60Nm would be a 6kg weight on the end of your one meter breaker bar with the pull of one normal earths gravity so if you can lift a bag of spuds in Tescos*  (other supermarkets are shit as well) with one hand then you can do this , the 20Nm then 60Nm is for the tightening sequence. The +150 degrees will really jam everything together and you'll struggle to undo the now stretched bolts.

Just had an email that FLASH30 will bring you almost a third off most of their stock.

These sales seem to happen as much as full prices hold sway, to the extent if there hasn't been an obvious offer on and I've been forced to buy something there, I'll ask how much discount they'll give me.

Most of the time, cross-referencing parts databases are our friends - if you're driving about in pre-millenial chod which doesn't share its bits with modern stuff. It may take four or five minutes more than simply ebaying a wordy description of what you need, but can bring reduction many times greater than ECP's sales drives.

In the last couple of weeks, I've bought new calipers for under a tenner including delivery, the same for pairs of discs and brake pads. They were often listed with just their own part number, sometimes the OE number too.

In fairness these were bin-ends which stockists wanted rid of, but quoting numbers instead of names usually brings a decent saving, either because it's a seller who only wants trade from people who won't be returning items when they're the wrong shape or surprisingly often because someone who has bought the wrong stuff and is trying to minimise his losses. I missed a set of Yaris discs and pads by Pagid for £15 on Sunday, because nobody had bid an hour before the auction and the seller removed them.

I'll report how the Motaquip pads get on with QH discs on the Volvo - some would say they'll self-destruct as soon as you need to brake hard, I'd say it's autoshite done right. And a lot more friendly for the environment than binning the unwanted parts, just as it's the way with our old cars.

Got a few Laser bits for work spanners and odd sockets. No trouble here. I would like to also speak up for Signet socket sets I have had the 3/8 6 sided set for about 15 years of amateur spannering on old crocks no problem here. I use Halfords pro stuff most days at work ratchet spanners an 1/4 socket set again good but have had a few warranty claims in about 8 years. Never had a problem swapping the Halfords stuff and its mainly trinkets that break like in Eddie Hondas Post.
Anyone buying Halfords always wait for the half price sales.

I think there is a flat-line point, after which there are no returns for any extra spent. Now this varies with (type of) tool to tool, but either it does the job or it doesn't.

Here's an example of a piece of bollocks - A Halfords Advanced Pro 3/8" drive TX-55. Having a Torx bit with a bigger head than shaft is a recipe for breaking:

(To be fair, Halfords didn't complain in replacing it - twice.)

Now you might say I was abusing it, but they shouldn't make stuff for a fastener size that it can't handle. So while it might be part of a 170 piece set (bottom right corner):

I'd counter it's just one of a number of chocolate filler items that are in the set.

A TX-55 should have a straight shaft, like this Laser Tools one. It doesn't need to be this long (unless you are taking off a XUD head), just of uniform cross-section:

The other nice Laser Tools bit of kit I have is

Everything works, even the Air Con!

It drives lovely.  Bit firm, but I'll forgive it that.  It really reminds me of the Ignis in its internal dimentions.  Theres loads of room for such a small car and the 1.3 doesnt half pull it up to 60 in a hurry.

I threw is round the lanes with far too much gusto and nearly came a cropper.  It does feel very planted and maybe lulls you into a false sense of security.  When we got back the missus said i was leaning it a bit.

    Great little car.

If I ad to critisize it, I would say that the shift is a bit stiff.  Maybe that will ease off.

    '88 F Citroen BX 19 GTi 8v
    MOT: February 2017
Miles: Reads 90k but speedo hasn't been working until I got it, I replaced the cable but it has now stopped working again !

She drives absolutely ace - engine pulls really well and she is really nippy. Previous owner replaced spheres all round within the last year and it's had a recent LHM flush.

Stacks of history in a lever arch file.

Cosmetically she isn't bad, she's a bit rough around the edges but that's part of the charm. She's solid though with no dents or scratches.

Interior - drivers seat is a GTi seat but doesn't match the rest of the trim. Glovebox is missing but I've got a replacement which I will fit and also a drivers side A pillar trim.

She was running really lumpy from cold when I got her but with use this doesn't seem to be so much of an issue. Suspension goes up and down as it should.

I don't particularly want to get rid of her but I do need a large diesel in the fleet which is missing at the moment, but a White LHM carrying Dizzler has been agreed on as a replacement 😉

There are some spares in the boot that came with it but I have not looked through them.

She owes me £500 and that's the shiter price if there is any interest before I brave eBay mongs at £795.

Taxed to get you home M8
    Leather interior!
Quite snazzy 14" alloys, unsure if Ford or aftermarket but do look quite good.
    81,000 miles (will double check)
Bodywork pretty good (better than average I suppose, considering it's a Ka)
A smidgeon of rust by filler cap, a weird sort of dent (with rust) on boot and probably some other dings etc, will have a better look L8R and report back.

Main problem is the inlet manifold is leaking (water) which according to an internet search is a common problem. I have no idea how long it could be driven for, so make no promises or suggestions on that score.

(pictures taken when last owner bought it)

What are these things worth? F*ck knows, but I would think a fair bit more than my Autoshite one-off-special-offer-buy-now-to-ensure-disappointment price of just* £155.10.

I'm in Chester near the M53, railway station and zoo, so you could have a day out looking at large animals pissing themselves, then try and drive home in a small car pissing itself. WCPGW?

*Edit if anyone near Andover wants it and is planning to trailer it home I'll knock a few quid off if you can pick that Mazda MX5 up that Sigmund Fraud is selling and bring it here!

I use the 'quality' Sunday newspapers to light the fire after someone else has chucked them out. Today I saw Guy Martin had road tested a Ford Mustang in the Sunday Times. He was standing in for Clarkeson.

Most entertaining reading about the car's huge long bonnet and reasonable fuel consumption. The steering wheel needs turning a bit much for Guy's liking and it would be a bit of a handful on a track day but the electronics would get you out of trouble. He forgot to mention that the controls fell readily to hand. Cunt.
