Have you just opened the next can of worms?
-
Give me a link to where that is sold please. I now want to complete my research by making a model Timelord.
-
I know Phil (owner of WGU 18E) wants the original plate for his replica, which would be fitting.
-
WHERE did you find that?? If that info is correct that seals it - the discrepancy over the date of those pics was the only uncertainty left. If that page has got it correct then those pics were indeed taken three months before the car was bangered.
-
Yes, you have to be registered and logged in to see it. I posted that thread when I was requesting info from the Banger boys.
-
Ah I didn't know Stuart was on Ovalchat too - yes I do know they turned up on there, cos it was me who posted the thread on there!
-
Well it would appear so, that or the owner reads the same Facebook groups as me - https://hunttimelord.wordpress.com/
-
Paul B said he got hold of it through a contact in the film industry, that's all he told me. Will see if I can get him to sign up here.
-
The only question now is - does the owner of the HuntTimelord site know about this thread?
-
Oh no you don't, you are not turning yet another thread around to talk about the same topic I will speak to Phil and see if he has any more stories - he is the chap mentioned at the beginning of this thread who has the Ro80 and other rotary-engined cars.

Can't let this thread slip too far down the forum! I recently managed to have a brief phone conversation with Paul Bickers himself, and he confirmed that it was indeed the original Timelord that he banger raced. Interestingly though, the theory I'd come up with that he obtained the car after filming the video for 3AM Eternal was incorrect - Paul tells me he was not involved with that and only obtained the car through one of his contacts in the film industry at a later date. He did say that the car was scrapped after the meeting (unsurprisingly) and that was the end of Timelord. Paul was however also involved in building the smaller Yank that was raced by Jimmy Cauty at Wimbledon - and I think that might be the car that got taken back to his yard in Norfolk, giving rise to the rumour that Timelord had survived. I have sent Paul a link to this thread so hopefully if he has time he can give us some more input. I have also spoken to Phil Blake, the owner of WGU 18E - the replica that the band themselves infamously covered in paint in 2017. I haven't yet asked him about the incident with his car, but he did send me a much clearer pic of Paul and Timelord on track at Swaffham. Someone did comment that only the driver's door had the small "lightning" logos around the Pyramid Blaster logo on the door, and that can clearly be seen here. Also, looking at that rear wheel it seems that Paul took out the knackered original motor and dropped in a Ford Granada engine and transmission/axle - a common practice with Unlimited Bangers, although Yanks often had a Transit axle dropped in which usually buggered up the ride height. Thanks to both Paul and Phil for their huge help. (Edit) Phil has said this about the paint incident: "I took it along to take part in their "Welcome to the Dark Ages" event in Liverpool. The car was shown in the BBC news footage which for some reason pissed them off. They claimed I'd tried to upstage them thus painted white gloss paint over it. I was there to support a band that I'd followed for 30 years, there was no intent to upstage them."

HOW have I not seen this thread before? I'm sorry OP but I am sat here giggling my socks off. Is your FiL actually 18 years old? Does he wear tracksuits and hang out in the local McDonald's car park? I'm seriously worried about his mental state. I remember being disappointed when Barryboys closed down...this is much better than anything I ever saw on there! (On a serious note, hope his health improves.)

My sister once backed her Peugeot 107 into a tree at the end of our drive. Apparently on hearing a scraping noise, she ignored it and carried on reversing, ending up with the rear door almost bent round sideways. It was very difficult not to belt her round the face for being so bloody stupid after that one. (I still maintain she was staring at her phone while backing off the drive but couldn't prove it). Still, I got away lightly as my car was parked on the other side of hers at the time.

Mega became Aixam, and believe it or not, the above was the base for this...

/\ That is the ugliest car I have ever seen. No contest. Anyway, just found out that Australia produced this - the Nissan Pintara, a basic four-cylinder version of the Skyline. Fantastically shite styling.
-
Park up on a kerb for five minutes to deliver a christmas card, return to my car to find that some dickhead who can't drive has smashed the driver's side mirror off it and fucked off. Thanks a fucking lot!
-
Pull them over, smash their phone to bits in front of them, then slap their face a few times before allowing them to continue driving - with the ticket for the court date in the post.
-
Back on topic - just made a phone call that might have jogged someone's memory and enabled him to join in with our quest for info.

No one, because music acts are manufactured by Simon Cowell or Instagram these days.

The thread mentioned will almost certainly have been started by me

It's 2am and I can't sleep due to a chest infection, so I thought I'd have a closer look at the pics. It can clearly be seen that the rot at the bottom of the door matches, meaning that this must surely be the same car. As for the question of the pillars - it's entirely possible given the parlous state of the car when it came to the end of its life with the KLF, the roof and pillars may have needed some welding or other remedial work just to get it into a banger-able state, which might explain why Paul and his team painted them up once the work was complete. The rear wheelarch repair appears to have been painted over or replaced too (although the bloke in the 1990s goalkeeper shirt is rather annoyingly blocking our view of it and the C pillar). The lip at the top of the windscreen appears to have been bent up in order to remove the glass as well. In this pic we can see that the boot (trunk) section doesn't even line up with the rest of the car, suggesting that it was already falling apart even before its first race. That C pillar doesn't look very intact either. And as the car lines up for the second race, it looks as though the lower part of the boot section has gone altogether and only the bootlid is left hanging on, showing just how rotten it was. The text I got with the photos when they were sent to me via social media said "The car did 2 races on the day, both heats, but failed to come out for the final. It ended it's day in a ball of smoke on the pit bend." So on this evidence, unless the car did have Christine-esque magical powers, there is no way it could have been returned to the state it was in when photographed on Jimmy's driveway - and unless Paul Bickers was requested to keep the car after the meeting, I would imagine it was pressed afterwards as it may not even have survived being dragged onto a trailer after this.
-
Sorry, but that car at Swaffham is DEFINITELY the same one seen on that driveway, it can't be a different one. We need a reply from Paul Bickers really but he still hasn't responded to my message.
-
Update - have got more pics from the Swaffham meeting. Taken from screenshots of the meeting VHS, many thanks to Shawn Mason for these.

Can't stand the noise 350s make as they pull away. Have we lost our OP somewhere?

This is why I never sell things online. I'd rather just sling it in the car and take it to the tip than deal with the dickheads of this country.
