Pulled the wiper arms off and started on the easy side with the most access- through the hole left by the dash gauges.

Up in there is the locking bolt and backing plate for the wiper escutcheon.

    Relatively easy access.

Then as with all these things, the plate was stuck to the body with the remains of the rubber seal. Gently prised off and everything came loose, including shearing the old washer pipe. That'll be replaced.

Entire assembly. Ball joint was gritty. Arm spindle itself would barely move.

Copious quantities of penetrating oil and then engine oil later and it spins around freely.

Cleaned up and ball joint greased; left to sit and drain down.

Had a bit of a poke at the surround, cleaned it up a little. I'll need to put some rust converter and a bit of paint before reassembly.

Going to go look in the catalog to see if they sell the rubber seals as the original one fell to pieces.

Other one another day because the glovebox really needs to come out to get at it.

The bit I'm struggling with is that there are two blokes who I don't know, have never met and will probably never meet, who are piss-boilingly angry with me and slinging insults about some deleted thread that I NEVER ACTUALLY POSTED IN.

How did we get here again?

I met him once, he and Skizzer came and collected my old Granada. Got to speak as you find, he’s a really nice bloke imho.

    Skizzer on the other hand...

I quite liked Breadvan to be fair, an intelligent and rather colourful character.

I love my Land yacht. And yes, if fuel was cheaper I’d be using yank motors all the time. They know how to make a car. Yes, the handling may be not so good, but I’ve never had an issue with my 89 grand marquis. I’ve tried to sell it a few times but there’s no love for an 80s comfort barge of awesomeness. So for now, it’ll stay.

It's high time I updated properly from the last few days.

I left Ghost Hotel a few days ago in bright (but short lived) sunshine.

I headed down into Koblenz and got my last views along the Rhein before changing rivers.

On the other side of Koblenz I got my first view of the Mosel.

The sides of the Mosel valley are almost entirely taken over with grape vines.

The steepness doesn't show on the pictures, but all the way along there are metal tracks heading up the sides with these cool little buggy things which have room for grapes and a little seat. I'm not sure if I'd enjoy riding one though.

All along the valley are painfully pretty villages and towns. They all appear to consist of one third houses, one third hotels/guesthouses/restaurants and one third wine producers/sellers (all closed for winter).

The whole of the first day along the Mosel, I had the river one side and train tracks the other. Where the tracks were raised above road level there were tunnels underneath to get to the wine slopes.

Places to make camp were scarce, steep slopes one side and river the other. I investigated a few of these tunnels thinking if the worst came to the worst I could just pitch my tent inside one, but I found one that lead to a little old unused path up the hillside and found just enough sort of flat land to camp.

    Looking down towards the river.

And looking up to my tent (concealed in the centre of shot).

It was a squeeze but okay.

I even had a little waterfall running past to provide relaxing sounds and make me want a wee every hour through the night.

So that was the day before yesterday. Today and yesterday's update to follow shortly.

No offence taken at all. It is, by any reasonable thinking, a foolish route South but I am a fool.
The main reasons I'm where I am are -
    Ferry to Holland was cheap.
I wanted to visit my friend in Cologne.

That's it really. Not a huge amount of thought gone into it. It does feel like an endurance test/battle at times, but I've seen many things/places I would never have done otherwise so I can't complain (much).

Mustard mitt I am surprised that the shag thread got canned. Imo I do think it is just a tad overkill. Apologies if this offends anyone.

Most of us on here are fully grown men. We know what we like and I always found the shag thread light hearted entertainment. I know that some threads might be a bit explosive like politics which does unfortunately bring out the worst in us. But I never found the shag to be like this. It did to me seem to be a number of pictures of fully-clothed women we like.

Just as an idea, would it not possible for us to have a vote on bringing it back or canning it fully?

In other news. I really don't want to be at work in a lonely office arguing with French people right now. I mean really....
