They get a bit tatty but the amazing thing with this one is that it’s only done 25,000 miles in the last 25 years .  They’ve usually got 4/500k+ on them . This ones only got 124k on it.

Just as a heads-up, I'll be dropping some diecast clear-outs later on this evening, on my car boot thread - say around 7.30pm or so.
Will post the link up here whenever we're good to go.
Various bits and pieces of assorted scales and eras, nothing more than a tenner, and most in the sub-£1 bracket.

There were a few dibs claimed when I posted up a teaser photo a couple of weeks ago; I hadn't worked out prices then but I have now - so rest assured you'll be given first refusal, but no hard feelings if you'd sooner pass.
Just feeling a need to clear a bit of space, get some larger things rehomed, and see what I have left for myself.
Too much frenzied acquisition, and not enough time spent actually appreciating and enjoying the things I've picked up, seems to be what ails me of late.

Once this lot has been sorted out, I'll be moving to finalise any outstanding tat boxes and get those moved on too - but I'll be sending out PMs in the coming weeks in a staggered manner, to avoid winding up with thirty boxes in the hall (again). If you're super-keen to get yours sooner rather than later though, let me know!

Oh, and keep an eye out for a super-special diecast roffle coming up too - I've decided to move on my Corgi Model Club 'shadow collection', comprising the inaugural Walls Ice-Cream Van release plus the next ten releases in the range, up to and including the first release Bond Aston.
I don't much fancy my chances of flogging them individually online or finding a buyer for a job lot, but there's a small chance I might be able to shift a few tickets at a fiver a go.
Again, will post a link up here for easy reference once I've got photos uploaded etc.
    Cheers all.

NorfolkNWeigh reacted to The Moog in Navigation Rallies - shite cars going the speed limit!
Last night was the navigation rally.
What can I say but what a hoot.
For anyone who hasn't tried it, I highly recommend it.
The premise is simple - get from point A to point B within the speed limit.
The hurdles are that you get penalised for being too early, penalised for being late and penalised for approaching the checkpoint from the wrong direction.
Along the way there are signs with numbers or codes on them.  Miss these and guess what - you are penalised.
It's mostly B roads, in the dark and being Scotland it is flooded/rutted throughout.
The other cars were pretty much rally prepped with massive front lights

We took part in beginners category that got us a marked map

If you go for Novice (next level up) these are the type of instructions you get

These have to be deciphered and plotted on the move.

    Some of the rules

It's incredibly difficult to convey the fun that is had.  The first half took about 2 hours, in which time it is unrelenting. Navigator has by far the hardest job, being chucked about, trying to read a map, keep eyes open for signs and then watching the clock.
We finished back at HQ around midnight to a feast of rolls and cakes.
Managed to finish without breaking the Merc and still speaking!
My major issue this morning is that I fancy doing more in future but don't think the turbo Mx5 will cut it.  Might need to upgrade to more of a rally car.

I think a nice 2005 330iSE auto for £2000  or maybe an immaculate 2002 Boxster 2.7 for the full £4000 I might know just where to lay my hands on examples.
As much as I enjoyed my 2.2 XF and it didn’t actually ever break down properly, it always felt as if it was on borrowed time. If you want something to last buy a 4 pot diesel Merc or @SiC’s e320 , he’ll have poked at it and found everything that’s likely to break in a normal persons lifetime of ownership in the few months he’s had it.

I thought I'd better check today when in May the MOT is due so I can try and be proactive and get it booked early. Turned out it was due today. Doh
Luckily they had a 4pm slot so now has 12m MOT.  Yay

Remember them? I think I bought some yesterday!

Went to a Carboot in Leighton Buzzard and this lot came as bundle for a Fiver.  Really wanted the Lesney DS and I quite like thatMGB and Birds Eye Thames.  The Wagonaire is the only non-Ambulance one I’ve got , Not sure about the Morris and Austin vans. The rest can do one, if anybody wants them for price of postage, let me know.
There was a stall that had 4 quite nice Lesney trucks and an early Corgi Mini, on asking about the price of the Mini, the very aggressive seller said: “£100 the lot I know what they’re worth!” My wife congratulated me on my restraint , after I smiled and walked away .pl
