  1. I have completed the Jumbuck's head gasket replacement, I reckon it is probably the most work I have done for the least miles driven, I've put it up for sale at £1900 ono which granted is a fair bit more than I paid for it, but reflects the amount of work I have put in and the current market for these things, I expect it's a bit rich for shitests, but just in case, here is what I have done since I bought it earlier in the year;

    Mot until 26/09/2017

    72k on the clock

    New Battery

Headgasket replaced as of today (advised on mot as "oil leak")

Cambelt & Waterpump, New pads, rear wheel cylinders, exhaust and Antifreeze changed at 68k/ April '16

Clutch slave cylinder changed July '16

4 New tyres on OZ alloys (covered 4k miles)

Original steel wheels & trims supplied

    Pioneer double din USB/Bluetooth Stereo

    Fibreglass top & Bed bars

    Towbar

    Both Keys

    Bed liner

Lovely truck generally, but a crease in the bottom of the driver's door/quarter lets it down a bit.

I have sat in this vehicle and made brum brum noises.

    It is very good

    sincerely

  2. Right, so I'm supposed to know the specific weight of floor mats by looking at a photograph? I trusted the seller not to royally take the piss with the postage costs.

He royally took the piss with the postage costs.

The seller guessed how much they were to post and didn't bother to offer me the difference back. I've overcharged people in the past and refunded them the difference - mostly because I'm human and humans get it wrong. Had he admitted this and refunded me the difference, I'd have accepted his apology and moved on.

The seller broke the contract by overcharging me and making me (in effect) pay for his listing fees, something he openly admitted. He needs to read eBay's terms and conditions, not me.

Whinger here is prepared to pay what it actually cost (ROFL) to send plus a bit of P&P, because.......well, why the fuck not?

I think my offer of paying him what it actually stood him to post and the actual value agreed for the item is more than fair.

I might not refund him anything if his attitude's the same as yours.

We're not going to agree on this, so let's just sack it off before the self righteousness descends.

  3. Sounds fair, I think if you were being a bastard you could pocket the lot (what can he do from that distance, realistically?) but that reads like you're paying him the purchase price plus 9000 yen, right? Then you're spot on, can't fault you, and he can only grumble that he's not got away with his little wheeze.

    Depends.

If he refunds me the money of his own volition and apologises, he can have the money back minus the difference in postage costs.

I do so hope pound sterling rises against the dollar in the next week.

If he refuses and claims he's been done, I might just keep all of it; eBay decided in my favour.

I can be reasonable if treated with respect. The fact he's taken a flying dump over this little arrangement so far means he's got a long way to go.

His choice. The money's been frozen. He can have what he's actually owed or he can have none of it for the sake of trying it on.

I genuinely think he guesstimated the amount and then hoped I wouldn't notice.

If I keep all the money on principle the system gets abused and I'm no better than he is - and the world's full of bitter little shits desperate for one upmanship.

Neutral feedback y0. I shouldn't have had to go through eBay to sort this.

  4. The postage charge was clearly stated up front. When you bought the item you agreed to the charge.

    Too late to whinge now.

Not sure why you are bothering to advertise your gullibility on here!

    Ben

Ebay have refunded me the full amount! Got on the phone and they accepted my documentation.

Seller shouldn't have dipped me then, should he? Had he actually paid $145, I'd have accepted it (because I did accept it, well observed, I wanted the items and was prepared to pay for them).

But (and here's the really crucial part) he didn't pay [the equivalent of] £118! He paid £71.80! He tried to scalp me and couldn't provide a single fucking shred of evidence explaining why.

Had he fessed up and refunded the difference, it would have been fine. I'd have accepted £15-20 for (decent) packing materials, because I'm reasonable. But not £47 different; would you, o sage? Really? If a package arrived and there was £47 between what you paid and what was declared, you'd take that? Gullible? You would be, yeah.

He can have back what I paid for the mats and what he *snigger* actually paid to post my item! I'll even give him £10 for the bubble wrap and tape, you know, because I'm not a swindling arsehole.

Struggling to see what's 'gullible' about that to be honest, HarBen.

    Jon

  5. £120 postage?! Was he flying them here on a solid gold Concorde?

Is it one of those sales where the majority of the item cost is added to postage, which they used to do to try and get around fees but I don't think works anymore because eBay charge you fees on it anyway...

He's added seller fees and handling charges on to the cost of postage, or at least that's what I can discern.

Gonna argue the toss with eBay but I doubt I'll get anything out of the robbing little shit.

  6. I wonder if any Japanese eBay sellers have ever received an Argos catalogue through the post? That would baffle him.

This guy lives in Japan but his details say he's based in the UAE (or that's where his account was registered).

  7. dont you agree to pay whatevr it says

so i if sell spark plugs £1 + £10 p&p thats up to you to accept or go elsewhere?

decent sellers would refund an overcharge but i dont think you can do anything other than shite feedback

If the postage declaration had matched what he'd charged me on eBay, yes, I would have agreed.

Do you not think a near £50 difference is a bit fishy?

He's hiding behind the 'send it back or fuck off' terms of eBay's return policy.

  8. How much were the original postage fees if the actual postage worked out £50 less!

Postage as stated on the docket was 9000 yen (xe.com reckons this is £70.75 or thereabouts)

He took $145 off me (or £118.88) for shipping.

I reckon he guesstimated and gave me a random figure to make sure it was covered.

    So far he's claimed:

    1. Ebay's shipping service took the difference off him (don't care, that isn't my problem, he didn't state this as a term of sale)

    2. Ebay's handling fees took the difference off him (don't care, that isn't my problem, he didn't state this as a term of sale)

    3. Ebay's final value fees took the difference off him (why are you passing them on to the customer?!)

Also, he stated that I paid $125 for the mats on a BIN (I didn't, I paid $90) and that I should be the one ringing up eBay to confirm how much he hasn't overcharged me by. Why?

Shouldn't he be able to prove all this with screen caps? So far he's refused.

I have all the documentation and can easily provide:

    1. The final sale amount

    2. The price he paid to ship the mats (plus another form with his signature on it)

    3. Screencaps from Paypal showing the amount I paid him to post the mats ($145)

He either thinks I'm exceptionally stupid, or bubble wrap and tape is horrifically dear in the land of the Rising Sun.

At the very least he's getting one star DSRs unless he gets this resolved.

  9. Update #2: "I haven't overcharged you, eBay took the difference in handling fees [even though I didn't send it through eBay]. Ask them how much they charged me."

How about you prove it with screen caps instead?

The normal bullshit with eBay again. "Send them back for a full refund [or fuck all else]."

    How about no?

Oh no, sorry - matey reckons the difference is in final value fees.

    I ain't seeing much proof.

And you're adding these to your postal costs - why?

Am I likely to get the difference out of this tit or should I just neg him and move on?

  10. Update: according to matey-san eBay charged him the £47 difference to pack and ship it.

Fuck off, sunshine. Do you think I was born yesterday? You posted it, with your signature, from your local post office in Saitama. Let's not muck about, eh?

You thought because you had a rare item you could gouge the postage to make yourself a few quid; you had a good go and it didn't work.

The more you fight me, the more this will hurt your pocket.

  11. And the joys of Alfa ownership continues with battery faliure for no reason whatsoever mid way through the day. Now the radio wants a code which I obviously haven't got. Nor have I got the serial number sticker which someone has thoughtfully removed.

This thing is going to get bridged. It's pushing me too far.

Since when the b0llolograms have you had an Alfa, kid?

  12. Order stupid JDM mats.

Seller ships them.......minimally and declares how much he paid to post them.

He's overcharged me by nearly £50. Sent him a polite email asking for the difference back - otherwise I'm getting eBay involved and he's being negged back to the stone age.

  14. What does it need?

[A lot of] welding (a sill's worth) a plate on the subframe, a drop link and the handbrake adjusting.

Engine runs great, it has a recent exhaust (114k) and a great interior with a part-covered stereo on a flap.

  15. AND IN TODAY'S EPISODE OF BUM GRAVY: PEEBO -

    OhFWqar.jpg

605 failed its MoT on some pretty serious structural corrosion.
Any shiters want to take it on as a project? 114k, sweet 2.1 XUD engine, very good interior, working tow bar electrics. £300 and a trailer takes it away from Peterborough. The engine has to be worth £200 alone.

Proper ad to follow. And no, I'm not breaking it. I don't have the space.
