2019 MOT no. 3 has occurred at Rocker Towers as well.....T25 just needed some switch cleaner on the hazard warning switch and a couple of wiper blades. Unfortunately, the coolant and oil leaks are not good news although I knew about the coolant one. Really going to bite the bullet on this one and suck up the cost of a new engine later in the year. I want to go part time before Summer 2020 and the van will be essential to my new-found leisure time.....

I will resume painting soon.
However, thermionic audio equipment has been procured, as stated:
So that'll need some serious love to get going.

I shall be attending this soiree of dubious entertainment and have
some tat that others may be interested in. I've got a big eff off vice sold
to sofarsogood but I've also got a couple of old metal oil measuring jugs,
(Castrol, Shell, half gallon), Jerry can, small grease gun, cage light for keeping
you company while under your heap classic, some clip on lights and some
other bits. Nothing above the price of 4 beers.
See youz at the Truckers. Mmmm Bacon !

Squire_Dawson got a reaction from txe4 in THAT abandoned dealer again Swadlincole
If they were all listed on eBay from different areas of the country they would be laughed at for the worthless junk they are, if they were even deemed worth crowing about in the first place. Just because the site has some 'legendary' status does not change the fact that they are all still hopeless pieces of shit which ought to be stripped and cubed at the soonest opportunity. There are loads of well preserved examples of each of these cars and when they come up for sale hardly anybody gives a wank. Get over yourselves FFS, its hardly a treasure trove.

What'd be brilliant (but completely out of reach) would be to buy everything including the 'building' and resurrect it somewhere as a real life AS headquarters.

Proper cars on a proper production line painted in proper colours.
When I am in charge every production line will be forced by law to look like a packet of Skittles. These days th most colourful thing on the assembly lines are the machines.

Doom Blue.
Ive commented before though that since the 90's cars have got very boring in their palate
Look at a picture of a car park in the 70's or 80's and it was a sea of colour - look now and its just drab.
Now...

There’s loads of those old telephones with dials still in our substations at work, most still work too. They all seem to be black, brown or beige.
They’ve probably been in there since the places were built in the 50’s and 60’s.

Well, if we are comparing our telephones, here are some of mine:
Note: 1 UK model present in the collection.

No idea where to put this really, but I think certainly of interest.
I was discussing with my partner in crime my lack of phone signal in my house therefore relying on Skype to call people and companies, which isn't ideal as I don't have an incoming number. I said I was going to buy a cheap corded phone as I'm not a fan of cordless phones for a great number of reasons.
This morning was the start of 2 weeks holiday, so I had a lie in. She woke me up, told me she had a present for me and handed me a plain white box. Open it up and:
She spotted it in a local curiosity shop she frequents on Friday, but the assistant didn't know if it worked so said to come back today and the owner would be there and he could test it for her.
It works brilliantly, could probably do with a bit of a clean up as it's a bit crackly when dialling, but the ringer works as intended and the sound quality is clear if a little bit quiet.
Anyone got any idea as to the vintage of it?
I showed it to my garage monkey Keith and his response was "That's a bit archaic." But then again he drives a Civic saloon, so what does he know?

A hundred yards from the pub where I go for an after work beer,
as you do, well I do, there are a couple of units and what did I see
poking its nose out the door ?
One of these.
Had a chat with the owner who's had it for about 12 years.
It is furkin eeee mac you late !!! Only done, get this, 26,000.
Brown with a light brown, beige dare I say, interior.
He was giving it a polish because he's taking it to the Practical
Classics at the NEC this week. He's also got a late Crapi 3 litre
Ghia S, V reg, and a Triumph Roadster from the late 40's.
A bit later at tesco I had a quick chat at the pumps with the
owner of a 94 Vauxhall Ashtray in that bluey green colour.
I did inform him that according to folklore all Vauxhalls are shite,
but he laughed it off. I therefore pointed him in the direction of
much beigeness.

Trying to do the conversion "right".
Lurid, no. However, in keeping with the car's "blues" theme yes.

Well guys, bad news.
As my repaint stack grew, the repainting stopped. I needed more colours. A lot more colours, and I couldn't do that with spray cans. They cost too much and they take up too much space. So I spent the equivalent of eight Halfords spray cans on an airbrush setup. It's great - no paint smell, the paint cost is negligible, colours can be mixed and it's all water based so it's easy to clean.
Here's the first car to roll through my new paint facility. Eddy's Matchbox Mazal:
There's no paint on the wheels, they're just reflections. It still needs polishing but I was too excited to leave it unassembled. The interior is painted with Molotow liquid chrome to make it pop through the orange glass.
So what's the bad news? You're going to be seeing a lot of this from now on!

Eddy's J2 is almost complete.
I glued in replacement rivets right through the base to act as pins for luggage.
In the end I decided to glue a tyre on the rear peg.
I might get some OO scale luggage for the front peg.
Before and after.
With friend.

Fully cleaned up. All the rust cleaned up, old washer fluid tide marks gone, all underseal overspray gone. Even took a toothbrush to the lid.
Next up, gotta buy some really lurid colored screen wash because it's on display. Gonna keep an eye open for the labels too.

Jar looks good cleaned up a little, on location.
I had to stretch the seals a little.
Apply vacuum, let off, get water!

Something arrived in the mail.
I have a jar with a pump in it! It's dirty. But, not bad for $30.

So as you’re all aware, I was (un)lucky enough to have my Bonus Ball come up last night and am now the slightly nervous new owner of a Buick Park Avenue with about 3 days MoT left.
I live on a rock in the middle of the North Sea so getting anywhere to collect anything is a mission.
True to form, the good people of the forum have come to my rescue, as they did when I won the 205 and it was relayed all the way to Aberdeen and put on the ferry for me.
Step forward RobT - a true gentleman (who I purchased my Mk3 Granada from and he not only picked me up from the train station at gone midnight but then made me cups of tea and blethered about cars) he is heading North tomorrow to collect the latest addition to my fleet and take it back to SE London whereupon it’ll be presented to an MoT tester to have a laugh at. Being an optimist I envisage a fresh ticket with not much outlay then it can begin its journey North, hopefully via as many Shiters who want a shot of it as possible.
I’ll let Rob take it from here and post progress (or lack of) so you can all breathe a sigh of relief that you didn’t win it
