  1. SLK went back to @Jim Bell as it was his and I was just minding it. To aid with logistics after it threw a spanner in the works, idler pulley off, the 206 came from @davehedgehog31 but only stayed briefly before @gm won the roffle. That leaves me with the Minor, still waiting for me to pick up where I left off ages ago, the Civic which does excellent daily service for my better half and the C1 which does excellent daily service for myself. having less cars means I should be able to continue with fixing stuff, I can't see that happening!
  2. This bit was in place but broken until one day when I opened the window and it vanished off the face of the earth!
  3. Great to daily. Winter will just be the demist issues depending on how wet you are/the car gets. Don't worry about the unleaded valve seats, only very sustained high revs for thousands of miles will start the valve seat wear. You are used to most of the potential issues already.
  4. Fitted the shiny exhaust today to the C1, took 30 minutes start to finish. The old one did this I wonder why That might explain it.
  5. Keep applying as it is all experience.
  6. A proper scrapyard with cars stacked on each other provided a suitable replacement today for this. Not bad for £20
  7. Just caught up on this since before the trip. Outstanding trip. Looked amazing.
  8. 205 for sale advert here: https://autoshite.com/topic/49843-peugeot-205-11-petrol-1988-f-reg-for-sale-in-forfar-£1200/
  9. I no longer have it, sold a few weeks ago. Perfectly good as a car but the petrols have a very different feel being much more fun to drive.
  10. MOT was booked for today and despite being mothballed for a while it passed no bother. For sale advert coming later today.
  11. Nothing at all under load, other cars in the past yes.
  12. I thought the same and I've straightened damage in the past but it isn't just the rim, it is the hoop as well that is damaged. I'm hoping that the wheel took the force and it wasn't transferred elsewhere, it did drive ok after the work.
  13. He didn't have the same incentive as I did is all. I'm sure he had better plans for his Sunday afternoon
  14. I'd never be able to do this for a living and anyone that does, and does it well, has my respect.
  15. Phone call from the youngest yesterday that she had hit a pothole. It was a big one. She has autoaid and called them once she was home because the tyre and wheel were damaged. The local independent came out and basically said her car was shit. He couldn't get the wheel off because it was 'welded to the hub' this is because there was 'no brake pad and the calipers were knackered' and 'has it ever been serviced' everything would 'need to go to a garage for that, never be able to fix it here' He also managed to completely fuck the ignition switch which had a knack to it that Meg had perfect. I loaded up the boot of the slk today and went to Glasgow. First off the ignition switch, I'd already bought a lock set for the car which was in the boot. 30 minutes later and that was changed. Now the wheel, a few taps with a decent mallet and it was still stuck so I applied the work smart not hard. Yep that works well. I'd brought the discs and pads that were to go on next time it was home. Pistons pushed back very easily and the pads with at least 6mm of thickness were removed. Discs and pads swapped and a replacement wheel fitted and she is good to go. I was more than a little pissed off with the lies. Yes the wheel was stuck but if you can't figure it out just say you can't rather than the bullshit. Less than two and a half hours and it was all done in a car park and definitely not a garage.
  16. Not updated in a while. The 205 welding got finished a couple of hours before @Ged collected it. Hope it is doing well for him. The C1 diesel has been my daily for a couple of weeks, I put the advert for it on gumtree and facebook recently and had a few time wasters, should be collected tonight as long as nothing gets in the way. With the red C1 going it would need replacing with something so I started looking and found a suitable back up car. That is currently at the workshop as it was for sale round the corner. With the little C107go's being so good that is exactly what I've replaced it with. Out In
  17. I achieved much better mpg even towing a big trailer. I probably* was having much less fun though!
  18. His post said he had found a lost phone, did a tiny bit of effort and the ignorant woman snatched it out of his hand. He has since seen some lost phones and wonders if they are still lost. He didn't pick them up and try and reunite them with their owners. Hope that clears that up for you
  19. Glad everyone in the world doesn't have the same attitude as you and only does the decent thing to get thanks and praise. What a world we live in!
