  1. Hey Ash, something to bear in mind is that the majority of us on here will typically do a load of research before buying any car and then just buy the one nearest to home (normally after a few beers), find out it’s shite and then flog it for something completely different in much less time than this thread has been going. I can honestly tell you I’ve never looked at 6 of the same car before buying. 2 is my tolerance level before losing the will to live and handing the cash over. I’d rather spend time fixing what I’ve bought than chasing a unicorn. Most of us on here recognise that sometimes you need to tread your own path with these decisions. Nobody here can offer you the reassurance you might like. Any used car purchase is like rolling the dice in Vegas, diesel or petrol. Certainly in the UK, buying cars is ‘cheap’ and easy. If it doesn’t work out, no worries……. Next…… Are things that different where you are? If you buy one and it’s not right, so what? Just sell it and get something else. Even when something is catastrophically knackered somebody will still buy it. I’ve bought plenty of cars in the past that everyone told me not to buy. I’m still here to tell the tale, not filed for bankruptcy just yet and I’ve bought countless cars on eBay sight unseen. If a diesel is what you want, get one. If it all goes utterly tits up, suck it up and make it a great story to tell your mates. Good luck!
  2. If it’s a 69bhp model its the VVT engines. I think all 1.2s had electric front windows. Only the basic 1.1 Actives made do with keep fit windows.
  3. Bloody brilliant cars these 169 Pandas. Is this a 1.2 with VVT?
  4. I’ve never been to Israel but is it any more hilly than the UK? I just googled ‘highest mountain in Israel’ and it’s suggesting its lower than the highest in the UK. It’s a pretty vague comparison but I’d suggest a 1.4 petrol Fiorino would not NEED to be driven at 5000rpm anywhere in the UK unless you were trying to extract every last ounce of performance from it. Overall (in the most polite way I can) I’d suggest you are overthinking this. The petrol will be perfectly adequate and unless you want to tow with it, the petrol will be fine. Furthermore, if you aren’t doing big mileage, seriously……. Get a petrol.
  5. I’m not sure if the Fiorino petrol has the 1.4 Fire engine or the PSA TU but either way, I’d take one of these rather than the 1.3 Multijet diesel. They are great until the first signs of problems. I’ve had the Multijet in a Panda and whilst it was noticeably quicker than the petrol, it was MUCH more complicated and just not worth it. Timing chains DO need changing at roughly 100,000miles and can snap sooner, injectors and all the various sensors/emissions gear are all potentially problematic versus the petrol. Both the TU and Fire petrol units seem to go on and on with little aggravation until they are utterly worn out or the head gasket blows which is still an inexpensive job compared to the diesel. Unless you are doing a lot of motorway driving or desperately need the better fuel consumption, get a petrol.
  6. These Pandas are friggin amazing little things. I miss mine soooooo much! I could run that thing for years for the cost of a single main dealer service on its replacement.
  7. When I drove down to Morocco back in 2020, the paperwork required to bring a vehicle into the country was errrr ‘serious stuff’. You got a stamp in your passport such that you were under no illusion that you WILL take the vehicle when YOU leave. I’ve seen vanlifers have to get their worthless broken vehicles shipped out at silly costs in order to be legit. I therefore did not see an abundance of UK plated cars in Morocco (like you do in Spain after some Benidorm or Bust rally) with the exception of a single black UK rhd E65 730d dumped at the side of the road, tyres flat and looking as absolutely f**ked as any car ever could. Perhaps had been there a year or two making me think it was worth trying to escape the country in order to get away away from an E65. Congratulations on your purchase 😉100% would.
  8. I rarely have any opinion on wheels (except I prefer standard ones) but for some reason those Ronal Turbos just look absolutely fabulous on this car. For info, I think the Favorit is also fabulous!
  9. How about this? FIFTEEN thousand dollars for a 240k mile Honda Civic saloon. https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1478110
  10. I’m not working professionally at the moment but happy to help if you need it with the welding.
  11. My cousin announced to me a few weeks ago that he is hunting for a countryman. There were about 3/4 advertised on the FB group 2 weeks ago that he tried to buy but its all gone very quiet. Let me know if it becomes available 😁
  12. Absolutely love the Dynasty. Let me know if you’re selling the Montego!
  13. I’m in a lonely group of people who hate MX5s. This however is fantastic!! Is there a build thread somewhere?
  14. Loving the great progress on this. I really have a soft spot for these cars. When I was a kid a neighbour had a 2200i Estate in this colour, pretty sure it was a GL model with wheel trims. The dark velour interior was a real cut above the Ladas and Astra L models that were generally on local driveways. I remember the guy was into his tech and had a car phone and fancy Alpine tape player fitted.
  15. @Kiltoxwill trade you a blast in my 1000i for a blast in your 30 😁
  16. I’m so pleased you’re happy with it Steve! Nearly shed a tear when it drove off 😢
  17. From what I hear these 2 cylinder Pandas are pretty solid performers 😁. I would love to own this. My 1000i.e Fire is just so overpowered 😉
  18. This car really does need to make the journey to Pandino 😁
  19. I saw this going up the M1 last night. 100% zero emissions plastered all over the side. I do wonder what the eco credentials really are when this thing is absolutely knackered in little time and with zero parts availability.
  20. I arrived home at 9pm. 1210km today Zurich to Derby. 14 hours door to door including the tunnel. The Panda never put a foot wrong, not a single dodgy moment or anything. Never burnt any oil or used any coolant during the whole trip. I honestly think you could turn it round and do it all again. This is such a good car. Who’d have thought it?
  21. And just like that….. the journey was over 🥱 Today has been a pretty fast run. 850kms from Zurich to Calais. Now just the tunnel and home for dinner and cold beer (hopefully).
  22. I ended up taking the Umbrail Pass from Stevlio down into Switzerland. Cracking days drive today. At my relatives now in Zurich for a few days. Saw these at the top of the Stelvio
