I also had an ATS aircon service today for the E class, it was working perfectly but hey ho Groupon deal and all that, they removed 736g and refilled 950g so the gas was a little low and I figured it couldn't do any harm for it to have a recharge and oil topup. As it was the first run I've had in weeks where the engine got properly warm I tackled the glow plugs (I was put off after reading @Snake Charmer 's woes) but fortunately they all came out fairly easily, the warning light has disappeared and all is good. It's providing sterling service and I can't see any reason to change it anytime soon. I'm hoping to slather it in dymax or bilt Hamber underneath as the winters are harsh up here, hopefully I'll summon up the energy to do it before the salt goes down!

I used the deposit for my house to buy it, not my smartest decision long term but I have happy memories. The worst was the PT Cruiser, I have no idea why I bought it. There must be a few on here who can at least double my tally.

Don't understand this though, you'd sell it to a stranger on here for £1800 but not to a stranger on gumtree, cash is cash no matter who you sell it to, I'd expect £1800 if I was advertising it for £2k, everyone wants a deal so you price it accordingly.

I don't think the heat is an issue, there's tens of millions of cars running around in the rest of the world where average daily temps in summer are equal to or above the spike we had for a day, I certainly didn't notice loads of broken down cars in Arizona when I was there, or in the Sierra Nevada in Spain where we lived for a while, or Dubai or Turkey. 51 degrees in that pic above? Absolutely no chance, its been parked in the sun, my mum always used to say 'it's been 48 degrees here today' until I pointed out to her that her thermometer was in direct sunlight, when I moved it into the shade the temps suddenly dropped by 10 degrees.

You can get a recharge at ATS through Groupon for £39 which is cheaper than a DIY bottle from Halfords even with a trade card.

I want to fit 16's with balloon tyres for comfort but I do like the look of the 18's, I will stick a set of 16" winters on if I can find some for reasonable money (for winter ) There is no coding requirement on a W211.

Yes they do work with all the buttons, it's simple to configure through the can menu on the head unit. Yes AMG 18's, I think the rear tyre profile is wrong at 255/35/18 but I'm not changing them until they are worn out and the speedo is bob on.

Yeah the glow plug light comes on and stays on for around 30 seconds, I have checked resistance and there are a couple of duff ones, not sure about injector seals, all seems good and dry under the plastic, the car has masses of main dealer history. This is mine, bought off this very forum, I've removed the limo tints it was fitted with as I'm not a gangster and next step is to have the wheels refurbed.
