I scored these really awful fake sheepskin seat covers in a charity shop recently for a tenner. They now reside in ol' bluey but I'm not sure for how long as they really are shit...

Wow, there's something really erotic about that keyhole cover. I think I'd want to keep starting the car over and over again.

    Hi All & welcome

I had been looking at the forum and all the great motors and thought that i may as well ruin it and add mine to the mix

I have a 1983 Reliant Rialto and a 2001 Kia Shuma that i like to keep clean and looking its best.

The Rialto had had a bit done since i broke down on the way home for buying it. Its had a new radiator, coolant flush and a new waterpump, full repaint and new chrome mini trims. Love it, its great fun. Shuma is great too, they are all disapearing from the roads now and howmanyleft says aboiut 1000 have gone in the last year!

Unless its smashed, just zip-tie it up. Its hardly the worst of bodges.

Removal is all fine and well, but it prevents muck and road-shart being sprayed up into the engine bay and into the serpentine belts etc and provides a (very) small amount of protection from impacts.

The point - with my cynical head on - was to stimulate the economy by getting people to buy new cars "for £2k less" (WOO, GOOD VALUE!!!) using borrowed money. This was hidden behind the usual "good for the environment" nonsense plus a lack of hard information about the reality of the situation which is normal nowadays...

Even if the cars came from abroad and much/most of the money went back there, the banks made a significant profit; if people don't borrow money from the banks then UKplc is totally scuppered - UKplc subsists on personal and corporate debt (and the interest charged on it) and wouldn't last long without it, don't forget .

And yes, Boris is 'misguided' in much of the stuff he suggests! Unfortunately, I suspect he will go far and get into a position to really mess things up nationally rather than locally (as he can do now).

If I'd had the funds to buy a new car and an unsaleable old shitter on the drive the scrappage scheme would have had another "victim".

As it was, I had a selection of old shitters on the drive and no new car funds, so it didn't make any difference to my car buying ideas.

If they bring it back next year - and I've won the lottery or something - then I'll chop in my x type for a Jag XE S.

I'm a regular on the VOC forum which up until now has been very good. Is getting a few nobbers who can't afford to slamstancedubscene and are turning to ballsing up innocent 240s.
only sites I like are AS Aronline. Used to comment on a few 'put a small block in it' US sites but they are such a narrow minded, know it all bunch I can't be arsed any more.
Facebook is very easily hacked (according to egg head GCHQ persons) so I wouldn't put anything to do with me or my motors near it.

Well, the problem is you are selling to the British public and most of them seem to be idiots. You only need to read the comments section after ANY news/celebrity/social media post to realise that.

Best thing to do is make millions and just throw stuff away or give it to charity.

I'm off the AS facebook page now as it got too irritating even for me, and I post a lot of shit on facebook. Even the Volvo Owners UK page is getting irritating with "LOL M8 I CHIPED MY T5 N NW I GET 800 DONKEYPOWERS" when all I really want to do is perve over manky 700 estates.

Unsurprisingly there are hundreds of them round here, mostly used in various states of illegality.

If you ever find yourself at Carcassonne airport with time on your hands (there is fuck-all else to do there and its miles from the city) have a wander round the carpark. There is always a selection of long-abandoned UK registered chod with flat tyres, moss growing under them and hundreds of sun-bleached flyers under the wipers.
I also saw this a few years back....

Someone would have got a nasty surprise when they got off their plane.

I think its a load of crap. They quote "save the tax payer £20million a year"..... no it wont. It'll mean someone else gets £20million RICHER, while car tax keeps going UP. Wankers.

    Which means two things:

    1. Even my eight-year-old knows that every website that hasn't existed before can't possibly have a precedented volume of traffic,
so which other volume of traffic than an unprecedented one could the site possibly have?
Had the DVLA said "we'll never meet again being as young as we are now" - the meaninglessness would have been equal.

    2. The DVLA is unaware that a few more cars were registered since King Edward took delivery of his Daimler in Spring of 1902, hence
the NPR doesn't know more than maybe a handful of numberplates and we have nothing to fear.

Acrylic anything is shite. Amongst other things I paint a lot of windows and other joinery products, oil based is the biz for keeping water out.
Hammerite is the bollocks for doing under floors and inside wings. It stays slightly chewy not brittle and I usually blow over it with some underseal. In cavities I use Sika wax- ace, it comes out like cold piss and gets in all the nooks, then hardens and sticks like shit to the proverbial.
Kurust is alright for wee jobs around the engine bay like a brake servo but I don't like it on bodywork as I'm not sure paint sticks to it. Don't use galvanised steel to plate over holes, paint doesn't stick and don't use red oxide primer it's soft as shite and cellulose doesn't stick to it.
Do wire wheel stuff to death before painting it. I think it's good to both clean and provide a key. Cellulose isn't going to want to stick to something that's been sanded to 2000 grit.
As for Volvos, they were at least partially galvanised, and properly hot dipped too not shite electro galvanising. I had a Lotus with galvanised chassis, rest of the car was tat but the 35yr old chassis had zero corrosion. The zinc was 1/8" thick.
