had it, the passenger one only really started getting bad this year.
