MrRWD got a reaction from Joey spud in Famous Designer of Autoshite - Italadesign
They Hyundai Pony was actually designed by a very famous designer:
Italdesign Giugiaro http://www.italdesign.it/home He Designed Cars like the following, including a lot of Autoshite cars you find here: Hyundai Pony: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/hyundai-pony Famous Golf GTI: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/volkswagen-golf BMW M1: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/bmw-m1 Maserati 4200 Coupe: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/maserati-4200-coupe Dolorean: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/delorean-dmc12 (This was actually styled after the 1974 Hyundai Pony Coupe Prototype) 1974 Pony Coupe Prototype: http://www.italdesign.it/progetto/hyundai-pony-coupe Giugiaro Design: This one is still on the road too. -

The funny thing is, the "Pony Coupe Prototype" was going to be called the "Asso Di Fiori" - Ace of Clubs.
Hyundai asked it to be name the Pony Coupe, at the last minute, as it was built on on the floor pan of a Hyundai Pony.
Five years later, they built the Piazza prototype, and called it the "Asso Di Fiori".

Hyundai Pony GT Trim Level.
Basically a 1600GLS Pony, with a Factory Momo Steering Wheel, and the aero bits you see on the car.
Only saw one black one years ago in the 90's.
Hyundai Pony GT Trim Package: GT package (which included a leather-wrapped Momo 3-spoke steering wheel), tachometer, different trim and badging, fog lamps, and extra lights in the rear. All GTs came with the more powerful 1.6 L engine.

Not sure if it's original, but most likely...
Hyundai Cortina.
People say, the Front Grill and Bumper are a bit different, and they liked it.

MrRWD got a reaction from mat_the_cat in Old KDM - Pony
This car sat for many years with a blown clutch and 110,000KM on it. A simple fix, and it was back on the road. Original Paint, 4spd Manual, with the weak 1.4L engine. This is the North American Spec car with the ugly 5KM/H bumpers that Hyundai had to add. With the gearing of the 4spd (really needs the optional 5spd), it can cruise nicely at 110 KM/H all day long.
It's made several long trips recently.
My favourite comparing the old and the new.

The Stellar was basically an updated Cortina. They all use 4x108 bolt patterns for a reason (Pony included).

It is in really nice condition. As original as it probably gets.

I believe the same owner of the MK1 Pony pictured above owns this Stellar as well. He has several Pony's.
The orange one being the best of them all.

Yes. I have a parts car as well, that is drivable, but stored away.
Didn't have the heart to tear it apart and store the parts. It lives for now.
It has a 1.6L Engine, and 5spd Manual transmission, which is worth rebuilding and putting in here.
