  1. And what’s that nestled in the background? Posh North London at its finest.
  2. You can get an optional foot lever for the DCT- I’d be interested to try one!
  3. I quite like the look of this as a ULEZ family wagon but the advisories and weird things wrong with it are sapping my enthusiasm. Lies!
  4. These are starting look almost funky
  5. That went well using a cutting disc on a dremel with a washer as a guide. I was miles away from the sealing surface. it’s all back together with the pedal jammed down with wood- I’ve had success with that bleeding method before but I’ve never known why it works..
  6. Good shout but the fitting also joins 2 brake pipes into the one outlet on the M/C. Thinking a bit more about it, I reckon I’ll screw in a sacrificial banjo bolt and crush washer to use as a guide for grinding the M/C. That way if I take a tiny chunk out by accident it will protect the sealing surface
  7. Yeah! It’s still ace! Just got back from a 1200 mile round trip to Scotland in fact. I’ve kind of outgrown it, but rather than getting something bigger and inferior I’ve just got a humongous roof box.
  8. Would I be better to file the M/C (iron or sommat?) or fitting (brass?)
  9. I had a jolly time today changing the master cylinder on the camper. It was all going soooo well. Out with the old, in with the new BUT WAIT! It was only after I fitted it that I noticed that the new one has a bit of a protrusion that means that this union bit doesn't quite fit.. Should I A) take it apart, send it back and get the right one B ) Use two/three crush washers like a total arse?
  10. TAKE THAT, AGENTS OF THE GOVERNMENT (not sure why the garage wouldn’t have done all the CV boots but hey-ho) Welding and CV boots done for £150 which seems alright to me
  11. Good advice thanks! Out of interest, what’s the science behind it failing in this way? Ie, why is it only failing with vacuum assistance? Is it just as simple as a failing seal?
  12. It had crossed my mind but I thought the general verdict on those was that they are a pain and pretty rubbish?
  13. What have we got going on at the moment? I've been sipping petrol on the NC700X courtesy of @pilninggas which is enjoyable in a sipping petrol sort of a way. I've really got a hankering to try a big BMW though- currently dreaming of an R1150RT for crunching those motorway miles. I sadly said goodbye to the Morris which was a bit of a heartache. Which makes way for something a little chunkier from @cms206 with assistance from @Talbot. Thanks lads! It was many many miles away up home in Scotland without an MOT, so I ummmed and ahhhed about what to do until a cheap backload slot became available and I got one of those "your vehicle is the on the way" shots.. Yay! First things first, the satisfying job of dispatching with the greenness. Which has it looking pretty swell.. As long as you don't look at this bit... It runs really nicely! Although with a strong whiff of petrol... Oh. It only leaks with the engine running though which could mean either return or sender. Some thorough googling suggests that these don't need the return line and are happier without them. Bypassing the pipework in the engine bay then starting her up again gives us a 50/50 chance of success.... which... was ... A SUCCESS! Many minutes were spent fiddling about with old contacts on bulbs etc to get all the lights working. The washer pump had the neighbours calling the RSPCA but with a carefully considered cocktail of penetrating lube and contact cleaner it was able to clear its throat in a moment caught on camera for ever more.. With the (new) battery secured (thanks Andy!) it was off to the MOT station, more to see what it failed on rather than an expectation of a pass.. which brought us this news... The tester showed me around and it was a pretty fair verdict I reckon... A tiny hole in the inner wing and some CV boots. I'll take that. The idea of jacking this up and tackling the CV boots on my sloped driveway doesn't fill me with glee, so I reckon I might just farm it out. Once the ticket has been achieved I'll start sprucing it up somewhat. I think I'll take a phased approach, making sure I like it and I get the use out of it before spending loads and loads of time/dosh on it. Most urgently I'll be tackling this leaky spot which is causing a mossy drivers footwell. Oh, and the brakes! Andy mentioned they were a bit funny and indeed they are- without the engine running the pedal is nice and firm. With the engine running, about 1 out of 5 presses reveals a mushy pedal. It's not all the time though- I'll start with a check for leaks and a bleed and see how we go from there.
  14. I can’t shake the want for a CBR600 or similar. Just feels like the kind of bike I need to try. Would need to be ULEZ compliant so thinking of a ~ 2005 CBR600F4. How horrible are they on the motorway/in town? Does it matter?
  15. I’ve got some of these boots and find them soooo horrible. They’re so stiff I actually struggle to change gear in them, and they feel horrible manoeuvring the bike around to park etc. https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/276099 What’s the deal? Do boots break in after ages? Are these just horrible? Is there such a thing as a light, flexible, warm waterproof boot? What do other people do?
  16. @egg you’ve been on fire recently! Beauty after beauty.
  17. I have an LS2 Valiant 2 that has a very slick flip front and visor mechanism- the front flips all the way round the back, not like a sail on top like many of them. I don’t haven’t tried a huge amount of helmets to compare it to, but fuck me the mechanism makes it very noisy which you remember long after you’ve forgotten how slick the flip is. https://www.motocentral.co.uk/brands/ls2-moto/ls2-helmets/ls2-valiant-2.html
  18. Fun fact*! More powertrain options than sales units
  19. You helped me fix mine too Top Daf energy 👍
  20. I’m really starting to hanker for one of these- can anyone give me an indication of what they’re like for interior space compared to something like a Mk1 Focus?
