Can't see why not, meet up in the car park about 1pm? I need to be away from derby about 2.30pm as nipper has a brownies sleepover, or we could do an epic session at a later date?

These things seem to be under the radar to the average car buyer that will normally go down the A3/Golf/Bora or Focus/Astra route when buying a normal everyday car..

Yet with jap oily bits these seem to go on forever and a day like clockwork and are cheap to run and ultra reliable and drive really well yet can be had for the price of a weekend Booze up..

    September 1994.

British agriculture is in a slump.

However, diversification and the new EU subsidies are the new buzzwords and one Cheshire barley baron decides to treat himself to a new motor.

He's been running a mildly poshed-up Land Rover for a few years, but it's not really cutting it anymore, and despite a few recalls and much warranty work, that Diesel Turbo motor hasn't been very reliable.

Our man is also now head of the family empire, with a greater standing in the local community and landlord to many peasants  tenants. Yes, it's definitely time for new wheels, but what?

By chance, what was once the world's greatest magazine is available at the local Post Office.

    With topical content.

Further reading comes from The Autocar's September 28th issue.

Smitten by the Solihull products and the promise of a good trade in price, our man is presented with all the bumpf for the NEW Range Rover...

However he is naturally cautious of the new technology and also incredibly tight.

The outgoing 'Classic', with dealer discount taken into account, is cheaper.

    And just look at it...

Being a farmer our man goes for the diesel Vogue, specifying a manual box, tow pack and heated screen.

    In Ardennes Green...

    With the standard Brogue Velour.

No doubt the deal may have been sweetened by some of the stylish merchandise on offer at the dealership.

Eleven years and four owners later...

    My dad bought it.

    Seven years faultless service later...

Dad gave it to me, and two months later I seized it solid on the M1 at 75mph.

Despite getting a replacement engine the week afterwards it has been 18 months before I had the arsedness to do anything to it. My reluctance was compounded by the knowledge that all was not well in the RR's superstructure. However I brokered a deal with a good mate who has had it down in his workshop, swapped the engine, replaced the sills, patched the floor etc and got it a new MoT. (With the excellent assistance of AS' own SKOZE)

    Here's how it looks today:

It's covered in scratches, dents and dings, the tailgates are both borked and the scuttle below the windscreen has severe 'Len Hatred'. The interior is pretty good bar the usual headlining held up with drawing pins; it's had genuine mats and seat covers which have kept things tidy.

I insured it today for a bargain price with RH, then taxed it and went out with the wife this afternoon. It drives lovely! OK its no V8 (I've had those and they are ace) but it's still good.

Priority job is to splash some rustproofer about in a vain attempt to keep it semi-solid then look for some tailgates, doors etc etc (if I can be arsed)

I bought a cheap winch for the Freelander.
Not because I am one of those "its gripped, its locked, its sorted, lets offroad" knobbers but mostly to help me with felling trees, of which I have a huge amount to do this coming autumn.
I normally use the car as a ground anchor with a steel cable and hand winches to pull a tree if I need it to fall in an awkward direction which is tricky on my own so this winch, which has a wireless remote, should be handy.

In my normal style, I built the mounting bracket from scrap steel lying around the farm and went slightly* overboard. Its made from 5 and 6mm plate and looks like you could mount an anchor winch for a cruise liner on it.
After I finished I looked up winch mounts on google images and they are generally much lighter than mine.
    Eh, whatevz...

Right, let's crack on with Part Three - Fatigue Zone.

QUESTION 15 - What car does this door opening apparatus furnish? (2 points)

QUESTION 16 - Yep, it's that time again. (2 points).

QUESTION 17 - This car is currently for sale somewhere in the world. How much is it advertised for in pounds equivalent (2 points within £500) and what is it? (2 points).

QUESTION 18 - This is a repeat of a question featured previously on Quiz 1.0. It's the Toy Cannon Distance Projectile Prediction Challenge. SNAPPY.
The difference this time is that instead of firing a toothpick, the cannon will be firing a flaming match. JEOPARDY.
The outcome will be videoed for the results show.

Here is the projectile that will be used.

Here it is next to a box of matches for scale.

Here is the weapon in question, on some scales for scale.

The weather at outside launch time is predicted to be 19C, overcast, humidity 51%, visibilty very good, pressure 1017 Millibars, wind direction WSW 9mph.

The cannon exerts some amount of force, we measured it last time but someone forgot to go back and check the figures. What I can say is that during it's only test fire, the match went what looked like a good 3 or 4 worth of me and I'm 6'5".

So how far will it go? (6 points within 6 inches, 5 points within 10 inches, 4 within 14, etc.)
Also, for a bonus will the match still be burning immediately after landing (on grass)? Yes or No? (2 points)

    QUESTION 19 - SDWHD. (2 points)

Okay, another quick break for a message from our sponsors. Part 4 coming up soon.

Welcome one and all to Quiz 2.0.
The rules are dead simple. Please don't post up any answers, if you want to enter then PM me them using the answer sheet I'll post up at the end or the back of a beer mat or telepathy or whatever. If you don't want to enter, don't.
The quiz will be posted up in several chunks which may take a while but once it is fully loaded it will be left up and answers will be accepted until probably Sunday lunchtime-ish.
There are definitely three (rubbish) prizes, details of the Top* Prize are a bit further above.
Norris McWhirter will be our official adjudicator. Any questions or problems, just holler.

Now just sit back, relax and enjoy the soothing penetrative rays of QUIZ 2.0.

It's a great pleasure for Bucket Inc. (Quiz Division) to welcome back for the second time a quiz show king, famed acrobat, noted gynecologist and all round good egg, it's Mr Henry Kelly.

     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0pvFulUd98

Hello everyone. Henry here to frot your brains with new and unimproved Quiz 2.0. It's great to be back, things haven't been going so well for me this year. Shit got real for H Dog. I split up with Shanice, she was playing me. She's shacked up with that bastard Ted Rogers now and left me to look after little Morgan, Jamarcus Jr, Draylon, Shampiqua and Topsante on my own.
Things WILL get better though. My dragon is in the ascendency. My time is coming. All will feel my force and reap the whirlwind.

    Aaaaanyway,  time for the Quiz.
I'll ease you in, slowly, gently and inappropriately, with some easy starter questions.

QUESTION 1 - We're immediately back to an old favourite with the first question. Yes, it's an unpopular return for Slightly Drunk Wrong Handed Drawing. Just guess the make and model. For future reference, make and model answers are just required in simple terms, eg: Porsche Niva, Jaguar Jimny, etc. No engine size/trim level answers required unless asked for.
So, on two separate occasions our brave quiz division got a bit drunk and drew pictures of cars with the wrong hand.
    What is it? (2 points)

Question 2 - Make and model again please. (2 points)

Question 3 - I've got a big hot throbbing Dingbat for y'all to chomp on now. Just say (write) what car you see. (2 points)

Question 4 - A friend of Bucket Inc. (Spotting Division) recently sent in this photo. He is one of their numerous global sub-pappers who've been trained to go out into the world and hunt down good chod. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have fully understood the concepts of spotting and Woollarding. Still a sturdy effort though.

Anyway, my question is simply this. What nationality is he? (2 points)

Question 5 - Unscramble the tiles to rearrange a well known phrase. (2 points)

Question 6 - Another SDWHD here. WHASSIT?

Question 7 - I sneeze a lot. A metric snotload of sneezing. When I sneeze next, where will the International Space Station be? (2 points)

The station is tracked on here . . . .
    http://iss.astroviewer.net/
The exact position will be noted upon commencement of the next sneeze event.
Four points for exact country, two points for correct continent.

Right, I've got the itch now so I'm going to take a break and slip into something more slutty whilst you watch the ad break.

    Back with Part Two soon(ish).
