Obviously 10Kg of filler and a respray does not a restoration make.

There are still loads of them here, I gather they were selling them cheap at one point. The blue one looks like t'wife's uncle's one, he used to go everywhere in it until the rear chassis legs rotted out. The biggest complaint seems to be spares are €€€€

I know a chap here who's about 6'8" and for a while had a Kia Pride, he had to move the seat back on angle iron to fit in it, he was almost sitting in the back...

Why would that be bad? Or were manufacturers worried about the amount of fault lights that other drivers would be able to see as well?

I've fitted exhausts on the driveway before and it's a right fucker unless you've a ramp. If it's the whole system you are replacing I'd weigh in with the grinder and cut it off. I'd use windy gun on the flexi to manifold nuts. Forget undoing them with a ratchet.

I'd seriously see if you know anyone with a two post lift to have a go at this. It's a pain in the neck doing it on the drive.

Update on the Dinin Tagora PRV.
Completed the engine work today, carbs adjusted, CO is fine, seems to run OK, but no road test done yet.
Valves rattle a lot in spite of just being adjusted, seems a lot of dirt still in there.
Cylinder 4 was giving a bit of trouble refusing to fire at idle. A shot of DOT4 into the carb sorted it with a big puff and a nice cloud, fun!

Maybe it's something to do with a rough surface being harder to effectively paint, plus welding producing a small amount of oxidation that needs removing.

I often think of the medieval sculptor who didn't bother finishing the back of statues because nobody could see them. "Ah, but God can see everything" they said, before cutting his balls off.

Is emissions testing not actual bollocks, anyway?

A 320d can achieve 61.4mpg and 120g/km, or so claims BMW. It can also do 0-62mph in 7,5 seconds, but you can guarantee it won't do the latter at the same time as the former. Cars seem to very get driven in a moderate way, such how these figures can be achieved.

Surely the only fair way to declare CO2 emissions is as a worst case scenario? Rather than measuring emissions in a laboratory based on some arcane simulated mix of urban start stop and open road driving, it should be measured under foot-to-the-floor, maximum attack conditions.

An engine should be taxed according to how much pollution it's capable of producing, not little it's hoped to produce.

The Dinin Tagora definitely needs more power. A 2.2 carb steel lump under the hood of this is just plain embarrasing.

After buying an engine, buying another one, burning it, then buying yet another one it was about time to make decisions.
505 Turbo disappointed (sold), Danielson engine still lacks parts (now for sale).  So we decided that "la Dinin" will get the PRV V6 engine from the SX collected recently. The Tagora PRV its the hottest beast we ever had and 100% pure fun, best choice!

Now this is Germany, and you can't simply swap a 2.2L 4 pot against a hot V6, at the next round of TÃœV, they will impound the car right away. So we went to see them first and ended up with an "OK". They will even let us keep the historic registration (much less tax and insurance and access to the "pollution" zones ) but we will have to change the brakes to match the higher power and speed. Tagora GLS has rear drums and single front discs, SX comes with rear discs and larger ventilated front brakes.

That looked like a lot of work... or maybe not. Why not simply divorce the cars and swap the whole drivetrain?
Why discuss, we have the right tools,

so lets do it, today: double divorce.

    Ready to rumble!

Cables, brake pipes, a few screws and hop...

after 34 years of mariage its time to divorce.

Same procedure with the neighbour on the other side.

    and ... swap!

good we did it that way, we found out that not only the brakes are better, also the rear axle is reinforced.

    GLS (4 pot) rear axle:

SX version with additional support arms.

no mention of this in the workshop manual!

Tomorrow will be marriage day, i hope bride and groom will like each other.

Both sides of the rear scuttle panel had completely rotted away and were a little awkward to repair.
A picture kindly supplied by Pshome was a big help.
