  1. I'm just a grumpy arse! Seriously though, one exchange was a bit uncomfortable. HEY - CAN I MAKE YOUR CAR FAMOUS? It already is. YEAH BUT I CAN MAKE YOU FAMOUS TOO!!1! I already did fame the hard way. DON'T YOU WANT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE TO SEE YOUR CAR? It's bad enough that I have to see it, never mind others. The only aspect of the car that I really enjoy is its story, and that has been told many times already. At some stage it'll be done properly and well by someone I trust to do it justice, but getting people SMASHING THAT LIKE BUTTON with no discernible talent and on the coat tails of others feels wrong. Want to review a car? Buy one like the rest of us...
  2. Thing is with catering - the vans won't come if they're competing with 50 other trailers etc, so it's a balancing act. We queued, at lunchtime, 10 minutes for chips. I've waited longer on a Friday night in the pissing rain at a generic chippy. No complaints there. It's not that it's become over commercialised, I think it's just become very big. If I were Hagerty, I'd be handing it over to a proper event company to run now with proper marshalling to stop 14 plate Vauxhall Zafira's parking with the chod. modern parking through another entrance to completely prevent cross polination. a hard and fast cut off to chod. I think it has to 25 years minimum which reflects changing tastes and encourages the next generation through. a proper stage schedule. It was a good day but, even as a car fan, I'd had enough by 1430. It would definitely work as a weekender, and I'd happily pay £60 for camping and a bit of live music in the evening. It'd likely need a different venue but, tbh, it's probably time for a change anyway. Solid 8/10 for me. Fix the moderns and the Youtubers and it'd be a 10 (!)
  3. This lady left a zero word review of the Sierra.
  4. Hey man. We made a dart for it about 1430 as we’d seen it all and I needed to be somewhere else. It’d be good to rendezvous at ECR; perhaps @Spottedlaurelmight make a cameo too.
  5. Good to see so many familiar faces there today. We got in earlier so no drama, but the sound of imminent failure echoed across the lanes as, once again, people took too long to get parked. Still, the bASe got lots of attention (mainly due to being parked next to a Delorean) and I successfully managed to avoid every YouTuber, Content Creator and weirdo who was there. (literally hundreds) my son takes a truly terrible photo!
  6. It makes me very happy to see a young family enjoying the old lady. I only sold it because my wife gave me the elbow and a man without a family needs more modestly sized motoring. Hope you have many, many exciting adventures with it.
  7. I’m certain this one must be in the ledger by now, but just LOOK IT.
  8. I think the clues were above. No, my views don’t align with what you’ve said above. Whether or not those are the views of the members involved is another matter, but no. My knowledge of cerebral palsy and disability is first hand, and I’d not want to spend an hour in that position. But. I’m still none the wiser as to why the questions posed above are too hard for someone to acknowledge and answer. 1. what happened to the agreed process of moderation. 2. why posts were deleted. I hope that clarifies my personal position. I only speak for myself. There is no TDW hive mind or collective standpoint. I frequent many forums. The value of your investment may go down as well as up. YMMV.
  9. Nah come on man, you’re better than that. The posts above yours are both valid questions: one asking what happened to the agreed moderation plan and one asking specifically why a post was deleted. I don’t see the need to be so tribal about TDW- there’s plenty of disagreement and calling out. There’s honestly no need to be so tribal, especially when it’s existence stems from the self appointed moderators here reneging on their pledge of free speech. Peace out.
  10. My father is very much of the opinion that those in receipt of benefits should receive food vouchers, childcare vouchers etc blah. Unlike AS, I don’t believe in a programme of re-education for those I disagree with, so I smile politely - mumble something about him being a bit of a tit - and move on. (However, he is nearly always right on the Sky TV and tattoos thing) It’d be a shame if this thread got trashed though. Yes, it’s someone pursuing their interest but - moreover - it keeps some of the chariot talk out of the other threads which I’m a big fan of.
  11. Autoshite in 2023. Chancer: My advice in these situations is “Don’t hate the player - hate the game”. Aprospos nothing in particular: Plenty of us all make questionable life decisions. Many of my motoring and fiscal ones would be best categorised as “ill-advised”. But then so is shouting at a wall, which is what you’re doing.
  12. Put a yellow rear door on for the reverse Saul Goodman. Which sounds like something you’d do in an enemies toilet.
  13. I’m having a minor crisis about this one. PHOTOCOMPRESSIONYO This is what I’ve been waiting for. And it’s not unreasonably priced in the theatre of 80s Fords. But living in an old house means there’s always something waiting to be done. But then there’s this… God damn. Anyone want to buy shares?! Thought not. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155662109956?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=b4uHYFhIRr6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=bLN3t80CSea&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  14. From memory it shat an alternator whilst he was on holiday; hence a huge bill. It was adored by us and the reverend before. It’s a good one, no doubt.
  15. Ah. I see! Well bought @Andy F We loved it. I bought it from a very modern vicar who was based in London. He sold because ULEZ. The miles were accrued because he would take his big family down to the South of France two or three times a year. He spent an absolute fortune on it over the years and I genuinely think it’s the best I’ve seen for sale in two years.
  16. It was all done. I paid cash for the job hence a lack of paperwork. Should the new buyer want to talk to the garage, he’d happily confirm it was done. Even cash it was £600!
  17. 40 today. Still love it as much as the lass who took me to fetch it. Mixer feelings.
  18. I would really appreciate it, unless someone's taken it already? I wasn't planning on having the Sierra still with me - but it's still here!
  19. Finally got around to servicing the Rav. It really is a joyous thing to have, and underneath it’s fairly close to perfect. I’m continually amazed by it. Usual story when I service a car myself for the first time. Sump plug was genuinely finger tight, oil filter meanwhile ended up like a crushed coke can. Anyone know how to enter the mechanics olympics? Oil filter tightening is clearly a sport. Wonderful things to service these - front facing oil filter, sump near the front and - for the first time ever - I probably had the car too high! I could barely reach to take the oil filter out, and I’m 6’1. Next job is to spray up the underneath this summer and two front tyres are required too. Took it to Tesco and found a fellow V reg Toyota chum. 🥰 157,677 (Not Out)
  20. All been a bit shit since lunchtime. Down, now back but slow. Just FYI
  21. We seem to have looped back, via one one seamless segue, from a failing server - to an invacar. In one breath. Perhaps it’s best if it stays broken 🤷‍♂️
  22. Dude. Nobody knows what's happening. Not even the administrators. Pass the hat around all you like. You might as well pass a piss bottle around too for all the good it's going to do.
  23. Feels like it’s about to break again, any moment. Really lumbering to load the first page. TDW is standing in as a ‘Nightingale Winchester’ if anyone wants to decamp until this all blows over. All opinions welcome and celebrated. (No need to be adversarial, just come talk shit)
