  1. When I win the lottery I’ll do a Honda K20 swap into my X1/9 with adjustable bilsteins and Willwood brakes.  It’s been done quite a bit in the states and you can buy everything as a kit to do it from here:

Either that or I’ll just put some Crossclimates on my Focus.

  2. At the lofty peak of my dad’s salesman career, he ordered a BRAND NEW 940 “Wentworth” which I think meant half leather and air con. 1992 maybe?  I can confirm that it was 4 + OD- I spent many a journey wondering how that little button on the gearstick worked.

I can still remember the exact smell of sitting in the back when he delightedly picked it up from the showroom.

Well worth a look, much better to ride than you think and small enough to fit in any shed/cellar/house so you don't have to be worried about some scrote having it away all the time.

    Also:

Need to trim the cables and for some reason am getting no electrics at all out of my new rewired stator (more likely to be the crusty old bike side wiring loom TBH) but sounding pretty good.

Sounds lovely and runs like a champ! Is it a Polini exhaust?

    The electricity mystery continues.

Popped to screwstation Friday night to get a new multimeter (fuck me I know how to party) and this meter gives me numbers instead of rubbish.

    Not great numbers though.

Its upside down because the smartphones and the YouTubes are apparently beyond me now.

Anyway I believe this should be 20+v at idle and up to 35-40 with some revs? I'm getting like 4v at idle and 15-20 only with revving it's tits off.

Safe to say something is wrong but is it definitely the stator? I'm not keen on reloading the parts cannon having already bought a regulator I probably didn't need but I guess it can only be the stator or the flywheel losing magnetisation? And as it runs OK seems unlikely it's the flywheel?

@Dick Longbridge, @Fabergé Greggs you're scooter people, any clues?

    Thanks.

God sorry I can offer no help other than than to say that the voltage does sound lower than I’d expect and the resistance maybe a bit high?

I think I’ve got an old untested stator somewhere but it’s from a largeframe, I presume they’re different?

Also, was there ever 6v versions of these?

As with all Trumpets around that time make sure you got a fully charged battery before even attempting to start it, or risk FUBARing the sprag clutch.

How would you tell if the sprag is knackered, would it not disengage or something?

The discerning* lady would have a Suzuki GSX250E in splendid* re-sale silver.

Right, has anyone got any recommendations for one of those water proof scooter leg shield covers all those commuters in London seem to have, please? Ideally one that A ) stays attached to the scooter B ) you can get your legs out of very quickly when you're about to fall off and C ) suits the budget of a tight fisted fat bastard.

I’ve got a very tatty Tucano Urbano one from a Vespa GTS250 you can have for postage

That does look nice, but a shame it's had a mk2 front panel fitted (just like the one I sold to @Fabergé Greggs)

Oooh that’s a nice one. I find these really sensitive to colour combinations. I adored mine, and this white with red is really nice. But black, red, always look a bit meh to me. Hope that doesn’t render me too superficial!!
