I watched this last night. SNO KAOS, 1979 January and February, M62. Showing that Range Rovers are actually quite bloody good. Plenty of chod and sideburns

I am now residing in London, so for the sake of posterity I should update this thread. All spotted in or around Kilburn(ish):

Relying on being able to open the windows on a Rover 600 is really living dangerously!

This was pre XJ40, and nothing so sensible would have occurred to him.   We knew somebody who knew somebody at Fiat UK who found us a serviceable secondhand box,  which was a rare thing even then.   Quite nice cars in fact.   My mate had a collection of shonky Fiats, Alfas and Lancias parked up and down the very smart street where he lived in South London, and he had about one good battery between them, so he eventually lost interest in the 130 and it sort of disappeared.    Last time I saw him he was living in a council flat with no heating or furniture.  But he had a Porsche outside.

I knew it was time to let my last Tdi Disco go when you couldn’t close the back door when it was parked on a kerb...

Have you ever weighed some batteries in and the yard man has to shout to the crane operator not to grab your car whilst it’s on the bridge?
Have you ever been blamed for other old shit parked in the area, when it’s nothing to do with you?
Have you ever had to take the new* battery tray out of your car , because your Mrs needs it back for roast potatoes?
Is there a special knack to getting in/ starting/ stopping/ locking/ keeping running, any or all of your cars?
Is your AA/ RAC the one thing you make sure is up to date, above everything else?

Have you ever had to let your car down off the jack so you can shut the driver's door?
That was my Seat Marbella and the first sign that it had slightly more rot issues than I'd anticipated.  Resulted in my favourite interaction with my long-suffering mechanic  when it went in for MOT - a text from him a few hours later simply saying "don't think so mate".

An actual 4 door Cortina Lotus, I never knew such a thing existed.

Edited to add: apparently nthere were at least 4 - 2 with Anglia Police , that both survive and have been restored.
2 with Thanes Valley, neither survive. This is one of them and had hit a wall near Thame .
There were rumours odpf another pair with a Welsh force, but no records exist of them.

Does the boot of all your cars contain a tow rope, jump leads, easy start, wd- 40, cable ties, gaffer tape , para cord , a hammer and a knife? ( Can sometimes mean you’re a serial killer too)
In July I drove a 6 day old 1/4 of a million pound car to Nice, still had a multi tool, cable ties and a roll of tape in my bag.

When you say chrome arch trims and lowered on coil overs , it sounds shit .
Luckily in this case , at least, it looks great. As others have mentioned the colour helps , on a black one this could look awful.
But, remember , just because you’ve got away with it this time , don’t think it couldn’t all end in tears on another car/ colour/ rim combo!
