First wash and vacuum in my ownership. Apart from the front bumper this is my nicest condition car by a mile.

The keyless entry and start has stopped working for some reason. I wondered if it was the fob battery getting low, but not enough that it throws a message on the dash, and just enough to open the car with the button.  So I bought a new CR3032 battery. If that doesn't work well no big deal, it doesn't affect anything, I just felt aloof and cool AF getting into my car and driving away without the key!
I was worried I wouldn't enjoy the 75 any more but I drove it today and still enjoyed it just as much as I did before.

Either that, or he wants his wife to be the bad guy, the mean old lady who said no. Maybe he is having doubts himself but wants the responsibility to sit with her so he can tell himself he would have gone for it otherwise. A similar level of cowardice and abdication of personal responsibility, really.
They are in the process of buying a small business, he says, but if that's the case, and if that's the reason you can't have the car... say that.

As someone who works in a related industry I can assure you that it's been going on for a long time - the main change as I see it has been that ships (especially container ships) have been rapidly getting ever more massive over the last few years, so when they do hit something the damage tends to be catastrophic.
Here's a similar incident in Korea from a few years back:

To be fair that's about as close to a plate actually saying something as you'll get.

I think it depends whether you’ve got lots of holes, or big holes. Remember - when it comes to weldering - it doesn’t really matter how big the hole is. Whether they’re splicing in 6cm or 6” or 6 acres* doesn’t make too much difference. It’s when there’s a lot of independent stuff to do that things get pricey.
The other thing to bear in mind is storing it outside whilst you save up is only going to make it worse. If you’ve got inside space then fair enough, but if it’s going to be sat on a grass verge I’d probably cash in now.
Wishing you good luck. Really, it comes down to whether you want it on your plate right now or not.

    Hi,
I managed to walk away from this. Quite hard really. Very comfy seats, huge windows and tan interior make it feel very airy inside. Great colour as well. 2.0turbo auto, 6month mot, 60t miles and only 1000 Euros. Drives and stops.
Double beige is just great. Perfect Car to bump into things and wet your pants. And end up in flames. But no smell of piss and it would clean Up Well.
I just can't justify it. Does nothing better than my Laguna and weighs 200kg more...
    Or should go back? 😜

    Quite an evocative shot here.

    And I’m guessing its predecessor!

I know I'm a nostalgic old gimp, but that shot of the dash really does highlight how quickly interior design moved from square, angular and functional to fluid and contemporary.
Great purchase.  I'd have definitely bought it (and made a poo at the same time looking at his Facebook feedback and the seller's location!)

Pretty sure John F is a fallen soldier of Modgate, when it was decided nobody could be trusted to think for themselves any longer. There was also a heady cocktail of covid mixed in too. A real shame.

I keep tripping over PW memories I thought I should share. In no particular order...

^^ Outside @John F's residence on returning from Shitefest Lincolnshire (2017?), and here featuring @gdhaydock and @Captain Flimble Where are you guys?

There are stories behind every picture of course. My albums are chaotic, so I'm sure I'll find more.

If you really want to just squirrel it away in a corner and revisit it at some point in the future, I would absolutely recommend an outdoor-speicification CarCoon.  @Crackers has had some recent experience with one of these, and they really are good.  A car put into one of these is actively dried out, and will not rust any further.  Yes, they are a little bit spendy when bought, but the running costs are utter peanuts (you could likely run it from a solar panel if you're so inclined) and you'll then always have it to put another future project in.
If space isn't the primary issue, then it could well be a good option for the time being. and mean that when you do make the decision on it, it's not 2/3/4 years more rotten than it is now.
    Second-hand one here:
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364775783912
And even if in 2 years time you still decide to get shot of it, the CarCoon will still be worth decent money.  That second-hand one has only depreciated by 17% of the cost of a new one! (surprisingly)

Also, spending £350 on a welding setup and learning how to use it opens up a lot of future misery will save money in the long term if you intend to keep living the chod life…
Of course if time is the big enemy you’re kinda boned.  There is a reason cars are often a retirees game…
Having said that, every job can be completed if time is given, even if only an hour or two a fortnight, it just takes longer…

Not a family car, but a family garage.  Branton's of Felixstowe, run by my Great Great Uncle Frank.

There's still very much a garage on that site, and Branton's are bloody everywhere in Felixstowe!
