  1. Try welding fresh metal to the edges of the bit you have cut from the car, then you know if you need to cut further or not.
  2. Volvo Amazon estate then make it just 100% reliable and as economical as possible with a few comfort focused pieces added. Then just use it as a car.
  3. Hot cross buns in Tesco all year round.
  4. A92 just south of Montrose this afternoon, it hadn't been snowing long either.
  5. Great news getting the MOT sorted. Quite the collection you have.
  6. Good to have you back and great news you are feeling much more yourself.
  7. Looking forward to see what sensible* choices you have made.
  8. The polo demanded more attention by snapping the spring on the other side. Into the workshop it went with the Insight having a little dry out after a quick trip to Manchester. Not an old spring either. These were in bits and have been replaced I don't really mind using these at all They are courtesy of @sdkrc after I did his Lexus springs quite a while ago. After I'd put all that back together I decided to use my time more wisely and gathered the tool chests in the one area instead of virtual as far away as possible. I then had had enough and went home leaving the Insight to get on with dry January.
  9. It is only a slight reflection of the stuff you have been battling with. Don't forget to make time for yourself otherwise you will have nothing left to give.
  10. At least your mum is home where she is likely to feel most relaxed.
  11. Chrome on my phone has started doing this. Don't access using a computer anymore. Android app, all up to date.
  12. My better half informed me the Polo was making a noise when steering at low speed. I assumed CV joint or something like that. A bit of investigation and the front left spring was a little* broken. I invested about £21 in a spring and a drop link. Today was the day as they arrived this morning. Jacked up and wheel off to find this Nope, I have none of those bits. Maybe I can take the whole hub off. How fucking big, too big for any of the tools I have, I have quite a few! I loosened the pinch bolt with the help of my new Milwaukee 3/8 impact, which is brilliant, and managed to get the strut out. Th spring was getting in the way so a couple of cuts and this was all that was left of it. Stripped down, built back up and once refitted it was done. Took the opportunity to fit new wiper blades and rear boot struts and my work was done. I think two hours all in so not too bad. Glad I don't do this stuff for a living!
  13. Can't disagree with any of this. Tremendous effort wading through all the information to find what the actual problems are and then actually fixing them!
  14. I assume no roaming package is the reason for the silence since crossing the border
  15. I don't think it did, I think the correct levels of wound up were achieved. Life's too short for behaviour like that
  16. The Clio has still been plugging away, I'd code read it with my cheap reader and got this. This valve has been replaced previously and when turning the ignition on it doesn't appear to do anything at all. It got plugged into a decent scanner that @320touring has and this provided a lot more information, most of which I have no idea what it means. There is a plan of action when time permits but until then it is still providing service. Yesterday it had four 2.4x1.2 sheets of plasterboard in. Which then got put up in the house. Little car is currently a trooper.
  17. Search clutch cable clip for Xantia Not the worst job in the world.
  18. Plastic clutch clip from the cable to the pedal. Not too difficult to change when you have done it a few times. When you eventually get pissed off changing them you can copy it in metal and it doesn't snap again...
  19. Some excellent work going on here. Keep plodding along with it, I think you have more than enough ability to get this finished to a very high standard.
