Nowhere in the world is a "safe space" and the very suggestion that such a thing exists is somewhat offensive.
If you want a flaming, then you're more than welcome to one.

Agree on 'everyone is free to be enthusiastic' but why should the forum be a safe space? for you or anyone? Forums are like pubs, most folk are ok but there are some cunts and dickheads also, if you don't like the atmosphere or general consensus it's your problem, not everyone else's to make you feel 'safe'  probably best to take yourself out of the equation if it upsets you too much that others have different opinions to yours.

The overall issue here seems to be a lot of people with a VAST amount of experience driving just about anything and everything over many decades, trying to give advice to someone with none of that experience and allowing said novice to benefit from their errors and experience.
... and that advice being utterly ignored in preference to their own plans.  You can lead a horse to water, etc...
All I'll say is that I wish I'd had this level of genunely useful advice available when I started driving.  As it happens, I didn't do too badly, but I am sure I would have done a lot better if this sort of forum had been available in 1993.  Like all teenagers/early 20's, I thought I knew everything.  Actually I knew practically nothing.

Absolutely follow your dreams, like anyone else, why not.
I can see from reports that it needs a lot of work.
Just pay a normal transport company to get it back, how hard can that possibly be?
Find the parts you need, new or unused ones, like anyone else.
Then find a normal garage willing to do the work and pay them to do it, like anyone else.
I bought an old Cavalier for £150. Besides what I was able to do myself, it needed about £700 of additional work to make it right so I paid someone to do it, I enjoyed it for a while, sold it and it's still alive somewhere.
This is the only way this will work.

But here's the point LBF, and i get where you're coming from regardless on that.
That '£2000' (i'm sure you can find 'something' for less than that, but just using your figure) = a car. Yes, it might not be the car you want right now, but it is a car to do you for the meantime. And If you find whatever it is causes you pain (or you get REV back), you likely haven't lost that '£2000', you can just sell it on and hopefully get all/most your money back again. It shouldn't be a black hole you're throwing money into if you do it right, so a fairly low risk placeholder.

FoD isn't exactly like driving it around London though, is it? My main worry would be how dependable (in the long term) a 50 year old Invacar is going to be when pressed into regular service in a crowded city. Parts are going to wear out, they will have to be sourced, fixed, replaced, etc. Not much of a problem if it is just a hobby, but it could be if it is your main mode of transport.

It’s very clear that you simply cannot take advice and will only change your view once you’ve experienced things yourself - none of us are lending advice for the sake of it.
I have driven a ride on lawnmower around my garden for a lot more than 40 miles, I’ve never gotten off the thing and thought how uncomfortable it is - it’s fine.
I wouldn’t drive it to the FOD though, it’d be shit for actual driving.

Sorry but what a complete load of bollocks, I actually find that quite offensive Dez. The pure fact I’ve agreed only in the last week to go and view a car for you, I even offered to deliver it to your door yet you then spout that it’s clear that I amongst others don’t like you?

I’ve also helped you countless times with insurance questions both in open forums and im fairly sure via DM too.
If thats the thanks I get then shove it mate.

    Further to these two threads:
It looks like I will soon be the owner of a very tidy 1987 Ford Sierra Sapphire 1.8L.
I was looking for a poverty spec Sierra in the south east of England but thanks to @cort16 my next toy currently resides with a collector based in Northern Ireland. A deal has been done and Sierra will be put on a low loader on Monday and arrive here in Buckinghamshire the follow day. I have spoken with the seller, checked out his comprehensive Facebook presence and he seems totally genuine. WCPGW? Nothing. There was talk about me picking up the car in person, however for logistical reasons and my imminent big birthday that will keep me busy for a couple of forthcoming weekends, I wouldn't be able to fly to Belfast for at least the next 3-4 weeks.
I hope to receive more photos from the seller later today but these are images taken from his Marketplace listing.

The Sierra has a genuine 33k miles on the clock, apparently with adequate paperwork to back this up. Online MoT records go back to 2005 and it is clear that the car has seen very little use over the past 18 years and passed most MoT tests outright. 37 year old Sierras don't look this good unless they've been looked after and have clocked up low mileages.
More about this gem once progress is made with the seller.
The reason why I wanted a poverty spec Sierra is because when I was a student, I bought a D reg Sierra 1.6L from my then girlfriend's dad. I paid £800 for the car, which was about 10ish years old at the time and was owned by girlfriend's dad from new. It was mint. I sold it and bought a Guards Red Porsche 924 but that's another story.

Sometime later I bought a Sierra 2.0GL estate. I bought it cheap and it came with Ford Escort S2 Turbo 15" alloy wheels, which I sold for a decent price and fitted a set of Sierra steel wheels and Mondeo trims, which I got from a mate for free. I sold the car a few months later for a lot more than I paid for it. Win.

Fast forward (not Fast Ford) a good few years and when I bought my first house, I needed a cheap estate for tip runs and trips to DIY centres. I bought another red estate, this time a 1.8L, fitted with a lovely CVH engine that snapped its cambelt on the second journey. I had it fixed by a local garage for £250. It needed three valves and a new belt. Later, this became my wife's first car, however as it didn't have power steering and was too heavy to drive, it was quickly replaced with a Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 GLS. That was a good car.

Fast forward even further, my wife and I moved to a rural spot in Buckinghamshire and I treated myself to a lovely Sierra Chasseur estate, again fitted with a 1.8 CVH motor. That was a one owner car, an ex Ford employee who was given the Sierra as a retirement present from Ford management. I kept it for a few months, sold it to a friend who was later diagnosed with a terminal disease and I ended up selling it for him to a complete stranger who looked very pleased with himself as he was driving away. He should have been, it was a lovely car.

Whilst I had the Chasseur, I bought a Sierra 2.0i Ghia hatchback for £150, a runner, with MoT but it was shabby and I flipped it as soon as the V5 arrived, in the process doubling my money.

So, ladies and gentlemen, this is why I want another low spec Sierra. I want to relive the good old times and have a car to play with that won't be flashing an EML at me, won't need an EGR delete and will put a lasting smile on my face.
    More soon.

Do not ignore the low oil pressure warning. There is some kind of seal on the pick up pipe which becomes faulty, causes it to block and if you don't fix it now the engine will be starved of oil and scrap. There was a TTid for sale on here last year by @Imhotepwhich befell this exact fate.
Hope you get things sorted out.

I still can't believe this is still going on
Pay a man to pick up your invacare
Drop it at one of the suggested garages
Pay the bill and pick it up when it's "roadworthy"
Take it for a drive, scare yourself shitless, probably end up running into the back of someone and then realise that the dozens of people who have offered you advice and help were right all along,
It's never going to be fit to drive to fod or whatever
It's not fit to drive in modern traffic
Your not fit enough to drive it
You and it will be a total liability
Grow up, stop dreamin, make some adult choices and get on with your funking life, you seem inable to ask direct questions and pick up the phone, any reasonable person would have sorted this at least a year ago
Then just buy a car, several brilliant ones (not taxis) have been suggested on here but you don't even bother replying to the most sensible posts which will give you the mobility you obviously want and then this constant spinning merry-go-round will finally end.
