These MG schemes are trying too hard and missing the point a bit. The important thing with an MG saloon is that it is different from the cheaper, cooking Morris or Austin version in NO significant way. Only the badge and price are different.
I had one of these. So sporty it didn’t even have a tachometer.

Decided to pull the engine and box again and use the good low mileage bottom end along with my earlier spec head with the dizzy drive on the inlet cam.
Currently in the process of stripping the old engine down.
Even though I don’t normally get cold, I really struggled to get warm today, so didn’t get as far as I’d hoped. Wiring and engine bay all ready, but I still need to disconnect the prop and a few bits underneath before pulling the engine.
 

New year and about time to post a little more about my projects/cars. If it has an engine I usually have an interest, be it boat, tractor, bike or car - but particular things that really grab my attention are cars I grew up with (70-80’s) and kit cars. Generally not a serial poster though so let’s see how things go!
Although not in the same league as others,  current fleet size = 6 which are a mix of semi moderns and projects. Would love a warehouse full of chod but space and finances always come into play. 
Anyway, first long term project - MG Midget. 13 years and ticking. Did have a thread on the blue forum many years ago but life and photobucket got in the way. Converted to rover k series running gear - it’s up and running*, body work has been started. I have toyed with selling it a couple of times over the years, but finally decided to get it finished come what may....

Finally... For about the first time in 9.5 years I've had it I've been in the same place as the land rover, it's been road legal and snowing!

Saturday was just an ordinary day, except that my neighbour had said " lets go to the races", or to be specific to the NZ Historic grand prix, which was being held in Taupo only 40 minutes drive away
The program included saloons, formula junior, trans am and the old but impressive and noisy formula 5000 open wheelers.
Have a look. the camera is poor and did not pick up the noise, but I am sure you can imagine the sound of a straight-piped 7 litre Ford , or a Dodge Viper.

This is the stuff, from model shops or eBay. It adheres really well to the polycarbonate lenses.  I sprayed the lenses inside and outside until they looked right, about 4 coats in all.
