Currently sat in the car opposite my house having a standoff with a middle-aged couple walking their two dogs stood outside my house.
Their dogs have done a crap on the path outside my house and they clearly don't have the means to pick it up in a sanitary manner.
They keep looking up to see that I'm still sat in the car. I'm going to make this whole situation as time-consuming and awkward as possible for them.
Still there?

Ah the quality VW infotainment and heater controls, just how shit is it long term? I thought it was a terrible GUI on the hire cars I've had.

A fairly quiet year for me as I've stopped buying unnecessary cars
Out
my old W211 bought from @Pat Earrings a large pothole wreaked havoc, damaged two wheels and tyres and damaged the front suspension combined with the SBC pump failing and the rear air suspension failing led to its demise over the bridge, shame really as it felt bulletproof.
In/out
Chevy Volt EV
I bought this on the premise of it being cheap to run, it wasn't really as I was not on a cheap electricity rate and my weekly mileage changed from 10 miles to 200 miles, found it a bit uninspiring to drive with the CVT gearbox and powertrain when the battery was depleted, sold on here.
In
Passat Highline, immaculate one owner low mileage car with massive history, not much to say really it's a brilliant an car
Stay
our RCZ HDi
its nice, wife loves it, I barely drive it, its staying
Stay
Daughters i20
its filthy, stinks of dogs and looks nothing like the pic above any more.
Can't see any changes for 2024 barring unfortunate events.

On a serious note, what’s the legal position on advisories? Are you breaching your insurance Ts & Cs if you don’t get something fixed ASAP?
No you aren't.

Pontins to close two of it's sites including the one in Prestatyn.
I worked at Pontins in Prestatyn in my early 20's, it was great, mainly because you'd get another load of sex starved nympho's arrive every Friday.

Surely that's worth mega mega £ even like that?
Why? It's not a XR2 or anything, just a ropey old Fiesta, anyone who pays more than 500 quid for it is a mug.

I made a thread (deleted it as changed our mind) and virtually everyone said they either didn’t have one or they’re shit / expensive
Weird, ours costs us around a pound a washload to run, and was only 200 quid to buy, but I guess the hive mind has spoken.

After deciding against buying a tumble dryer, we decided to give one of these a go today as a bit of a trial as we end up with wet washing everywhere in the winter.
Washed everything at home, bedding, towels, bath mat the lot. Threw it all in the back of the T5, drove to BP which is next to a McDonald’s, stuck it in the tumble dryer and went and had lunch in McDonald’s.
30 mins later at a cost of £7 the whole lot was bone dry.
Wouldn’t use it for day to day but drying a big wash every few weeks over winter when you hang it out to dry is worth £7 just for the convenience.
Why not just buy a tumble dryer? I don't know anyone who doesn't have one.

How much does the test cost if and when it's passed?
The most they can charge is the rate set by the DVSA at £54.85.

I’ve read the site, no repairs. Doesn’t sound a very good business plan to be honest, it’ll attract skinflints who as we know will bring it in with bald tyres, brakes down to the linings etc. I’ll stick to taking it the same place I’ve used for the last 18 years and not contributing to the race to the bottom.
You are hilarious sometimes, the business is a huge success for the owners and they are continually expanding, its obviously a very good business plan for them, but you know best 👌

Looks suitably grim for a collection

You can recalibrate the gearbox to learn your driving style and they can become more responsive.

Also mine always showed the 'battery protection' when I'd been using it for local short journeys, they do put a lot of load on the battery it seems.

@SiC does this have the hidden CD player behind the minor controls above the ashtray?
They are a big old bus, my missus thought mine was a tank.

So a couple of weeks ago I recanted the story of my partner's Dad who has been rewarded for being a stubborn git and not listening to anybody that made very reasonable suggestions about buying a car. Much to my annoyance he ended up with a '56 Plate Alfa 147, with 67K miles, full service history, long MOT, uncrashed, etc. for 1700 Sterling of the realm which was found by a mate in Forest Row.
Saw it today. Yeah. It's just as annoying as I thought it would be. 2.0 Twin Spark in 'Lusso' trim with full alcantara, etc. Cosmetically excellent with only a tiny scrape on the wing mirror and a small paint chip on the rear wheel arch.
Jammy sod. The only downside is that it's a 5-speed, not a 6-speed. Doesn't make up for it...
Looks like it's pretty steamed up so the a/c isn't working or the old duffer has it set to recirc constantly.

I knew about SBC hold but not SBC stop. A quick Google says if you activate the cruise stalk when stationary, you basically can drive the car on the accelerator and not need the brake pedal. Is that correct?
I don't think I have an owners manual for the car. Might see if I can find one or at least a pdf of a pre facelift manual.
Yeah that's exactly what you do

Re the SBC the one I had used to do it quite often and sometimes when I unlocked the car for first use, and the chap I bought it off who had it years said it did the same. I believe it’s fairly normal for this era, as you just have to put up with the strange noise every so often.
Me too, its normal but quite disconcerting.
SBC hold is very useful, SBC stop is wierd 😁

That's a very brave purchase if I do say so.

Nice to see its found a new owner on here, I almost wavered and bought it back as it was ridiculously cheap.

In surprised at all your opinions on ZZRs, I've always found them to be very good also I hate Hondas! I've had more bother with them than anything else, and that includes Italian stuff!
4 ZZRs, and a GPZ1100s, and never an issue, apart from stuffing one into a Polo ..
Never said I didn't like them, I had a 600 and two 1100's
This was the nicest
My '97 1100, it was mint, swapped an e39 528i for it, think I got the better deal.

Thundercats are a much overlooked bargain
They are also 25 years old, I rebuilt my mates last year as the chain snapped and ruined the crank cases, they are ok and cheap enough but they are a bit meh to me.

Mrs Grogee sent me this pic yesterday. Initially I thought she was taking the piss but when she got home she said 'no, I think it looks cool'.
Personally I think that's grounds for divorce, don't you?
Look at the state of it! Barried T4, shit German font plates, Halfords GTI badge and lame A-Team stripes. What a throbber
to be fair it just looks like every other 'individual' T/4/5/6, also can't see if its been lowered and had shit wheels put on it to further ruin the driving 'experience'
