I knocked one up for this using pre 98 grandad rights to avoid a type approved towbar,,it wasn't worth the 50quid saving given all the fabrication hassle!
Either way 1000kg towing limit is handy enough!

Once you get that safari rack on anything goes, telegraph poles and 4m insulated roof sheets on top, a pallet of cement in the back and 2t of ballast on the triple axle etc

If the wiring diagram above is correct then i get the following conclusion re the ignition switch:
T: 12V- power  always present regardless of switch status
L: Switched 12v - power feed to side lights and dash light switch
H headlight 12V- power feed to main beam/dipped via footswitch.
Going via the diagram it's unclear what A3 and A actually do, of the top of head thinking is that A3 is a 12v- feed from the switch to energize the dynamo regulator and put on the ignition warning light A being possibly a means to earth the circuit upon shutdown to stop the engine running on the dynamo in the absence of a diode. The other function diagrams contradict the main  car diagram however.

Current status here is heavily BL with a 73 marina 1.3 auto, 77 dolomite 1500HL and an 80 ital 1.7 , the dolomite needs the least work,,and its a sharp curve up for the marina and ital,,,eventually I'll get onto them!

I reckon 1800 single carb on the original box with a MGB auto 3.7 or MGC 3.3  diff,  I doubt there is enough room in the tunnel for the bulk of the OD , but at least the original gear selector can be reused in place of the Mgb remote also I think your stuck with the convoluted single downpipe so may be looking at more like 75bhp than a possible 95 but with way more useable torque.
Note that 67 onwards there was a bigger flywheel and revised backplate for a preengaged starter but it should fit the early gearbox with a check to ensure the spigot bearing is the right size, however even then 4 synchro boxs are literally pocket change to buy.
Not sure how similar MGB uprights are but could be something to investigate brakes wise although imo generally it's easily possible to drive within the capability of the brakes
