People often wonder if I've found the holy grail of cheap multicar insurance. I haven't, it's very expensive.

I used it for a few months while I did some work on my Porsche, it gave me no problems and was great fun. I ended up with too many cars so advertised it for sale and got a message from a guy a couple of miles away who was supposedly desperate for a car. Delivered it to him and got a text the next morning asking if I still had the Nissan...? Turns out he'd sold it on straight away, presumably to a scrap man seeing as though @SpuriousĀ to me is the last keeper change and a certificate of destruction was issued. Presumably the cat was worth something but it was a 90s nissan with an SR20 and no rust, could have been reliable transport for years to come. Pissed me off to be honest

Piece of piss. 20 or 21mm socket & extension. Undo the nut a few turns and loosen the wheel off the splines by pulling it towards yourself. If it's been on a while it'll take some persuasion and leaving the nut on will stop any interaction between the wheel and your face when it lets go

A short story from my uncle regarding selling a 51 plate Merc ML270 back in May 2007.
He had it listed on eBay and in local newspapers (remember that) and received a phone call from a bloke speaking in broken English asking to view the car. The bloke said he wanted it and would "send wife" to collectĀ it at the price listed in cash with no haggling. Alarm bells began to ring but a time was agreed as he was happy for it to go as he'd bought a new car even if the sale was a bit bizarre.
A carĀ of some description then turned up a few hours later and he opened the front door to three woman clad in black Jilbabs (I believe that's the correct term) who thrust a brown envelope of cash at him "for car" and saying they "need key".
Slightly taken aback by this he told them to hang on and he would get the V5C, let them examine the car, and get them to fill in the green section. There was a bit of back and forth in possibly Punjabi and they then said they didn't want the V5. He then insisted that they had to fill it in there and then but they kept refusing. He then told them he wasn't selling the car to them under those circumstances and asked them to leave. After a bit of confusion due to the language barrier they departed and the car, with a male driver, sped away.
    All quite strange.
Fast forward a few weeks and early one morning there was a sudden loud chap at the door and several serious looking men in suits with English accents (we're in Glasgow) were holding up warrant cards and declaring themselves as Special Branch Anti-Terrorist officers who were investigating the recent terror attack on Glasgow Airport.
It turnedĀ that the women who tried to buy his ML were the wives of the terrorists who wanted it for the attack and but for his suspicions his car would have been infamous. In the end it was a Jeep Cherokee that was used.

The Vestatec Magnum had pop-up headlights and a forward opening bonnet, as well as a heckblendeĀ and a longitudinal engine. I think it would have a retractable aerial as well to give a score of 5

In my own 20 odd years of driving, I have found that the best cars have one or more features from the following list...
    Extending aerial (manual or electrical)
    Frameless doors
    Longitudinal engine (or otherwise non-conventional)
    Pop-up lamps
    Forward-opening bonnet
A 'light bar' between the rear lamps
I haven't owned every feature yet, and I doubt there's one car that has them all, but the more the better!Ā  Oh, and it has to make me look back once parked, that's it!
    My current fleet scores;
    Audi Coupe... 3
    Audi A8... 1
    Hilux Surf... 2
    Mazda 323... 2
    Hiace Camper... 2
    Trabbi... 1
Disappointing performance from the mighty Trabant here, however, maybe the one contest at which it equals the A8!Ā  The best car I can think of according to the criteria above would be a Supra or Mitsi 3000 GTO?Ā  Can't think of a car that has both pop-ups and a forward opening bonnet?Ā  Lamborghini Muira?

My memory is skewed by childhood and nostalgia but the Dedra turbo my dad has in the mid 90s was sublime: comfy, fast and the best seats ever. Nobody was using alcantara apart from Lancia then and itā€™s everywhere now. And they look like an Italian Primera which has to be a good thing. Now theyā€™re remembered as the last car Lancia sold in the UK, and so the model that killed the brand to the point where their current models have to be rebranded as a fuckin Chrysler to have any hope of selling any.Ā
